Appeal for Financial Support Dear Scripture Union Supporter, The year 2017 has been a year of much growth in ministry with large attendances at SU Camps, many full and including a second Family Week. We have had continued increase in the mid-week retreats to over 50 schools with approx. 1600 students. We launched the NUA Film series in March and in the space of seven months we have distributed over 700 NUA packs with approx. 10,000 participants. Most exciting has been the take up by over 200 secondary schools, so we are over quarter of the way to our target of reaching the 800 schools throughout Ireland. We are in the process of developing a major new Scripture based resource called Dynamite for 6th class students preparing for confirmation and this has significant potential. Staff wise we recruited an Admin person for our Volunteer Management and Garda Vetting, which is now a legal requirement under Child Protection and created a new role of Retreat Coordinator at Ovoca Manor and before the year end we will recruit a part time Admin/ Marketing role on a one-year contract for the NUA project to support all the admin, data gathering and follow up with schools and groups using the resource with an added element of finding new sources of income for the project. The total turnover in 2017 exceeds a million euro and was €1,083,013 with estimated expenditure of 1,041,817. This reflects the significant amount of ministry activity and with a current staff of 23 which includes part time cleaning and catering staff at Ovoca Manor as well as three full time Interns and over 300 Volunteers.
