THE MINISTER of
Tourism, Arts and Culture,
Madam Catherine Ablema
Afeku, has commended the
Second Princess of the
Miss Tourism Ghana 2016,
Ms Daniella Akorfa Awuma,
for raising the flag of Ghana
high at the 2017 Miss International
Beauty Pageant held
in Tokyo.
The Minister, who interacted
with the delegation
from the Miss Tourism
Ghana (MTG) team when
they paid a courtesy call at
her office last Tuesday, said,
“The girls were making
Ghana very proud.”
She therefore pledged
that her Ministry would continue
to support immensely
their various projects.
The team comprises the
newly-crowned Miss International
Africa,
Daniella Akorfa Awuma,
Miss Tourism Culture, Benedicta
Nana Adjei, Head of
Youth Development, Makafui
Seshie and Director of
Events and Operations, Mrs
Delphine J. Brew-Hammond.
In a release copied to the
DAILY HERITAGE, the
meeting commenced with a
welcome note from the
Chief Director of the
Tourism Ministry, Dr Joel
Sohnne, in which he praised
the team for raising the flag
of Ghana very high.
Mrs Delphine J. Brew-
Hammond, the Director of
MTG, also spoke on the
journey to winning the title
of Miss International Africa
and being chosen to share in
the glory of a semi-finalist.
She said, “We are very
grateful to H.E. Sylvester Allotey-Parker,
his wife and the
entire Embassy of Ghana
staff in Japan for their unrelenting
and unwavering support
for Ms Akorfa
Awuma.”
The Minister gave the
girls the opportunity to talk
on their projects.
Akorfa Awuma, said “I
will carry on with the projects
of the MTG organisation,
which is sanitation and
the environment.”
Ms Nana Adjei told the
gathering about what occurred
on World Toilet Day,
when the MTG team visited
the Jekora plant at Borteyman,
where waste turns into
manure.
The Deputy Minister of
Tourism, Arts and Culture,
Dr Ziblim Barri Iddi, also
advised the Tourism Ambassadors
to stay focused on
their projects and the sky
will be their limit.
He encouraged them to
take whatever they were
about to do seriously.
