Over-the-phone scam targets resident

butter as a treat and loves to be outside.
A worker in the 300
block of Pfingsten Road
reported they received a
telephone call while at
work stating that a family
member had been involved
in an accident with
the caller on 2:45 p.m. on
Feb. 12.
The caller informed the
complainant that they had
taken the complainant’s
family member to an unknown
location to be held.
The complainant stated
that the caller requested
that wire transfer funds be
sent to Puerto Rico for the
family member’s release.
The complainant learned
that this was a scam and
that no accident had occurred.
In other police news:
Feb. 12
• Jose G. Tinajero, 40,
of Carpentersville, was
charged with unlawful use
of electronic communication
device, driving with
a revoked license and no
proof of insurance at 2:37
p.m. in the 800 block of
Willow. Officers on routine
patrol observed a vehicle
commit a traffic violation.
Officers then stopped the
vehicle and learned that
the driver was driving with
a revoked driver’s license.
He was processed and released
after posting bond.
Feb. 9
• Dillon J. Burke, 21, of
Glenview, was charged
with improper lane usage,
too fast for conditions,
reckless driving, no insurance
and driving while
under the influence BAC
more than .08 at 10:04
a.m. in the intersection of
Shermer and Waukegan
roads. Officers responded
to the location regarding
a traffic crash. When officers
made contact with
the driver, they determined
they were driving
while under the influence.
He was processed and released
after posting bond.

The Police Department
welcomed new officer
Patty Kappos, who was
sworn in on Friday, Feb.
16. Officer Kappos comes
to Northbrook after working
as a full-time Police
Officer at the Thornton Illinois
Police Department
for three years.
Village staff anticipate
Shermer Road bridge will
close Feb. 26

deck of the Shermer Road
bridge (located in the
Central Business District)
local utility companies
began relocating their infrastructure
this week.
Staff anticipates the
bridge will be closed to
traffic beginning Monday,
Feb. 26 and continuing
until project completion in
mid-June.
Notices have been distributed
to all downtown
businesses and additional
notices will be mailed to
surrounding residences.
Additionally, staff installed
changeable message
boards on Shermer
Road to notify residents of
important information.

received throughout the

“I’m so proud of the
support that she got from
her brother and sister,”
he said. “All her siblings
wanted was for her to do
good and for her to win.
That made us feel really
good as a family.”
Sylvia Gochis, Paige’s
mother and a native of St.
Louis, revered the support
her daughter received from
the community.
“We had friends in
Northbrook that helped us
so much,” she said. “It was
awesome how everyone really
got behind us and really
helped us out. I think
they were all really proud
of Paige too. Everyone is
really excited to see the
show when it comes out.”
