In August 2017 BCF celebrated its 7th Anniversary – more on this later, but you can
see from the picture above it was well attended by members and friends alike. There
were several “firsts” during the year: the visit by the Next Step mission team from
Pete and Pat Kingham's church in the UK; the introduction of a social secretary to
organise Fellowship events; the introduction of the prayer chain; and the election of
two new deacons – their first time in such a role.
Having been banished to the depths of the Centre Social during its refurbishment in
September, we are now back upstairs in our brighter and lighter new home.
On the family front our extended family grew with the addition of more
grandchildren: Lizzie Williams - Orla; Laura and David Miskimin – Oliver; Jill and
Dave Cannon – Suzanna; Lorraine and Eric Henshaw - Orla.
Called Home
Sadly, we have lost some of our friends who have made their final
journey and are with God – Peter Cox and Frank Hakim.
Peter was taken from us suddenly on 12 March 2017 after a short
illness whilst attending a healing conference in Helsinki with his wife,
Tricia. Peter was a larger-than-life person and is missed by many people across
Benitachell and Javea on whose lives Peter had a great impact.
Frank Hakim – husband of Margaret, passed away on 18 April. A retired surgeon,
Frank was a frequent visitor with his wife Margaret, daughters and granddaughters.
He had been poorly for some time, and is sadly missed by his family and the
fellowship.
Memorable Visits
Stories from Kenya
Phillip and Valerie Laver visited during June to preach for us. On his first week
Philip had to contend with a local fiesta going on outside our window and a grumpy
dog in the garden below who wanted to join in the singing! Undaunted, Phillip gave a
great sermon centred around the Holy Spirit.
Following our summer General Meeting, they delivered a wonderful slide show and
talk about their activities during their missionary work in Africa.
