LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The elementary campus has been very
busy in the 2nd quarter, with our community
outreach, fundraisers, and preparing
for our Christmas concerts and musical.
I received so much positive feedback on
how amazing our students were at the
concerts. People were amazed with the
Maria Pauley: Principal
dynamic song selections and the confidence
the children showed while performing at KaMakana Ali’I
and at the Taste of Waipahu. GREAT JOB!
Our school’s Akamai Club, participated in the Kapolei Hale’s
“Forest of Trees”, by creating handmade, beautiful, angel ornaments
for our tree. Thank you to Mrs. McKinney for your idea
and leadership. Swing by Kapolei Hale to see our Christmas tree.
Also, 6th Grade and the Akamai Club had a blast being a part of
the Waipahu Town Christmas parade. This is our 5th year participating!
They passed out candy and wished the community a
Merry Christmas! The trolley ride was so much fun. Thank you
to our parents who brought in decorations and helped decorate.
Finally, I would like to proceed with re-surfacing our playground
area and replacing our upstairs water fountain with a water filling
station by Spring Break! If you have not paid your fundraising
fee of $200 for 1st semester please, do so immediately, the
2nd semester fee will be due, no later than end of 3rd quarter.
Your participation will ensure the safety and fun of our students.
God Bless,
Principal Pauley
YOU’RE INVITED
For Unto Us
UNIFORMS
Uniform Update
December 2017
We would like to extend a warm invitation
to you and your family to join us December
24th for our Annual Candlelight Service.
The service begins at 6:00 pm.
ATTENTION! Pueo Print is our new
uniform company and they were a
success on the last day of school with their
“pop-up” shop in campus. Parents were able
to try and buy! Please, make sure your children’s
uniforms fit properly before they return
in January. You can visit them at the old
Campus Creations location and online at:
MOLOKAI SWEETBREAD FUNDRAISER
Resurfacing Playground Mat
Molokai Sweetbread has always been a great fundraiser for Lanakila. It is the perfect accompaniment to
your Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Sales for Thanksgiving helped us raise $1,915 toward the resurfacing
of our playground mat.
The Christmas order must be picked up on Wednesday, December 20th from 11:00-1:00 pm.

LANAKILA BAPTIST ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE 2017
Helping those in Need!
October 2nd Lanakila kicked off its 17th annual food drive. On November 20th, students from the elementary, along
with high school NHS and staff members loaded 10,867 lbs. of food into a truck and delivered it to River of Life Mission.
5,903 lbs. of the food was donated just at the elementary. One can of food, or one bag of rice doesn’t seem like
much, but when everyone does a part, well there is no telling what can be done!
“And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple,
verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
The Journey of a Shoebox!
It starts with You and results in blessing children in need
around the world. But it doesn’t stop there. Packing shoeboxes
provides students with an opportunity to actively
open their hearts up to others. The Word of God says,
“Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto the
least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”
Matthew 25:40. WHAT AN HONOR!
93 BOXES COLLECTED!
JANUARY CALENDAR
Calendar Change
Spirit Week has been
moved to the week of January
22nd-26th. The school
carnival will be held on Friday,
January 26th. Themes
for each day will be sent
home at a later time.
SNOW DAY
Burr...It’s Cold Outside
Thursday, December 14th it snowed at Lanakila. What a wonderful time the students
had playing in the snow. For some of our students and faculty it was a first
“snow” they had seen.
