About Katy Taste Fest: Katy Taste Fest aspires to turn tasters into diners.
The festival explores the city’s diverse dining scene by sampling tastes
from local restaurants. Attendees can enjoy cooking demonstrations,
live entertainment, a silent auction and family-friendly activities for
food lovers of all ages. Katy Taste Fest supports several local charities
that focus on vulnerable children, including Katy Cares, ZOE, Krause
Children’s Center, Helping Kids Ministry and Armor of Hope Foundation.
Call For Artists: Bayou City Art Festival
Memorial Park 2018
Bayou City Art Festival, produced by Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA),
is inviting artists from around the country to submit applications and
have the opportunity to showcase their art at the nation’s premier spring
outdoor fine art event Friday-Sunday, March 23-25, 2018.
ACA produces Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park in the spring and
Bayou City Art Festival Downtown in the fall. Now entering its 47 th year,
ACA has provided a venue for over 20,000 artists to showcase their work
to thousands of art lovers from all over the world. Patrons have the
opportunity to personally meet the artist, view original works and purchase
world class art. The festival benefits local non-profits and features music,
food, beverages, entertainment, a Children’s Creative Zone and much more
for people of all ages to come and enjoy the city and the festival.
Twice a year, over 1,000 qualified applicants from 19 different disciples
submit their applications to be reviewed by the ACA jurors. For each
festival, a new juror panel is invited and consists of artists, collectors
and industry professionals. The panel of five to seven jurors are selected
based on their specific interests, professional knowledge and background
with the festival. Only 300 artists will be selected to exhibit at the 2018
Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park. Cash Prizes are awarded for “Best
in Show,” second and third, as selected by on-site judges. Ribbons are
awarded for “Best Booth” and all winners receive jury exempt status for
two years as well as priority booth placement.

Sporting Clay Tournament Fundraiser
Benefiting The Ballard House (501©3)
Once again, The Ballard House will be having its annual Sporting Clay
Tournament Fundraiser at the Westside Sporting Grounds (Brookshire,
TX) on Saturday, February 24, 2018.
Executive Director, Kathy Alt states, “This is an important time in the life
of our organization after being effected by Hurricane Harvey. The Ballard
House is still rebuilding and will reopen soon and be even bigger and
better than before due to all the hard work of our volunteers and people
in the greater Katy area.”
The Sporting Clay Tournament is tremendous in helping to raise the
necessary operational funds to keep the doors open at The Ballard
House. Teams compete with their shooting skills for fun and fundraising
to benefit this great cause. Teams and individuals can register on the
website or by calling the number provided. Lots of sporting activities
are planned throughout the day with the tournament starting at 9 AM
and concluding with lunch and a program. The Ballard House provides
a safe, family-friendly environment and home-away-from-home
for those undergoing life threatening illnesses and treatment in the
Houston area, all at no-cost. Patients come to The Ballard House from
