Excellence in Student Performance | Statement of Intent<br />

At Campbell Primary School we are committed to success for all students. We hold the belief that success is more than just achieving good grades.<br />

It is the maximum development of a student’s intellectual, social and emotional capacities. Through provision of a stimulating, engaging, innovative<br />

and supportive environment we strive to support each individual to achieve both a passion for learning and excellence in achievement.<br />

The Department of Education Services independent Review - <strong>2016</strong> commended leadership and staff for the positive academic and social outcomes<br />

achieved for all students, including those from a culturally-diverse community.<br />

Focus Areas<br />

Achieve excellence in student performance<br />

through enlisting high expectations and<br />

maintaining a high level of curriculum<br />

delivery in Western Australian Curriculum<br />

Phase One and commence implementing<br />

Phase Two.<br />

Enhance staff analysis and judgements on<br />

student performance information.<br />

Develop strategic, measurable long term<br />

targets in priority areas as identified from<br />

Within these identified focus areas we aim to<br />

achieve excellence in student improvement<br />

through implementing the strategies below:<br />

• Enhance and embed differentiation of the<br />

curriculum and a case management approach.<br />

• Continue to implement Campbell Literacy and<br />

Numeracy (CLAN) testing.<br />

• Develop staff reflective practice by actively<br />

engaging with student assessment data (individual<br />

and sub-groups) to inform teaching practice.<br />

• Self-review of academic achievement at a<br />

whole school, group and individual level to be<br />

linked to planning at a classroom level.<br />

• Development of curriculum scope and<br />

sequence documents that complement the<br />

Western Australian Curriculum.<br />

• Provide EAL/D specialist teaching time to<br />

support learning programs.<br />

• Strengthen whole school strategies that<br />

support improvement in Literacy and<br />

Numeracy, with a focus on reading.<br />

• Further develop expertise in educational<br />

assistants to support case management.<br />

• Further refine the Student Services portfolio to<br />

support and enable success for all students.<br />

• Maintain high expectations in academic and<br />

non- academic areas that lead to meaningful<br />

and externally recognised pathways beyond<br />

primary school.<br />

• Identify potential scholarship award winners<br />

from Year 5 and provide support to students<br />

and awareness to parents.<br />

• Further develop and implement the Academic<br />

Extension programme to create curriculum<br />

enrichment and acceleration.<br />

• Strengthen digital technologies across the<br />

school.<br />

Achievement Targets<br />

• Performance of case managed students<br />

improves from baseline assessments to followup<br />

assessments.<br />

• Increase the number of students eligible to<br />

effectively compete for scholarships and or<br />

specialist programmes.<br />

• Develop a digital technologies scope and<br />

sequence across the school.<br />

• Increased opportunities for students to be<br />

engaged in Gifted and Talented Education<br />

Programmes.<br />

• Increase number of Year 6 students achieving<br />

scholarships in Year 7.<br />

• Results from the Student National School<br />

Opinion Surveys continue to be positive,<br />

reflecting satisfaction with the school regarding<br />

engagement, safety and care for students.<br />

• Exit surveys continue to reflect above average<br />

to excellent overall satisfaction with Campbell<br />

Primary School.<br />

Literacy Targets<br />

• Continue to maintain positive growth and increase<br />

the numbers of students achieving 0.5 VEL or<br />

above in Pre-primary On-Entry Literacy.<br />

• High levels of Year 3 achievement in NAPLAN<br />

are sustained into Year 5.<br />

• Increase the percentage of Year 3 students<br />

achieving in the top 20% of the state in<br />

NAPLAN Reading to be above 35% , aspiring<br />

to be 40% or above by 2017.<br />

• Maintain or Increase the percentage of Year 5<br />

students achieving in the top 20% of the state<br />

in NAPLAN Reading and Writing to be above<br />

30% , aspiring to be 40% or above by 2017.<br />

• In Reading 10 students who were at or below<br />

National Minimum Standard in Year 5, 2015<br />

will be above National Minimum standard<br />

when tested again in Year 7, 2017.<br />

• In Writing 2 students who were at or below<br />

National Minimum Standard in Year 5, 2015<br />

will be above National Minimum standard<br />

when tested again in Year 7, 2017.<br />

• Year 5 NAPLAN results reflect consistency<br />

across domains tested in terms of achievement<br />

and progress with reading shifting to higher<br />

achievement quadrant by 2017.<br />

• Maintain positive results for EAL/D sub-group<br />

when compared to like schools, state and<br />

National means.<br />

Numeracy Targets<br />

• Increase the percentage of students achieving<br />

1.0 VEL or above in Pre-Primary<br />

• High levels of Year 3 achievement in NAPLAN<br />

are sustained into Year 5.<br />

• Maintain or increase the percentage of Year<br />

5 students achieving in the top 20% of the<br />

state in NAPLAN numeracy to be above 30% ,<br />

aspiring to be 40% or above by 2017.<br />

• In Numeracy 5 students who were at or below<br />

National Minimum Standard in Year 5, 2015<br />

will be above National Minimum standard<br />

when tested again in Year 7, 2017.<br />

• Yr 3-5 data will remain in the Higher<br />

Achievement quadrant when compared to<br />

like schools, aspiring to achieve in the higher<br />

achievement higher progress quadrant.<br />

• Maintain positive results for EAL/D sub-group<br />

when compared to like schools, state and<br />

National means.
