Advent & Christmas Events<br />
“Joy to the world the Lord has come...” this<br />
is the good news celebrated during the<br />
Christmas season by young and old alike.<br />
Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be<br />
providing a number of celebration opportunities<br />
during the month of <strong>December</strong>:<br />
• Sunday, <strong>December</strong> 3rd at the 10:45 AM service,<br />
the Youth Choir will be bringing special<br />
music while at both the 8:30 and 10:45 AM services<br />
the Chancel Chimes will be performing<br />
their Christmas music. At the 9:35 AM worship<br />
service, the Journey Praise Band will be leading<br />
worship with celebrative music. At all three<br />
services, Holy Communion will be celebrated<br />
and Dr. Dave Meadows will be bringing an<br />
inspiring Advent message.<br />

• Sunday, <strong>December</strong> 10th at 10:45 AM, the<br />
Children’s choirs will be presenting their<br />
Christmas Musical entitled: “The King & Me.”<br />
At the 9:35 AM worship service, the Journey<br />
Praise Band will be leading worship with celebrative<br />
music. At both the 8:30 and 9:35 AM<br />
services, Dr. Dave Meadows will be bringing<br />
an inspiring Advent message.<br />
• Saturday, <strong>December</strong> 16th, the Children’s<br />
Ministry Team will be sponsoring a special<br />
children’s event, “Breakfast with Santa,” from<br />
9-10:30 AM that will include pictures with<br />
Santa, face painting, donuts, crafts and other<br />
family friendly activities.<br />
• Saturday, <strong>December</strong> 16th, the Cypress Symphonic<br />
Band will hold its winter concert at 7<br />
PM. Tickets are $6 pre-sale online (https://<br />
cypresssymphonicband.org/tickets/) or $8<br />
at the door.<br />
• Sunday, <strong>December</strong> 17th, the Cornerstone<br />
Chancel Choir accompanied by an orchestra<br />
will be presenting a special Christmas music<br />
program entitled “Once Upon a Night” at both<br />
the 8:30 and the 10:45 AM services. There will<br />
be no worship service at 9:35 AM but there will<br />
be Christian education for all ages available<br />
at 9:30 AM.<br />
• Christmas Eve, Sunday, <strong>December</strong> 24th,<br />
Cornerstone will offer three morning worship<br />
service worship opportunities and one<br />
evening service at 5 PM. The 8:30, 9:35 and<br />
10:45 AM services will include special music<br />
from the Cornerstone Chancel Choir and the<br />
Journey Praise Band as well as an inspirational<br />
Christmas message by Dr. Dave Meadows. The<br />
evening worship service at 5 PM will include<br />
the retelling of the “Birth of Christ” through<br />
Scripture readings acted out by children.<br />
There will also be the singing of carols, the<br />
celebration of Holy Communion, a “Candle<br />
Lighting Ceremony” with everyone lighting<br />
candles during the singing of “Silent Night”<br />
and children will receive a special “Christmas<br />
gift” from the church.<br />
• Sunday, <strong>December</strong> 31st, the church will<br />
continue the Christmas celebration. There will<br />
be a “Favorite Christmas Hymn” time at the<br />
8:30 and 10:45 AM services. During this time,<br />
worshippers will be given the opportunity<br />
to pick and choose their favorite Christmas<br />
hymns from The United Methodist Hymnal to<br />
be sung. At the 9:35 AM worship service, the<br />
Journey Praise Band will be leading the worship<br />
with celebrative music. Rev. David Rucker,<br />
Associate Pastor, will be bring an inspiring<br />
post-Christmas message.<br />
Everyone is invited to attend these special<br />
holiday fellowship and worship opportunities.<br />
Don’t forget, each Sunday we offer Christian<br />
Education Classes for all ages at 9:30 AM In<br />
addition, we will have a nursery available for<br />
all of our worship celebrations. Cornerstone<br />
wishes each of you a “Merry Christmas!” and<br />
a “Happy New Year!”<br />
