By Pat VerSteeg -- It was a crisp
December evening last Saturday as
the Dempsey faithful gathered at
the Dempsey school house for food,
fun and fellowship. The walls of
the old school house were adorned
with Christmas wreaths in keeping
with the season and the theme of
the evening. Denise Parman opened
with the introduction of first timers
and honored those with December
birthdays. First timers recognized
were Donna Nickel and Gentry Herren.
December birthdays honored
were Gloria Hargrave and Denise
Parman. Suzann VerSteeg played
Happy Birthday on the piano as all
sang to honor the December birthdays.
Denise led all in the Pledge to
favorite Christmas songs and Suzann
VerSteeg who will accompany on the
piano. Figianna is an accomplished
vocalist, once having tried out for
the opera.” Figianna and Suzann
took the stage and performed to the
delight of the audience a number
of favorite Christmas songs. At
one point Figianna introduced her
daughter, Mia, who joined in on two
songs, and all joined in a rousing
sing-along. The songs performed
were: Silver Bells, Rudolph the Red-
Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night, Jingle
Bells, What Child Is This?, Mary Did
You Know?, and Gesu’ Bambino.
American Pickers Visit Local Collector
It started with the announcement “American Pickers are
Coming to Oklahoma” and they are looking for collections
they can view.
After a few phone calls from friends to Jr. Porter’s daughter
Jan Bailey, the decision was made to contact the Pickers
and let them know about the local collector’s items. After
many emails, pictures and information exchanged, the Porter’s
were notified “You’ve been selected!”
Hosts of the popular television documentary series, Mike
Wolfe and Frank Fritz, drove in to Western Oklahoma on
Sunday, December 3, 2017. After a fun-filled full day of
picking Jr.’s collection the cast and crew drove off with a
honk, a wave and “Sweet Pickin!”
Along with his passion for collecting, Jr. is a retired farmer
and owner-operator of the local feed store. He was also a
rural mail carrier with a 146-mile daily route.
Jr. bought his first 22 pistol with his own money when
he was 12-years old and has been collecting every since.
His real love is collecting local history. “It’s not about the
merchandise but about the history of the community that
I love the most,” he stated.
In the early years Jr. would spend every weekend going to
gun shows or auctions and his collection just grew. He still
enjoys attending gun shows and going to auctions. Although
he is ready to let some of his collection go, he is still pretty
attached to most of it.
Henry Porter, Jr. was born and raised in Roger Mills
County on the family farm that his grandfather claimed in
the 1892 run. He and wife Lucille raised two daughters, Jan
and Donna on the homeplace and they continue to reside
in the original home.
The American Pickers show featuring Jr. will air in 3-4
months. The family will be notified later of the exact date.
Watch here for more information.
EXCITEMENT…It was probably one of the most exciting things that has happened in Roger Mills County when on
Sunday the American Pickers came to view Jr. Porters antiques and collectibles. Pictured are the camera crew along
with Jr., Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe. Watch for details on when the documentary will air on the History channel. See
more pictures inside on page 6B.

CRAWFORD
Sue Pearson
It is Tuesday morning and I am
wondering when the nice warm
weather went. Burrr! It is cold
outside.
The Crawford Church will enjoy
the December fellowship meal
Sunday, December 10th. Please
join your friends and neighbors for
delicious food, fabulous fellowship,
and good old-fashioned fun. If you
want to, you may bring a covered
dish, preferably with food in it. Of
course, you are invited and encouraged
to attend Sunday School at 10
and Church at 11.
Last Saturday there was a birthday
celebration for three of Rocky
and Sara Montgomery Allen’s children
– Braxton, Trey and Tara, each
have December birthdays so a party
in honor or the trio was held at the
Allen cabin.
Braxton Allen was really celebrating
later when he harvested his
first deer. That is a special time for
young hunters. I remember when
my grandson Adam took his first
deer on a hunting trip with Paw-
Paw Dean.
Congratulations to Bob and
Shirley Bright Cogburn who will
celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss
on Saturday. Their anniversary is
December 22 but due to the celebration
of Christmas, they are having
an early party.
The annual Christmas Ball will
be at the Crawford Gym December
9th. Dining will begin at 6 p.m. followed
with an evening of dancing
and fun.
Thank you to Linda Eakins
and her helpers for decorating
the church at Crawford. It looks
beautiful!
This advise is for all of you who
do not attend church because of the
hypocrites who are there; stay away
from Wal-Mart! I assure you, there
are more hypocrites at Wal-Mart
than at any church.
May you experience the hop,
peace, and joy God gave us in the
Person of His Son Jesus.
DURHAM
Karen Harman
Here it is already December. We
sure do need some moisture but
hope its not all ice and just a little
snow. The decorations are beginning
to go up and its beginning to look a
lot like Christmas around Durham.
The DWW and Durham Quilting
Bees will be having their Christmas
parties.
Danny Ringer and his lovely wife,
Penny, were guests at the Baptist
Church for Sunday morning services.
Danny imparted a wonderful
Christmas season sermon on the
birth of Jesus in Jerusalem in the
inn surrounded by the animals
2000 years ago. But he reminded
everyone its not about the crowded
manger scene but the empty cross
that we look up to for our hope and
salvation.
The Durham Baptist Church is
decorating and making plans for
the Saturday evening music program
with Billy and Loretta Whitfield
and their friends, Dale and Merlene
Hester. There will be so much
entertainment we hope they can
Cheyenne Community
Choir Presents Living
Christmas Tree
The Cheyenne Community Choir
has been preparing for a very special
event this Christmas season, a
musical celebration in the shape of
a Christmas tree. If you are unfamiliar
with what this is, let me tell you
about it. The Living Christmas Tree
is a structure made of steel that the
choir sings from. It will be around
15 feet high and decorated with
tinsel and lights and the ornaments
are the choir members.
There will be two performances
this year that will be filled with
wonderful sounds of the season,
including both traditional and new
Christmas songs. Each performance
will also include many of our talented
community members who will
sing and play a number of solos,
duets and trios. The Community
Choir will then present a musical
called “Come, Let Us Adore”
which will include both traditional
carols as well as some new songs
for Christmas.
The Living Christmas Tree will
be the largest Christmas Tree in
Roger Mills County and you definitely
won’t want to miss it. Performances
are Saturday, December 9, at
6:00 pm and Sunday, December 10,
at 6:00 PM. The performances will
be in the FBC Family Center. For
more information, contact Casey
King at (580)497-3456. Please join
us as we celebrate the true reason
for the season—Jesus.
Issues of Life
Pastor Andy Taylor
“They came to the other side of the sea. And when Jesus had come out
of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an
unclean spirit.” Mark 5:1-2
It appears that Jesus and the twelve went across the sea for one specific
reason. And immediately when they came ashore they were confronted with
a man who was severely demonized. He lived naked in the mountains and
among the tombs there. He had been chained and shackled more than a
few times but the chains couldn’t hold him long before he shattered them.
He cried out night and day with a loud voice and cut himself with stones.
He was known throughout the country as a crazy man!
When he saw Jesus he ran to Him and began to worship Him. The
demons spoke and begged Jesus not to torment them. This is a classic
story and it proves that Jesus didn’t just go around doing a lot of random
things. He crossed over the sea, encountered a violent storm for the specific
purpose of setting this man free from his demonic captivity. And, that’s
exactly what He did. The man was totally set free and went around telling
what God had done for him.
I used to teach that Jesus was ‘needs oriented’; that wherever He went
and whatever needs He encountered….he met them. But I’ve changed
my position over the years and I wouldn’t teach it that way now. No, Jesus
didn’t do a lot of random things….He was led by the Spirit of the Lord.
He only went where the Father directed Him and He only did the Father’s
will. It’s the example that we should follow as well. We shouldn’t do a lot
of random things…we should do what the Father directs!
Thank You
I would like to thank the area churches and everyone else for their cards
and prayers while I was getting over foot surgery. May God bless you as
he has me.
Jim McClellan
Thank You
I would like to thank everyone who sent cards, brought food, the phone
calls and especially for the prayers in my behalf while I had cancer, GOD
still answers prayers. My last petscan showed that my cancer was healed.
God Bless You All.
Donnie York
“He will rejoice over you. You will rest in his love; he will sing
and be joyful about you.” Zephaniah 3:17
God is for you. Turn to the sidelines; that’s God cheering
your run. Look past the finish line; that’s God applauding your
steps. Listen for him in the bleachers, shouting your name. Too
tired to continue? He’ll carry you. Too discouraged to fight?
He’s picking you up. God is for you.
God is for you. Had he a calendar, your birthday would be
circled. If he drove a car, your name would be on his bumper.
If there’s a tree in heaven he’s carved your name in the bark.
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no
compassion on the child she has borne?” God asks in Isaiah
49:15. What a bizarre question. Can you mothers imagine
feeding your infant and then later asking, “What was that baby’s
name?” No, I’ve seen you care for your young. You stroke
the hair, you touch the face, you sing the name over and over.
Can a mother forget? No way. But “even if she could forget...I
will not forget you,” God pledges (Isaiah 49:15).
Bernice Colleen Burns
Bernice Colleen Burns was born
in Kiowa, near Hammon, Oklahoma
on October 22, 1925, the third child
of Henry and Mabel Hawkins. She
passed away peacefully, surrounded
by her family on November 30,
2017.
Bernice grew up on a farm in
the 30’s, when times were hard, and
everyone had to pitch in. She graduated
from Cheyenne High School
in 1943. It was in high school where
she met Leland Burns who would
become her husband shortly after
graduating. Bernice would say "My
life began when I met Leland." The
night of their marriage, Leland and
Bernice left for Norfolk, Virginia
where he had received orders
from the United States Navy. She
stayed with him in Norfolk for ten
months where she delivered their
first child, Mickey, two weeks after
he deployed. Bernice then returned
home to make a life in Cheyenne.
Eleven months later, Bernice traveled
to Boston, Massachusetts to
visit Leland while he was docked
state-side and returned to Cheyenne,
pregnant with their second child.
Leland completed his service and
returned home on December 14,
1945, just hours after their daughter,
Judy, was born.
Their life together as a family
began on that day. Soon, Leland
and Bernice bought a small farm
northwest of Cheyenne and love
filled the small house they called
home. A few years later, another
son, Jim was born, and their family
was complete. In 1957, Leland and
Bernice moved to town and in 1959
bought the home in which they have
resided ever since.
Bernice was employed at the
county extension office where
she worked for over twenty years.
Retirement did not mean a life
of rest and relaxation for Leland
and Bernice. They purchased the
bowling alley in Sayre and ran it until
1980. From 1980 on, Leland and
Bernice could be found daily on a
golf course, somewhere. If asked,
Bernice likely would have said, she
loved Jesus, Leland, her family, and
golf. In that order! She was a talented
athlete and fierce competitor.
Bernice won numerous bowling
and golf tournaments and golf club
championships. She loved to play
games and do puzzles and regularly
hosted friends for bridge.
Bernice loved to travel, insisting
that Leland always accompany her
and since he could never tell her no,
he always went. They enjoyed trips
to Hawaii, Mexico, Washington D.C.,
New York, Alaska, and Nova Scotia
to name a few. Without question
though, her favorite place to go was
to their home in Angel Fire, New
Mexico. Beginning in 1983, Leland
and Bernice spent every summer
playing golf in the cool mountain
air. From June to September, they
would play daily. In 2013 Leland
and Bernice celebrated their 70th
wedding anniversary in Angel Fire
with a family golf tournament.
Bernice loved the Lord. She
joined the church in 1938 where
she later served as a Sunday School
teacher, youth sponsor, choir member,
bell ringer, and prayer warrior
her whole life. One of her greatest
joys was writing her Sunday School
lesson each week. She once said her
favorite books were the Bible and
the Wiersbe Commentaries. She had
unshakable faith and believed God
always has a plan and would always
see her through.
Leland and Bernice enjoyed every
minute of their 73 years together.
She was a shining example of what
a wife, mother and grandmother
should be. Her family considers
themselves blessed beyond measure
to have had her for 92 years.
Bernice is preceded in death by
her loving husband, Leland; her
parents, Henry and Mabel Hawkins;
her father and mother-in-law,
"Red" and Pearl Burns; her brother,
James Hawkins; her sister, Beatrice
Williams; her brother-in-law, Bob
Burns; her son-in-law, Sam Wood;
her niece, Lisa Heinen; and a grandson,
Chad Burns.
She is survived by her devoted
children, Mickey and Janet Burns
of Minco, Judy Wood of Kingfisher,
spouses, Rene and David Dacus of
Awake to Righteousness
Presented by Jonathan Hagar
If you could ask the church
of Christ any question, what
would it be?
A few weeks ago, I was asked about the appearances evil. It was asked,
“Is it wrong for one to live with a member of the opposite sex even if you
are not committing fornication?” The Bible warns of fornication and the
fact that it is a sin (Heb. 13:4, Matt. 19:9, Gal. 5:19-21). Unfortunately in
our American culture, cohabitation with the opposite sex often manifests
in sexual immorality and fornication. According to the survey released in
April 2013 by the National Center for Health Statistics, which is part of the
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly half of American
couples between the ages of 15-44 years of age live together before marriage.
Of the 50,000 couples interviewed, nearly 20 percent became pregnant and
gave birth after only one year of co-habitation. According to the report, the
statistics of pregnancy and birth increased the longer a couple co-habited.
The lead demographer with the National Center for Health Statistics,
Casey Copen, affirmed in a U.S. News and World Report article written in
April of 2013 just after the statistics were released, “As you cohabit longer,
there's more of a chance to become pregnant.” The report suggests that
living together implies sexual relations, and in the current U.S. culture, living
together and having children does not imply that one is married, but it does
imply sexual relations. God condemns sexual relations outside the marriage
bed and warns that no fornicator “shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1
Cor. 6:9-10). No Christian should knowingly put themselves in a position
that would damage their influence and cause implications of living in sin, or
even advocating the sin. If a Christian man or woman lives with a member
of the opposite sex, it implies that they advocate and endorse living with
the opposite sex, which in American culture implies sexual immorality. “A
good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather
than silver and gold” (Prov. 22:1). The wisdom of God goes further to state,
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself ” (Prov. 22:3a). We
should avoid that which clearly leads to sin.
Paul met a similar situation in Corinth (1 Cor. 11:1-16). It was a custom
and tradition in the culture of ancient Corinth that women wore veils to
represent their submission to their husbands (vs. 3, 5). Women without veils
were considered to be harlots and rebellious (vs. 5-6). Christian women in
Corinth viewed their liberty in Christ as a reason to not wear a veil, but
Paul explains that because your culture deems uncovered women to be
shameful to their husbands, the wearing of veils should be honored because
it represents Christian principles. Paul does affirm that God speaks of no
command to wear veils universally, but he also explains that Christians should
endorse and honor cultural representations of Christian principles (1 Cor.
11:10-16). Just as living together in American culture implies sexual relations,
Christians should abstain from living together and uphold the practices
of not living together before marriage because it honors and reinforces
Christian principles. As Paul writes, “Abstain from all appearance of evil”
(1 Thess. 5:22). Basically, if we are single, we should live like we are single.
If we are married then we should live like we are married. Let us not feign
the life of what we are not.
More study and a friendly welcome will always await you at the
OSDH Encourages Preparedness for Winter Weather
As cooler temperatures make
their way into the state, the Oklahoma
State Department of Health
(OSDH) encourages the public to
begin preparation for the upcoming
winter weather season. Proper planning
can reduce the risk of injury
and illness while also ensuring a
family is prepared for a major winter
weather event.
Cold outdoor temperatures require
residents to monitor not only
their home temperature, but their
body temperature as well. Reports
from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) advises
infants less than 1 year of age should
never sleep in a cold room because
infants lose body heat more easily
than adults. In a sleeping area, babies
should not be wrapped in blankets,
but rather dressed in warmer
clothing such as footed pajamas.
Also, a baby’s face and head should
not be covered while sleeping. It
is important not to over bundle a
baby, because overheating can be
dangerous as well.
Parents and caregivers should
watch for signs of overheating,
such as sweating or the baby’s
chest feeling hot to the touch. If
a comfortable indoor temperature
cannot be maintained, temporary
arrangements should be made to
stay elsewhere.
It is also important for adults age
65 and older to remain in a warm
environment as they often make less
body heat because of a slower metabolism
and less physical activity.
Scott Sproat, director of the
OSDH Emergency Preparedness
and Response Service, said it’s important
to use caution when heating
a home with a fireplace, space heater
or wood stove, using them only
when they are properly vented.
“You can protect yourself from
carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning
by installing a battery-operated CO
detector,” said Sproat. “Never use
generators, grills, camp stoves, or
similar devices inside the house,
in basements, in garages, or near
windows. It’s also important to have
chimneys cleaned and inspected
each year.”
Other tips to prepare for winter
weather include:
• Wear multiple layers of
clothing to stay warm, as well as a
hat, scarf, mittens, a water-resistant
jacket and boots. Make sure you stay
as dry as possible, as water against
the skin from wet clothing can chill
the body quickly.
• Be prepared if basic services
such as water, gas, electricity
or telephones are cut off for an
extended period of time. Those
who depend on electricity to operate
medical equipment should have
alternate arrangements.
• Vehicles should be winterized
before winter storm season.
Check the tread on all tires and
make sure they are not too worn
to risk losing traction on the road.
Keep the gas tank full for emergency
use and to keep the fuel line from
freezing.
• Carry extra clothing, blankets
and high energy snacks, such as
trail mix or protein bars in your car
for protection if the car stalls.
• Bring pets/companion
animals inside during winter weather.
Move other animals or livestock
to sheltered areas with non-frozen
drinking water.
• Stay informed. Know
what National Weather Service winter
storm and blizzard watches and
warnings mean. Learn more about
weather advisories at www.nws.noaa.
gov.
Come meet Dr. Roy Greenway and let’s begin
“The Journey to a New, Healthier You”
Food
Packing
Party
Planned by
SWOSU
Student
Organization
The Baptist Collegiate Ministry
(BCM), a faith-based student organization
at Southwestern Oklahoma
State University, is hosting a food
packing party this Monday, December
11, in Weatherford.
The BCM is invited area residents
to help package and seal 20,000
meals that can be distributed as
needed to help fight hunger and
food insecurity in western Oklahoma.
The packing party is at 7 p.m.
at the BCM Building, located at
the southeast edge of the SWOSU
campus.
“Recently, at a Leadership Weatherford
event, SWOSU Vice President
of Student Affairs Dr. Ruth
Boyd said food insecurity is a current
trend that SWOSU Student Services
is seeing,” said Scott Hume, director
of the BCM. “An increasing number
of college students are able to pay
their tuition, rental and utilities,
but are not able to find consistent,
healthy eating options.”
Hume said this was alarming
to the BCM and the student organization
wants to assist not only
SWOSU students but also this area
of the state.
The meals will then be distributed
to the Weatherford Ministerial
Alliance, Weatherford Food and
Resource Center and SWOSU.
For additional information about
the upcoming packing party, contact
Hume at 580-302-3575.

Cheyenne Speech Students Compete at Arnett
In the first qualifying speech
contest of the season for the Cheyenne
speech students, they came
away with huge successes. Saturday,
Mrs. Watson, Cheyenne Speech and
Drama Director, took five students
to Arnett to compete in a Class 3A
qualifying speech contest. Among
the students were, Halie Sanderford,
Taylor Choate, Ashley Tracy, Callee
Lester and Hailey Ramos.
Hailey Ramos competed in the
novice division, which is for junior
high students. In the novice division
the students do not advance to Regionals
but are able to medal. This
was Hailey’s first contest and she
placed third with her monologue.
A monologue is a six minute speech
that is part comedy and part drama.
Hailey did a great job and is looking
forward to competing in the next
contest.
Taylor Choate competed in three
different events, which included:
monologue, humorous duet, and
humorous interpretation. Halie
Sanderford placed third and qualified
to compete at Regionals with
her poetry piece. Ashley Tracy, first
time participant, placed second and
qualified to compete at Regionals
with her dramatic interpretation.
Callee Lester placed first and qualified
to compete at Regionals with
her dramatic interpretation.
All five of these girls worked
hard and are continuously preparing
their speeches for the next speech
contest. Mrs. Watson could not be
more proud of these girls and their
hard work and dedication.
Student of the Month:
Caden Blume
L-R: Callee Lester, Ashley Tracy, Hailey Ramos, Taylor Choate & Halie Sanderford
Caden Blume is student of the
month for November. He has lived
in Cheyenne seven years. Caden’s
parents are Jay and Jennifer Blume.
He has one brother Colton and one
sister Cortney.
Caden is involved in band, academics
and art club. Caden’s hobbies
include reading and computer
programing. His favorite class is
band because the act of coming
together to make music is wonderful.
Caden’s favorite restaurant
is Kentucky Fried Chicken. After
graduation Kaden plans on attending
SWOSU to get a computer
science degree.
Mrs. Moore, the high school
principal, presented Caden with the
following gifts from local merchants
as a part of the “Student of the
Month” award: a free dinner from
Las Casuelas, Zoe’s and Becky’s
Place, a free 32 oz drink from Johnny
Mc’s and a gift certificate from
Cheyenne Floral. The Cheyenne
High School students, administration,
staff, and faculty congratulate
Caden for receiving this honor.
Lady Bears Fall to the
Lady Warriors
Hammon
Score 1 2 3 4 Final
Cheyenne/Reydon 13 10 7 16 46
Hammon 16 7 15 14 52
The Lady Bears lost a tough one to the Lady Warriors 52-46. Hammon
jumped to an early 16-8 lead but then the Lady Bears went on a 15-0 run to
take a 23-18 lead with 3 minutes left in the half. However, the Lady Bears
were unable to score after this and Hammon tied the score going into the
break. The drought continued in the third for the Lady Bears and Hammon
opened up a 38-28 lead going into the 4th quarter. The Lady Bears battled
back and cut it to 41-40 with three minutes left but missed a couple open
looks to take the lead and were forced to foul. Trailing 45-40 Amber Smith
hit a trey with 1:27 left and the Lady Bears called a time out and set up the
press. Catelyn Brewster got a steal and the Lady Bears had the ball with a
chance to tie or take the lead but an ill timed turnover allowed Hammon
to get a run out layup and open the lead back up. They held on for a 52-46
win. Amber Smith and Catelyn Brewster led the way with 12 points each
while Alie Parkhurst pulled down 7 rebounds and did an outstanding job
on Hammon’s big post girl. Jaci Scott and Haley Whiteneck played well
off the bench for the Lady Bears. Morgan Miller had 21 for the visitors.
Scoring: Catelyn Brewster-12, Amber Smith-12, Jasmine Boyett-9, Alie
Parkhurst-7, Jacie Scott-6.
Coaches Comments: We played hard and did a lot of things right but
did a poor job after the first quarter on limiting Miller’s drives to the basket.
They outshot us 21-0 on the free throw line the second half which
was the difference in the game. Jasmine picked up her 3rd and 4th foul
midway through the third quarter and had to sit and they opened up a lead
heading into the 4th which we worked hard to overcome. We had our
chances down the stretch but failed to execute. We have to learn from our
mistakes and keep getting better. We had 10 bad defensive possessions
and our goal is zero.
The Lady Bears ended their 3-game losing streak with a 52-30 win over
and opened up a 25-8 half time lead. Faith Bryan hit all 6 of her points in
the first half to key the attack. Arapaho made a run in the third quarter
and cut the lead to 29-21 before the Lady Bears once again caught fire aided
by several turnovers and cruised to a 22-point victory. Amber Smith hit a
trey in every quarter as she scored a season high 14 points to lead the way.
Alie Parkhurst hit for 12 while Haley Whiteneck and Jasmine Boyett each
had 3 steals. Catelyn Brewster had 4 assists.
Coaches Comments: We played much more aggressive and our bench
play was very strong as Jaci, Faith and Haley all played well. Alie posted
hard and we made a concerted effort to get the ball inside and were able
to make the defense collapse which opened up opportunities. It was a
much-needed win.
Bears Suffer First Loss;
Win First Game of
5-County Tournament
The Cheyenne/Reydon Bears suffered their first lost to the Hammon
Warriors last Tuesday night in a tough fought battle. The Warriors won
51-49 despite great efforts from Hunter Roark who finished with 14 and
Hunter Whiteneck who finished with 13. The Bears went 7/18 from the
free-throw line, going just 3/13 in the fourth quarter.
The Bears bounced back with a win over the Sayre Eagles Friday night
in a very physical match-up. The Bears won the game with great shooting
from senior swing man Zane Kinnaman who had four 3's and finished with
16 points. Sophomore point guard Hunter Whiteneck also had 16 points
and Senior point forward Hunter Roark had 15 points.
Monday night was the first round of the 5-County Tournament where the
#13 ranked Bears earned a #2 seed matching up with the Sentinel Bulldogs.
The Bears looked a little under the weather the first half but managed to
put the Bulldogs away winning the contest 44-26. The Bears were lead in
the scoring column by Sophomore Hunter Whiteneck who had 18 points
and Senior Hunter Roark who put in 13 points. The Cheyenne/Reydon
Bears will face the #7 ranked Arapaho/Butler Indians Thursday evening
@ 5:20 in the Semi-finals of the 5-County Tournament.
