Hello FIGS!
It’s been a while and we have soooo much to catch-up on.
Firstly, we are delighted to be able to offer a truly spectacular FIG Annual
Conference 14-16 October 2018 (Depart from 17 Oct). Because HKG is a
regular ‘watering hole’ for many of our FIGS, we have tried to avoid all
the regular ‘touristy’ destinations and have offered experiences that
most visitors would overlook… and all at amazing value!

‘huge’ Early-Bird discount. For the first time, we
have reduced our rates for those members who
like to bring two or more colleagues.
Early Bird discount applies only to the delegate
rate. Subsequent attendees and Spouse Package
are already fully discounted.

New Products.– Glopay

As you will know, FIG Admin firmly believes that the future
of transactional banking will look ‘exactly’ like this product
from Glopay. FIG Admin has already registered for a Glopay
account - approval process took less than 5mins.
We are hoping to have a speaker from ‘Glopay’ at our conference
as they are conveniently based in Kowloon!!!

Movers & Shakers
Over the past few months we have plenty of FIG
membership activity to report...
Our long-standing FIG’s will be aware that we have ‘pruned’ our FIG
family this year to ensure that we have the strongest possible global
network. This process means that we are seeking a few exceptional

Transocean to his Partner - Klaus Kristensen and will
be devoting more time to his ‘other’ business which
designs & builds ‘bespoke’ racing & mountain bikes.
We all wish Jan and Anni our best wishes and
thanks for your tremendous support over the years.
Anders Bay-Andersen, who most of you have met,

At our last FIG Conference, our
CEO announced that he will be
working towards ‘semiretirement’.
There is no question
of FIG ‘winding down’ - quite the
reverse… We have explored various
options to allow more ‘free
time’ including a ‘full-time’ management
option. We found that
none of these options would be
in the best interests of our FIG
Partners… we then realised the
answer was under our noses all
the time! We are a ‘virtual’ business
and already operate with
various ‘virtual’ contractors such
as IT and accountancy. We have
now started the process of moving
more functionality to the virtual
world and, YES, it’s working
and already we are starting to
feel the benefits. Our aim is to
establish KPI’s such as ‘constant
improvement’ / increased global
reach / new project delivery etc.

At Home with The Humphrey’s
As most of you will know, we have a ‘family’ involvement in running our FIG Freight Network…
Thought you may be interested in seeing what we’ve been up to (aside from building
exciting new products for our ‘second family’)…
The Humphrey family live just a few miles from the historic
port of Portsmouth on the south coast of the UK. If you
ever find yourself in the area, please come and say hello...
Dawn had a new (very old) car for Christmas!!!
It’s a classic 1991 FIGARO! (of course) - Only
20,000 made for the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show
and a handful imported to the UK. Dawn’s new
‘pride & joy’ (money pit)!!!

In 1989, The Figaro was introduced
at the Tokyo Motor Show that’s held
every other year at the largest convention
and exhibition centre in Japan,
the Tokyo Big Sight. Naoki Sakai
and Shoji Takahashi’s “Back to the
Future” design really soaked up
many and all possibilities and made
something that one wouldn’t know
which generation it belonged in.

A couple of years ago,
Chris & Dawn celebrated
their ‘Pearl’ wedding
anniversary
(30yrs). To celebrate
the occasion, Chris
produced this reproduction
of Vermeer’s
painting ‘Girl with a
Pearl Earing’. Dawn is
slightly embarrassed
by this ‘work of art’
and we have yet to
find a suitable hanging
space - suggestions?
Front Hallway… Yes, that
radiator is supposed to be
fixed to the wall...
Tom (pictured with proud Dad, Chris), graduated
from Portsmouth University with a degree
in business and is busy building a career in
‘Digital Marketing’. Already qualified as a Chef
and Musician, Tom will never have to ‘sing for
his supper’…
Recently Tom has been following the ‘Joe
Wicks’ programme for healthy living - some say
his Dad should maybe take a few lessons!!!
Emily is now a fully-qualified Paramedic working for South
Coast Ambulance Service. If you’re ever in this area and
having a heart attack… You can reach her on 999!!!
Some of you may know
that one of Chris’ hobbies
is to renovate houses…
We will feature one picture
in each publication of
the renovation of our
100year old house that is
really annoying Dawn...
(well… until Dawn finds
out we are showing the
world her home).
Well… at least the house is
dry and will be warmer
once those radiators are
fitted!
Who says you can’t
mix business with
pleasure!?
Chris has a regular lunch
appointment each Friday
with his oldest son, Ben.
Ben is ‘partially sighted’ but
still has his own business,
teaching guitar - he qualified
‘top of his class’ at college
and is a gifted guitarist.
Each week the ‘dynamic
duo ‘ try to find a different
pub for lunch and for the
past two years, Ben has
been writing a blog giving
feedback on their dining
experiences.
The ‘blog’ is about to develop
into a full-blown desktop
and mobile application,
where users can offer their
own feedback on pubs
countrywide. With a builtin
‘geo-locator’ users are
automatically offered dining
options with ‘special
offers’ and promotions in
their vicinity. Pubs and restaurants
have their own
login and can add ‘coupons’
and pictures/video/menus
to their listing.
Maybe you guys would be
interested in a country
franchise? Food for
thought!
