According to Kurtis Blow and Pete DJ Jones, Hollywood was the first rapper in the hip-hop style,<br />
making him the “Father” of the Hip Hop style. Before Hollywood introduced “Hip Hop style”<br />
rapping, he had already impacted DJing by creating a set that included singing, rhyming, and call and<br />
response, where he interacted with the crowd. An example would be Hollywood saying, “If you’re feeling<br />
good with Hollywood somebody say, Oh yeah!” And the crowd would shout back: “Oh yeah!” Some of his<br />
creations other rappers have been using for the last 30 years such as “throw ya hands in the air and wave<br />
‘em like you just don’t care.”

<strong>DDT</strong> Summer Madness X was our<br />
10th Anniversary Trip. We had initially<br />
tried to go to St Lucia, because<br />
that’s the place where I conceptualized<br />
starting <strong>DDT</strong>- but they didn’t<br />
have a Resort large e<strong>no</strong>ugh to accommodate<br />
our large group. I looked<br />
at several Resorts and settled on<br />
the Hard Rock Heaven. The added<br />
bonus was it had an Adults Only<br />
section too. We contracted the Soul<br />
Singer Jeff Redd, Hip Hop Legends<br />
“Nice and Smooth”, Comedian<br />
Capone (and friends) and 6 DJs:<br />
The incredible DJ Hollywood, The<br />
Harlem Show Stopper DJ Danny<br />
Dee, WBLS own DJ Tommy Allen,<br />
The Great DJ Sylk, The GoGo Pro<br />
DJ Rob and the Hip Hop specialist<br />
DJ Ha. We had an appearance by<br />
the Twin Poets who did a couple of<br />
recitals. We had our Sunday Sermon<br />
with Brother Juice man and Rev Dr.<br />
Irie Session and 2 Charity Drives.<br />
Our Theme parties were superb: Pajama<br />
Party, Harlem Nights Ball, All<br />
Star Sports Jersey Party, Pool/Foam<br />
parties.<br />
Concert on the Beach and finishing<br />
with our Egyptian Pharaohs and<br />
Queens party. We also had our first<br />
wedding with 2 <strong>DDT</strong> Family members:<br />
Billy and Jacqui, jumping the<br />
broom. The after parties were live<br />
at the Club with a pool for a dance<br />
floor. The accommodations were<br />
luxurious with rooftop suites, gourmet<br />
food and top shelf liquor.<br />

This moment was so unreal to me, it completely caught me off<br />
guard. This is a group of people that I met on a trip that I went<br />
on alone after the doctor’s gave me 6 months before I became<br />
blind and paralyzed and was told in 2013 that there is <strong>no</strong> need<br />
to come back to the hospital because of my very rare brain disease.<br />
I saw this group on FB a few months later and I took the<br />
chance to travel alone with them. Not one person knew my story<br />
then but 4 years later, over 200 new friends and an Award.<br />
