Computer Animation<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
This class introduces the basics of<br />
computer animation, starting with simple<br />
GIF animations in Adobe Photoshop and<br />
progressing to Adobe Animate, where the<br />
foundations of keyframes, shape tweens,<br />
motion-tweens, and the bone tool are<br />
presented. The class culminates with<br />
Blender, a state-of-the-art 3D animation<br />
software suite. Students’ animation projects<br />
are uploaded onto personal websites.<br />
Video Editing & Special Effects<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
Students learn to edit video and do postproduction<br />
special effects work using<br />
high-end software such as Adobe Premiere<br />
Pro and After Effects. The main objective is<br />
trimming clips and constructing well-paced<br />
and visually exciting video sequences. The<br />
course emphasizes the fine arts of color<br />
correction and audio editing to give films<br />
a professional appearance and balanced<br />
sound. Additionally, students learn basic<br />
keyframing and color keying with a green<br />
screen.<br />
Access <strong>Prep</strong>: Broadcasting 1<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
This course prepares students to produce<br />
a monthly multimedia news broadcast for<br />
the <strong>Sandia</strong> <strong>Prep</strong> community via YouTube.<br />
Course topics include developing a<br />
basic working knowledge of digital<br />
video cameras, sound and video editing,<br />
interviewing techniques, lighting effects,<br />
creating news and feature stories, and<br />
honing public speaking and presentation<br />
skills for modern media applications.<br />
Student roles include cameraman, reporter,<br />
editor, and web host. Students use high-end<br />
cameras, audio and lighting equipment, as<br />
well as professional video and audio editing<br />
software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud<br />
Suite 2017: Premiere, PhotoShop, Audition,<br />
and After Effects.<br />
Access <strong>Prep</strong>: Broadcasting 2<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
This course builds on the various techniques<br />
and programs that are introduced in Access<br />
<strong>Prep</strong>: Broadcasting 1.<br />
Webpage Design<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
Students combine creative vision<br />
with technical knowledge to produce<br />
informative, appealing, and easy-touse<br />
websites. In this hands-on course,<br />
students explore strategies to effectively<br />
communicate using the internet. Students<br />
learn about internet structure, site<br />
layout, style and content, and use web<br />
development tools and languages such as<br />
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to achieve their<br />
design objectives. Websites created are<br />
uploaded to a live web server.<br />
