children volunteer and Josiah proceeds<br />
to trace the text from 1 John 4:8: GOD IS<br />
LOVE!<br />
The amazing thing is that this simple, life<br />
transforming message of God’s Love,<br />
continues to be communicated to<br />
children and young people from all over<br />
Ireland today through the ministry of<br />
Scripture Union, through camps, retreats,<br />
in schools and mid-week retreats at<br />
Ovoca Manor as well as parishes and<br />
communities by our 20 staff and over 250<br />
Volunteers. 2017 was possibly the<br />
busiest year for ministry in my 18 years as<br />
General Director. Some 1559 attended<br />
our Camps and Missions, over 1600<br />
participated in in-school and mid-week<br />
retreats, over 10,000 people viewed the<br />
NUA Film series and several hundred<br />
participated in our Primary age ministry.<br />
Behind all these facts is the amazing<br />
impact that the same life changing<br />
message of Jesus Christ is having in the<br />
hearts of these children and young<br />
people.<br />
Throughout this <strong>Inspire</strong> Magazine you will<br />
read uplifting stories of the diversity of<br />
this ministry and especially of the many<br />
ways God is at work by His Spirit.<br />
I wish therefore to extend my heartfelt<br />
appreciation to all the SU Staff team,<br />
Board and Council members, all our<br />
Volunteers and to each of you our<br />
Supporters, without whom this ministry<br />
would not be possible<br />
