“I was volunteering at
the Heartland Animal Shelter
after my dog passed
away,” Isaacson said. “I
had no intention of adopting
another dog when Banjo
came over and put his
head on my knee, claiming
me as his human. “I could
not refuse Banjo. He now
goes to nursing homes and
schools to help children
with reading problems. I
love to see the children laying
down next to the dogs
and hugging them in this
[K-9 Reading Buddies]
program It is so precious.”
The Northbrook Library
holds the Reading Buddies
program the third Tuesday
of every month. Registration
