Mokena business set to participate
in Chefs’ Auction benefit

For the fourth consecutive
year, the long-running
Chefs’ Auction fundraiser
will support the mission of
the Bridge Teen Center in
Orland Park.
One of this year’s featured
restaurants is Doc’s
Smokehouse in Mokena.
This will be the first-ever
appearance by Doc’s at this
fundraiser, and the first time
a traditional barbeque restaurant
has ever participated.
In addition to sampling
some of their creations to
an expected more than 300
event attendees, the restaurant
will auction off a oneof-a-kind
dining experience
during the live auction.

and supplies are not always
the people some might expect,
and she said it just goes
to show that you can never
be sure what someone is going
through.
The pantry serves 325
families per month, which
each of those families eligible
to come in once a week
for staples like meat, milk,
fresh produce, refrigerated
items and bakery items, as
well as once a month to shop
for non-perishable foods.
Underwood said the food
drive at KidsWork was a
great learning opportunity
for many of the children
and an opportunity to learn
about having empathy for
others who don’t have as
much as others might have.
Many of the parents got on
board with the message as
engaged in this community
fundraiser, and we couldn’t
be more excited about Doc’s
being involved,” said Rob
Steinmetz, founder and director
of marketing for The
Bridge Teen Center. “We’re
big barbeque fans, and we
are certain this will be a
welcome addition for our
guests.”
This year’s Chefs’ Auction
event is scheduled to be
held March 8 at a brand new
location: Silver Lake Country
Club. Featured restaurants
include “veteran” participants,
such as Cooper’s
Hawk, Wooden Paddle and
Rocco Vino’s, as well as
newcomers, such as Doc’s
Smokehouse, Houlihan’s
and Smallcakes.

of Orland Park’s recentlypassed
budget, the popular

the Village of Orland
Park has helped raise over
$120,000 for The Bridge
Teen Center through this
highly-anticipated event,”
Steinmetz said. “We are
grateful for the opportunity
to carry on this tradition in
the community, to continue
raising much-needed support
for The Bridge’s free
programs, and to take this
event to new heights.”
Enhanced entertainment is
also planned for this year’s
event, including a live performance
from Chicago-based
singer/songwriter Mark
Rose. Rose has sold more
