Darlaston Town (1874) 4 Bromyard Town 3<br />

Saturday 20th January 2018 Kick Off 2 pm<br />

Following an herculean effort by their volunteer ground staff Darlaston Town (1874)<br />

managed not only to beat Bromyard Town to secure a vital 3 points but also the<br />

prevailing severe weather condi=ons. An already wet pitch which was perfectly<br />

playable at 11.30 am then endured more than two hours of snow puCng the game in<br />

serious doubt. Even as heavy snow was falling the ground staff worked =relessly to<br />

ensure the game was the only game in the area to take place and one of only 4 in the<br />

en=re league to take place, the other 3 all being in Shropshire which suffered li;le<br />

snow.<br />

started with a bang as the<br />

home side took a first minute<br />

Hough whose effort was<br />

parried by keeper Alex<br />

Rhodes into the path of Sam<br />

Giles whose well hit shot from<br />

a =ght angle found the net. Giles was not finished and a minute later a second goal<br />

bound effort was well saved by keeper Rhodes.<br />

Bromyard didn't have to wait long to get back in the game the equaliser coming in the<br />

3rd minute, a fine ball out of defence by Nathan Myers found forward Liam Hodges,<br />

the impressive striker saw keeper Aaron Morris off his line and hit a 40-yard<br />

measured lob which beat the back-peddling Morris to level the scores.<br />

Bromyard could have taken the lead in the 9th minute Dalmacio Francisco missing a<br />

one on one chance from 8 yards out but keeper Morris was up to the task bringing off<br />

a fine save. Bromyard didn't have to wait long as they took the lead on 13 minutes. A<br />

fine interchange of passes between Martyn Smith and Liam Hodges leD Hodges to<br />
