WASCUNY started this year with great sadness throughout our<br />
club. One of our Board members, Jackie Hamilton, passed away<br />
suddenly, just five days before Christmas 2016. Jackie was a kind,<br />
generous, sweet lady. She always had nice, positive, encouraging<br />
things to say to our members and exhibitors. You would always see<br />
Jackie working at our agility trials, usually running the hospitality,<br />
and helping out wherever she was needed. She also helped at our<br />
rally and obedience trials, setting up and staying until the end to<br />
help take everything down and put it away. She participated in<br />
rally, obedience, and agility, but herding was her main focus with<br />
her dogs. WASCUNY is sponsoring the High Combined award for<br />
Stock at the <strong>2017</strong> ASCA Nationals in memory of Jackie. She loved<br />
her family and her dogs very much. She had a beautiful smile and<br />
a contagious laugh. We all miss her very much!<br />
We held agility trials in February, April and June indoors in<br />
Greenwich, NY. We also held obedience and rally trials in March at<br />
Affiliate News<br />
Amsterdam, NY. We had several first-time exhibitors at our March<br />
obedience and rally trials. We also had several different breeds this<br />
year. They enjoyed the trials and said they will be back to trial with<br />
us again. We LOVE hearing that!<br />
Our biggest event of the year was our annual July Sparkler<br />
show in Greenwich. We held 4 conformation shows, 2 rally trials<br />
and 2 obedience trials at that event. We had majors for intact<br />
conformation and we filled both our rally trials. Our September<br />
agility trial will be held in Greenwich under cover on hard packed<br />
dirt. We will finish out the year with our <strong>Dec</strong>ember agility trial,<br />
also held in Greenwich.<br />
We want to thank all our members that have chaired, worked,<br />
or volunteered in any way to help with all of our events. We also<br />
want to thank all our exhibitors that come to our shows and trials!<br />
We could not put on shows, trials, clinics, or seminars without our<br />
dedicated members and exhibitors!<br />
