Master Paints Blacks 6-5 in
a thrilling match to qualify
for the main final of the
Master Paints Polo Cup
2018 here at the Lahore Polo
Club (LPC) ground.
It was a very close-contested
encounter which was
ended 5-5 when the final
whistle of the match was
blown. The match then
entered the sudden death
chukker, where Hamza
Mawaz Khan came from
behind to pump in the
match-winning goal for
Master Paints/Rizvi’s and
also helped them book berth
in the main final.
Juaz Cruz Losada was
the real hero of the match as
he fired fabulous four goals
while Mumtaz Abbas and
Hamza Mawaz Khan (one
goal each) completed the
tally for the victors. From
the losing side, Hissam Ali
Hyder and Saqib Khan
Khakwani equally played
outstanding polo and banged
in a brace each while Agha
Musa struck one but their
efforts went in vain in the
end, when they lost the crucial
match by a margin of
one goal.
Both the teams kept on
struggling to score a goal in
the first chukker but their
efforts couldn’t bear fruit and
the first chukker remained
goalless. In the second
chukker, Saqib Khakwani
scored the opening goal off a
spot penalty to give Master
Paints Black 1-0 lead which
was soon equalized by Losada
who also converted spot
penalty successfully and then
in the dying moments of the
chukker, he converted another
spot penalty to give Master
Paints/Rizvi’s 2-1 edge.
The third chukker was
fully dominated by Master
An announcement from
on February 22.
“The Internationally
best songs,” said the statement
from PCB on Saturday.
American singer Jason
Derulo is also among the
artists lined up for the glittering
opening ceremony of PSL
which will be followed by the
opening match between
Peshawar Zalmi and Multan
Sultans. Pakistani pop icons
Ali Zafar, the voice behind
PSL anthems for all the three
seasons, and Shahzad Roy will
also be among the performers
of the opening ceremony.
Following his police
career, Dickason established
companies which
provided close protection to
diplomats, politicians, international
sporting teams and
high-net-worth individuals
as a security consultant
Ricky Ponting
eyes Australia
T20 job
SYDNEY: As he prepares
to be feted for an
outstanding playing
career, Ricky Ponting has
his eyes firmly on a future
role as Australia's
Twenty20 coach, a part of
the move towards separate
coaches for the
game's three formats that
grows inevitable with
each passing series.
While he has assisted
the current all-format
coach Darren Lehmann
in the current triangular
series, Ponting is eager
to be head coach in the
shortest form, having
used much of his past
five years since retirement
immersing himself
in T20, whether as coach
of Mumbai Indians or
commentating on the
Big Bash League. He is
set to mentor Delhi
Daredevils in this year's
IPL, and it is Australia's
turn to host the World
T20 in 2020 - the only
ICC tournament the
country has never won.
Discussions between
Ponting and Cricket
Australia's team performance
manager Pat Howard
are ongoing as to how to
make the role work after
Lehmann's contract
expires following the
2019 World Cup and
Ashes double in England,
with the schedule and the
national teams competing
for priorities among the
issues still being thrashed
out. Ponting pointed to
the way that Australia
won a home Ashes series
they had prepared rigorously
for then fell away
badly in the ODI series
that followed - against a
largely recast England
ODI team - as a sign of
things to come.
