Irene Tefka Becker<br />

Irene Tefka Becker, 95, of Northbrook, died. She<br />

was the dearly beloved wife of the late Maurice<br />

Tefka; cherished mother of Ruth (Earle) Horwitz<br />

and Edward (Bonnie) Tefka; devoted grandmother<br />

to David (Barb) Lotsoff, Mathew (Karyn) Tefka<br />

and Elyse (Scott) Radford; “GG” to Moriah and<br />

Micah Lotsoff, Addison, Paige and Ryan Tefka,<br />

and Peyton, Taylor and Camden Radford.<br />

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to<br />

George R. McKay Jr.<br />

George Robert “Bob” McKay Jr.,<br />

85, of Northbrook, died Jan. 5.<br />

He was the beloved husband of Janet nee Gustafson;<br />

loving father of James (Rachel) McKay,<br />

Deborah (Michael) Kennedy and Thomas (Lisa)<br />

McKay; cherished grandfather of Matthew Kennedy,<br />

Brian Kennedy, Shannon (Brent) Shiver,<br />

Michael Kennedy II, Ryan (Nicole) McKay, Connor<br />

McKay, Patrick McKay, Maddie McKay and<br />

Nina McKay; adoring great-grandfather of Jackson<br />

Shiver; and proud papa of Tsunami.<br />

McKay was born in Chicago and grew up in<br />

Evanston. He graduated from Northwestern University,<br />

where he played football. After college,<br />

he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War<br />

and remained in the Naval Reserves in the years<br />

following. While in the Naval Reserves McKay<br />

became a banker, which became his career. McKay<br />

was always very active and was an avid skier,<br />

sailor and fisherman.<br />

Phillip R. Peterson<br />

Phillip R. Peterson, 88, of Northbrook, died Jan.<br />

3.<br />

He was the beloved husband for 58 years of<br />

Patricia Peterson nee Galbreath; loving father of<br />

Sue Peterson, Sally (Kevin) McCarthy and Sandy<br />

(Paul) Veith; cherished grandfather of Wallis and<br />

Remy Peterson, Molly and Katie McCarthy, Eric,<br />

Lauren and Ryan Veith; fond brother of Larry Peterson<br />

(Brenda Bazan), David (Judy) Peterson, and<br />

the late Sharon (David) Brostrom.<br />

Peterson was a CPA and received a B.S. in Accounting<br />

and Finance from Bradley University<br />

where he was a member of Pi Gamma Mu National<br />

Honorary Society and the Federation of Bradley<br />

Scholars. He was selected for recognition in the<br />

1950-51 Who’s Who Among Students in American<br />

Universities and Colleges.<br />
