After School N<strong>at</strong>ure Explorers Club<br />

N<strong>at</strong>ure Explorers Club is designed for school-age children (ages 6-10,<br />

K-5 th ) who are interested in investig<strong>at</strong>ing the n<strong>at</strong>ural world. Each month<br />

we will explore a different ecology topic, focusing on our own n<strong>at</strong>ive<br />

plants and animals. We will make a craft to take home, go on a n<strong>at</strong>ure<br />

hike, dip-net for fish and tadpoles in the ponds and get to know the<br />

plants and animals of the Bayou City! Fee/reserv<strong>at</strong>ions are required.<br />

OWL PROWLS<br />

Houston Audubon Docent Guild sponsors 4 owl prowls for the 2017-<br />

18 season. Owl prowls begin with a lively program on owls including<br />

an opportunity to meet live, rehabilit<strong>at</strong>ed owls followed by a walk in<br />

the woods in search of wild owls. For more inform<strong>at</strong>ion, to reserve<br />

and pay online go to www.houstonaudubon.org. Owl Prowl d<strong>at</strong>es are<br />

<strong>February</strong> 2, <strong>2018</strong> and March 9, <strong>2018</strong>. Owl Prowls start <strong>at</strong> 7 PM, end <strong>at</strong> 9<br />

PM and begin in the log cabin <strong>at</strong> the Edith L Moore N<strong>at</strong>ure Sanctuary.<br />

The fee is $12 for adults and $8 for children (ages 6-17). All prowlers<br />

must be <strong>at</strong> least 6 years of age and there must be <strong>at</strong> least one adult<br />

present for each two children. Dress for walking in the woods and the<br />

we<strong>at</strong>her. Please park in the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church<br />

west parking lot <strong>at</strong> 12955 Memorial Drive or the Sanctuary’s small lot<br />

<strong>at</strong> 440 Wilchester. Pre-registr<strong>at</strong>ion is required and there is a maximum<br />

number of participants for each prowl.<br />

Community VFD also provides emergency medical services (EMS)<br />

and provides opportunities for individuals with a Texas EMS<br />

certific<strong>at</strong>ion to serve their community.<br />
