HIS MAJESTY KING HAMAD
BIN ISA AL KHALIFA
On 6 March 1999, His Majesty King Hamad
bin Isa Al Khalifa was named the ruler
of Bahrain. Within the first years of his
reign, His Majesty changed the ruling
system in the country into a constitutional
Monarchy in accordance with The National
Action Charter prepared by a national
committee. His Majesty implemented
democracy as a way of rule, with
people participation and parliament
activity playing a major role in the
governance of the country.
His Majesty’s wisdom
and vision are seen in the
progressive reforms initiated
by him to ensure general
freedom, encourage political
participation, and enable
women’s rights. His Majesty
was the first leader to
initiate the establishment
of a united Gulf parliament
that includes members
of the GCC. These
reforms have opened
doors for Bahrainis
to participate in the
country’s development
and attracted more
Arab and international
investment into the
country. His Majesty
has worked tirelessly
to enhance Bahrain’s
role in promoting world
peace and stability.
