MEET OUR MEMBERS Mario Pavez BUSINESS MANAGER mpavez@nordex-online.com Mario is the Business Manager of Nordex Group for Latin America. He is an Electric Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Catòlica de Chile, with a Masters in Science from the same university and an MBA from the London Business School. He has over 10 years of experience in renewable energies, mainly in business development and projects. What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of NCREs? Nordex is one of the main wind-turbine manufacturers in the world, with over 18GW of installed power, contributing to wind energy generation across the whole world. Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your Company? Nordex Group resulted from the purchase in 2016 of the Spanish wind-turbine manufacturer Acciona Windpower, by Nordex SE, a German wind-turbine manufacturer. We have faced several organizational changes since then, aimed at fostering our product portfolio, with the purpose of delivering the best customer service. Most notable of this merger has been the synergy between both companies. What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans, where are the located and which are their main characteristics? Our products include turbines mounted on concrete towers. We have already begun the installation of the temporary factory of 120-meter concrete towers to supply the San Gabriel wind project, of 183MW, in La Araucanía. Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company? We are a company that cares about delivering excellent-quality equipment at the best price, and as such, we are an ideal supplier for highly-competitive markets as energy tenders. We also have a wide range of solutions that may be adapted to each client’s diverse projects and needs. How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system? The contribution of renewable energy to the system is crucial for the country to stop depending on imported resources, and, at the same time, to reach a clean energy matrix. In fact, they are so important that- in a not too distant future- they will no longer be “non-conventional”, supplying the country with clean, safe and sustainable energy. Why would you recommend being an ACERA member? The importance of belonging to a guild representing the interests of the sector is fundamental. ACERA has positioned itself as a valid interlocutor within the industry, being able of generating the debate required to foster the development of our industry. Jaime Solari GENERAL MANAGER jsolari@sgasa.cl Jaime is a Civil Engineer from the Chilean University and has a Ph.D. from the London University. He has over 30 years of experience in mining, metallurgy, energy, carbon, environmental management and strategic environmental assessment areas. What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of NCREs? SGA provides environmental management services such as the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, Pertinence Letters, Audits and Baselines, among others. In the NCRE field, we have worked in the environmental authorization of many photovoltaic projects, and in the environmental assessment of photovoltaic and wind projects. Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your Company? During the last few years, we have implemented SAP, the world-class ERP, focusing on financial-accounting and human resources processes. SGA operates following the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, which defines the guidelines of good practices in administration, customer management, training and work environment, among other relevant aspects. What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans, where are the located and which are their main characteristics? Among the many NCRE projects we have worked on, we can highlight the Chañaral de Aceituno Wind Farm, the Lagunas Solar Park, the Vallenar Solar Park, the Quilapilun Solar Park, the Aguas Blancas Solar Park, the Sol de Atacama Photovoltaic Park, the Ovalle II Solar Park, the Willka Photovoltaic Park, the Peldehue Solar Park, and the Don Sebastian Solar Park. Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company? The company has developed values aimed at providing environmental consulting services with a sustainable development vision. Thus, every solution provided to the customers tries to balance environmental protection with economic development and equity, in a framework of social harmony and respect for the communities involved. How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system? One of the advantages of this kind of centrals is their zero or low greenhouse emissions, with the subsequent positive impact on the environment. The advance of NCRE in the country provides a 100% viable energy solution versus energy megaprojects with a high environmental impact, avoiding the reliance on a unique source of energy and diversifying the matrix. Why would you recommend being an ACERA member? ACERA plays a key role in communicating the multiple benefits of NCRE investment for this country, its population and those who carry out these projects. It is essential to have an entity capable of centralizing one vision and representing it in front of the country’s authorities and the stakeholders in general.
