The purpose of the mini-grant program is to foster appreciation of the natural beautification of our Hampton public areas, including roadside, parks, and public walkways, to the benefit the public’s enjoyment. Hampton Garden Club has presented mini-grants to selected Hampton area gardeners for the past three years. Public areas both large and small have benefitted from this program. The PJ Drive’s goal is to collect 15,000 pairs of new pajamas for children and teens in need. It’s hard to imagine that so many kids and teens don’t know the comforting feeling of putting on PJs before settling down to sleep, but you can be part of an effort to change that! The Boston Bruins PJ Drive runs from February 1 through March 15, 2018 and will accept new pajamas for babies, children and teens. Drop them off at the Rowley Public Library at 141 Main Street. For more information, call the library at 978-948-2850. ------------------------------------------------------------ ROWLEY - Works of contemporary landscape artist Annalee Johnson at Rowley Public Library - A resident of Newburyport for more than fifty years, Annalee Johnson’s eyes are attuned to the beauty of sea, salt marsh, and woodlands across the seasons and from those images, she paints what she sees in her head. “There is not a lot of right and wrong in what I paint,” she says, relying on intuition and soul to pull and resonate. It is a form of play, a puzzle to be solved, the joyful challenge of discovering the difference between what works and does not. “I stop if it isn’t fun.” Annalee Johnson is a member of Newburyport Art Association, and an artist member of the Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Art Association. She has shown her work in numerous juried shows earning several honorable mentions and awards for innovation. A sample of her work will be on display through February at the Rowley Public Library, 141 Main Street in Rowley. Jenny Patterson has collected tin-plated toys for over 20 years. As an affordable alternative to wood toys, thin sheets of steel plated with tin started being manufactured in the mid-19th century. The whirl and pop of a wind-up tin toy delights her every time she hears it. Whether reproductions from the past or rare originals, she collects them all. With over 300 pieces in her collection, she’s delighted to share with us this intricate mechanism in a delightful, if not sometimes wacky, package. ------------------------------------------------------------ ROWLEY - Friends of the Rowley Senior Center are now accepting applications for space at this years’ 10th Annual Yard, Craft & Bake Sale on May 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rowley Town Hall Annex, newly paved outdoor area. You can also view the newsletter online at: www.townofrowley.net ------------------------------------------------------------ ROWLEY - Rowley Library Collecting for Rowley Food Pantry - Donate non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies and paper goods, or personal hygiene products for the Rowley Food Pantry in the basket in the Library lobby. The Rowley Food Pantry is open on Tuesday mornings from 10 am to noon and Thursday evenings from 6 - 7:30 in the parsonage of the Baptist Church at 153 Main St. All Rowley residents are welcome. ------------------------------------------------------------ SALISBURY - Senior Poperty Tax Work Off & Veteran Work Off Program: Eligible elders and veterans may have their real estate taxes reduced by $500.00 after completing 62.5 hours of service to the community through a municipal department. The Senior Citizen Tax Work Off Program is open to senior citizens (60 years of age and older) and Veterans who own property in and pay real estate taxes to the town of Salisbury. The program participant’s name must appear on the property deed. Participants must complete 62.5 hours of service in the program year, which runs from January 1 to October 31. A $500.00 property tax credit minus the required withholdings will be applied to the participant’s real estate tax bill in the following fiscal year. Participating taxpayers volunteer their services to the town in exchange for a reduction in their tax bills. Individuals will be chosen based on the best match between the applicants’ qualifications and the skill requirements of each job. Applicants will be interviewed by the department supervisor of the position for which they have been placed. Individuals previously chosen for the program may make re-application in subsequent years. No applicant is guaranteed a position. Income guidelines or the lottery system may be used if there are more applicants than available positions.
