PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT<br />

This 3‐day course provides an overview of project management concepts <strong>and</strong> principles using lecture <strong>and</strong><br />

discussions. An integrated case study will provide students with a first‐h<strong>and</strong> opportunity to practice the theories<br />

<strong>and</strong> concepts discussed in the classroom throughout the course. This course is 100% compliant with the<br />

Project <strong>Management</strong> Institute's (PMI®) current Project <strong>Management</strong> Body of Knowledge. (PMBOK®).<br />

MANAGING IN THE COMPLEX MULTIPLE PROJECT ENVIRONMENT<br />

This course highlights & forward thinking organizations as they search for ways to increase their business<br />

success, they increasingly rely on project management professionals. Learn about the tools <strong>and</strong> techniques<br />

that help you to succeed in an increasingly complex project environment. Please note: there is a reading <strong>and</strong><br />

writing homework assignment on day one <strong>and</strong> day two of this program. These assignments should take approximately<br />

1 hour to complete each night.<br />

MANAGING IT PROJECTS<br />

The course allows each team to follow an I.T. project from design to completion, emulating the project management<br />

life cycle.<br />

CORE COMPETICIES FOR THE BUSINESS ANALYST<br />

This course explores the BA role, core BA functions, <strong>and</strong> the BABOK. Practical tasks <strong>and</strong> techniques are presented<br />

to equip the BA with the skills <strong>and</strong> knowledge required to practice all the Knowledge Areas of the BA‐<br />

BOK, from identifying potential future projects to validating implemented solutions.<br />

Techniques for Eliciting Requirements<br />

This course highlights the best practices <strong>and</strong> techniques in the industry to elicit requirements from<br />

stakeholders. Through h<strong>and</strong>s-on practice <strong>and</strong> simulation exercises, students will become familiar with the<br />

processes directly through experience.<br />

Identifying <strong>and</strong> Managing Stakeholders for Success<br />

This course highlights the importance of correctly identifying <strong>and</strong> managing stakeholders expectations <strong>and</strong><br />

needs during the course of a project from concept to closure. Students learn that the project's success or<br />

failure depends on the satisfaction of stakeholder requirements. Students will explore human behavior<br />

theories to better underst<strong>and</strong> motivation <strong>and</strong> how best to manage the people of our projects.<br />

WRITE EFFECTIVE USE CASES<br />

This course examines use case analysis in depth, addressing why, how, when, <strong>and</strong> by whom use cases are<br />

used during the project life cycle. Practical tasks <strong>and</strong> techniques are presented to equip the BA with skills <strong>and</strong><br />

knowledge required to develop an initial use case diagram, determine conceptual business objects, develop<br />

detailed use case descriptions with alternate <strong>and</strong> exception flows, model extend <strong>and</strong> include relationships,<br />

add supplemental information including priorities, non‐behavioral requirements, <strong>and</strong> business rules, <strong>and</strong> organize<br />

the wealth of requirements‐related information captured by the complete set of use cases.<br />
