Do's &
The
Of Don'ts
Wrap
Vehicle
Design
1
DO SIZE UP THE JOB AND
TAKE PHOTOS
Size up the vehicle by taking photographs and
measurements of the sides, hood, rear, and
bumpers before starting the designing
process. Try to take direct photographs of the
brakes, rivets, door handles, and other parts.
While taking pictures you can plan for any
customization or paint and body issues which
is vital for quoting and planning a wrap.
2
DON’T RELY SOLELY ON
DIGITAL TEMPLATES WITHOUT
SEEING THE VEHICLE
A template can provide you a dimensional
outline of the vehicle and a digital canvas to
work on but won’t alert you to the unique
problems which you may encounter. After
cutting and printing a wrap, if you find out
that your client has attached a custom
bumper, then it can cost you valuable time
and money.
3
DO RESEARCH YOUR CLIENT
AND CREATE A PLAN OF
ACTION
Knowledge is always important for any great
design and so it is better to talk with your
client about what design, color, message, and
composition they like. Research other design
ideas currently in the marketplace and bring
all the information in one place to create a
proper plan-of-action.
4
DON’T OVERCROWD YOUR
DESIGN
Avoid overcrowding your vehicle wrap with
imagery and design templates even though they
are traditionally very colorful and eye-catching.
Try to make your designs simple and obvious
with high-level of sophistication. This will make
your vehicle wrap message stand out from noisy
backgrounds and unnecessarily clutters.
5
DO USE BOLD COLORS AND
BOLD DESIGN
Vehicle wraps are always big, bold, and
exciting so that it gets easily noticed. While
creating your design, think larger-than-life
graphics which people will remember after
watching. Having such a large canvas to
work on, it always provides an opportunity to
be bold.
6
DON’T PUT TOO MUCH
ADVERTISING COPY IN YOUR
DESIGN
Advertising copy should be kept to a
minimum as too much of it can be
distracting on a vehicle wrap. A web or
social address, a phone number, a short
message and a strong brand identity is all
you need to make a good advertising copy
in your design.
