Luciana Macaluso. Architect, PhD in architectural design. She works at the Department of Architecture
of the University of Palermo and has been lecturer at the University of Palermo and at
the University of Parma. She has participated in the PRIN research project “From the Urbanized
Countryside to the Extending Town”, from 2011–13. She has been awarded with a DAAD Grant for
Young Researchers in 2014–15 as visiting researcher at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Her publications
include: The Main Church of Gibellina (Roma, 2013) and Rural-Urban Intersections (Parma,
2016).
Martina Massari. Architect, master’s degree from the University of Ferrara, with a thesis on the
urban and territorial regeneration of the island of Lampedusa; second level professional master’s
degree in management of small historic centres from La Sapienza University of Rome. She is a PhD
candidate in architecture and design cultures at the University of Bologna, with a doctoral scholarship
in the 32nd cycle. Her work is focused on social innovation practices and their relationship
with urban policies.
Jessica Smeralda Oliva. Architect, PhD candidate in urban, regional and landscape planning at
the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo. Visiting PhD student at IHS Rotterdam
in 2016. She contributed to conferences and workshops at national and international level. Her
research interests are focused on urban resilience and regeneration, landscape, and ecological
urbanism.
Jesús Pereira Cubilla. Architect, PhD candidate at the Department of Urbanism and Territorial
Planning of UPC Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture,
Design, and Art of the National University of Asunción, since 2012. Member of the Paraguayan
UN-Habitat III Committee, in 2015–16. Partner in the Panoplia Urban and Architecture Design
Research Studio in Asunción, since 2012.
Philip Norman Peterson. Architect, Born in Fergus Falls, USA, Philip Norman Peterson completed
his architecture studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1989. After working for John
Melvin and Partners in London and Marina Stankovic in Berlin, he joined the office of Max Dudler
Zürich/Berlin in 1992. In 2006 he started working at Studio Daniel Libeskind as Deputy Project
Supervisor and was responsible for Westside Leisure- and Shopping Centre at Bern Brünnen.
Since 2009 he has been working for Holzer Kobler Architekturen as project supervisor for projects
such as the paläon research and experience centre in Schöningen. As managing director of Holzer
Kobler Architekturen Berlin GmbH since 2011, he has been responsible for projects such as the
UNESCO World Natural Heritage Wadden Sea Visitor Centre in Cuxhaven, the modular housing
project EBA51 in Berlin and for the conversion, extension, and scenography at the Castle Gottorf.
