SELECTIVE WEED CONTROL
Selective weed control is really
important if you want to maximise
not only the aesthetic appeal of
your natural surfaces, but also the
playability and resistance to wear.
SCARIFYING
Scarifying removes thatch and
dead moss, and will also prune
the shoots of the grass plant
which will encourage stronger
growth.
TOPDRESS
Top-dressing will correct surface
irregularities and improve the
texture of difficult soils. This
encourages greater rooting and
thickening of grass.
OVERSEEDING
Overseeding will help in-fill
damaged or thinned areas,
improve the aesthetics and colour,
and reduce weed and moss
invasion.
FERTILISER
Through rain or irrigation
nutrients will over time leech out
of soil, Fertilising will prevent
nutrient deficiency and disease
and will encourage healthy
growth.
VERTIDRAIN
Vertidraining de-compacts soil by
using tines to penetrate the ground
allowing water and air to disperse to
the grass roots, this alleviates growth
issues by allowing air into the root
system.
SOIL TESTING
Soil testing will identify
contaminated soil, diseases and
nutrient deficiences and will assist
with the implementation of the
required fertiliser programme.
MOWING
Grass should be maintained at
between 25 & 30 mm in the
playing season to ensure a safe
and playable suface
MARKING
Line marking of sports pitches is
required to ensure a fully visible
playing area. How often a pitch is
over-marked varies with usage
and conditions.
