WILDERNESS TRAILS IN ADDICKS RESERVOIR<br />
If you are looking for a quick escape from the noise and concrete <strong>of</strong> west Houston, consider the wilderness trails in Addicks Reservoir. Bear Creek Pioneer<br />
Park re-opened last November and the area is now accessible. You can find maps and detailed information about the trails on www.hikingproject.com;<br />
search for “Addicks Reservoir.” Most <strong>of</strong> the trails are natural surface and are not actively maintained. On these wilderness trails you can encounter<br />
deer, raccoon, song birds and hawks as well as snakes, coyote, mosquitoes, fire ants and skunks. Some <strong>of</strong> the trails are muddy or boggy after rain. Be<br />
prepared and alert and please bring your trash out. (Note that the Corps <strong>of</strong> Engineers may close areas to access for wildlife control operations. Look for<br />
signs at the entrances to Noack Trail and Miles Trail and please do not enter the area if marked as closed.) Enjoy!<br />
