A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO 

Dear ASICS Team, 

Our world is changing right before our eyes. It is imperative 

that we infuse this brand with a renewed relevance to 

a broader audience. Today, is a pivotal moment for our 

brand as we reintroduce ourselves in a fresh and dynamic 

way. The beauty is, we didn’t have search hard to find this 

new direction. It’s rooted in our DNA, our rich history and 

the legacy set forth by Kirachiro Onitsuka 70 years ago. 

And, here we are today as we launch I MOVE ME in the 

Americas. This is more than a marketing campaign, it is our 

movement to inspire and empower people to MOVE in their 

own way. To embrace their own path towards a healthy 

and active life. 

How will we do this? Quite simply in everything we do and 

say from here on out. From our athletes to our product to 

our stores to our marketing to our partners and to you, our 

employees. 

To bring this to life, we needed the right voice. And what 

we found in Steve Aoki was the person who embodies and 

personifies this campaign and our brand through his own 

energetic non-stop movement. Recently, Steve dropped 

our new I MOVE ME anthem to more than 5.6 million 

of his Instagram followers (https://www.youtube.com/ 

user/steveaoki). The fully integrated marketing campaign 

launched October 18, 2017 on our social pages, inclusive of 

dynamic digital content, media coverage and activation of 

our network of athletes and influencers. And this is just the 

beginning as we plan to build on this campaign and effort 

into 2018 and beyond. 

This is the start of something special. I believe this is 

the first step in our transformation from a footwear 

manufacturer to a health and fitness brand. I hope you all 

will embrace this movement with me.

I MOVE ME 

So we will shift our approach: 

From functional to emotional. From athletes to youth. From running to movement. 

It’s not a change in our values or who we are, it’s a change in the way we communicate those values and our products. This began by going back to ASICS 

origins - Anima Sana In Corpore Sano - a sound mind in a sound body. We started unpacking that motto and working out what it really meant. 

When you move, you’ll find that everything you need to feel good is already inside you. Moving feels best when you don’t care what you look like doing it. It’s the 

easiest way in the world to find joy every day and you can do it anyway you want. You can make up your own rules.

It’s all about movement. And it’s different for everyone who reads it. It’s short. It’s powerful. It’s rich. 

We think we’re just beginning to scratch the surface of what this can be. 

In order to become a desirable brand for a younger audience we need to change how we talk to them. So, we will 

transform ASICS from a functional brand for athletes that run to an emotional brand for young people that move. 

Young people are caring less and less about imposed sports category formulas based on competition and 

winning. Being the number one in everything that they do is not making much sense anymore. More and more 

they’re caring about living the life that they want to, and this is redefining the way they frame success. 

Today’s success is about getting the most out of life. It’s about living free, in harmony and in balance. It’s about 

inner growth and happiness. Our message and belief, more than ever, ladders up to this vision and fit into 

the current mindset of our target “a sound mind in a sound body”. No other brand can tell this story with the 

authenticity and origins like we can.
