Luciana Macaluso. Architect, PhD in architectural design. She works at the Department <strong>of</strong> Architecture<br />

<strong>of</strong> the University <strong>of</strong> Palermo and has been lecturer at the University <strong>of</strong> Palermo and at<br />

the University <strong>of</strong> Parma. She has participated in the PRIN research project “From the Urbanized<br />

Countryside to the Extending Town”, from 2011–13. She has been awarded with a DAAD Grant for<br />

Young Researchers in 2014–15 as visiting researcher at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Her publications<br />

include: The Main Church <strong>of</strong> Gibellina (Roma, 2013) and Rural-Urban Intersections (Parma,<br />

2016).<br />

Martina Massari. Architect, master’s degree from the University <strong>of</strong> Ferrara, with a thesis on the<br />

urban and territorial regeneration <strong>of</strong> the island <strong>of</strong> Lampedusa; second level pr<strong>of</strong>essional master’s<br />

degree in management <strong>of</strong> small historic centres from La Sapienza University <strong>of</strong> Rome. She is a PhD<br />

candidate in architecture and design cultures at the University <strong>of</strong> Bologna, with a doctoral scholarship<br />

in the 32nd cycle. Her work is focused on social innovation practices and their relationship<br />

with urban policies.<br />

Jessica Smeralda Oliva. Architect, PhD candidate in urban, regional and landscape planning at<br />

the Department <strong>of</strong> Architecture <strong>of</strong> the University <strong>of</strong> Palermo. Visiting PhD student at IHS Rotterdam<br />

in 2016. She contributed to conferences and workshops at national and international level. Her<br />

research interests are focused on urban resilience and regeneration, landscape, and ecological<br />

urbanism.<br />

Jesús Pereira Cubilla. Architect, PhD candidate at the Department <strong>of</strong> Urbanism and Territorial<br />

Planning <strong>of</strong> UPC Polytechnic University <strong>of</strong> Catalonia. Assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the Faculty <strong>of</strong> Architecture,<br />

Design, and Art <strong>of</strong> the National University <strong>of</strong> Asunción, since 2012. Member <strong>of</strong> the Paraguayan<br />

UN-Habitat III Committee, in 2015–16. Partner in the Panoplia Urban and Architecture Design<br />

Research Studio in Asunción, since 2012.<br />

Philip Norman Peterson. Architect, Born in Fergus Falls, USA, Philip Norman Peterson completed<br />

his architecture studies at the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois in Chicago in 1989. After working for John<br />

Melvin and Partners in London and Marina Stankovic in Berlin, he joined the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Max Dudler<br />

Zürich/Berlin in 1992. In 2006 he started working at Studio Daniel Libeskind as Deputy Project<br />

Supervisor and was responsible for Westside Leisure- and Shopping Centre at Bern Brünnen.<br />

Since 2009 he has been working for Holzer Kobler Architekturen as project supervisor for projects<br />

such as the paläon research and experience centre in Schöningen. As managing director <strong>of</strong> Holzer<br />

Kobler Architekturen Berlin GmbH since 2011, he has been responsible for projects such as the<br />

UNESCO World Natural Heritage Wadden Sea Visitor Centre in Cuxhaven, the modular housing<br />

project EBA51 in Berlin and for the conversion, extension, and scenography at the Castle Gottorf.<br />
