6 Sunday, February 11, 2018 Biz IMF chief urges Arab states to cut spending KARACHI: DUBAI: IMF chief Christine Lagarde on Saturday urged Arab countries to slash public wages and subsidies in order to rein in spending, achieve sustainable growth and create jobs. Speaking at the one-day Arab Fiscal Forum in Dubai, Lagarde welcomed “promising” reforms adopted by some Arab countries, but insisted much more was needed to overcome daunting economic and social problems. Low oil prices are weighing on the finances of Arab oil exporters, while importers are battling with rising debt, unemployment, conflicts, terrorism and refugee inflows, the International Monetary Fund’s managing director said. Almost all Arab countries have posted budget deficits over the past few years and Arab economies grew at just 1.9 percent last year, half the global rate, according to the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), which co-organised the event with the IMF. Yet Arab public spending ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) in collaboration with its members has donated an amount of Rs.0.5 million for the Islamabad Lawyers Club. He also said before this event 4 times PDCA National Championship held in different cities and this is the 1st time the 2nd Phase of the event will be held in twins cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad from the 13 February to 16 February. The 2nd Semi Final will be played on 16th February at in the tournament has been given free kit and football shoes. Conveyance allowance has also been given to each team. “In line with our long standing commitment to giving back to the people of Pakistan, we continue to provide opportunities for the underprivileged youth of Karachi through sports. This initiative will help keep them away from negative activities. And channel their energy in the right direction,” Chairman World Group Mehmood Trunkwala said. Leisure Leagues has been brought to Pakistan by Trunkwala family. The twenty teams of a district have been divided into two groups Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. Each team in a group will play 18 matches, two matches against every other team in the Group. A total of 900 matches will be played in the first double-league stage. Top teams from Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ will play District final and a District Champion will emerge. Subsequently, the champions from the five districts will play in a ‘Champions League’, playing one match against each other. The top team from the league will become ‘Leisure Leagues Karachi Champions’.
