The Art Station 

The Art Station is an art school for adults 

eighteen and older located in Ponchatoula, 

Louisiana, since 2007. The Art Station 

specializes in classes in Painting and 

Drawing. Its goal of Lifelong Learning in 

the Arts has kept The Art Station thriving 

as over 900 students have registered for 

3500 classes there since the doors opened 

in 2007 thanks to the passion of Director 

Kim Zabbia and the loyal community.

Big Red Barn 

The Big Red Barn is housed 

in an adorable cottage in 

downtown Ponchatoula. It’s 

not red, it’s not big, and it’s 

not a barn- but it is a lot of 

fun! Open the front door, and 

enter our cheerful play room, 

filled with toys. The play 

room is used for songs, stories, 

rug time, and free play. 

Through a pair of French doors is our art room. The room is 

filled with light and color and is perfect for the myriad of creative 

art activities that The Big Red Barn has to offer. We also 

have another play area, Lily’s Pad, which is used for select 

weekend activities and birthday parties.

Camp Moore 

Confederate Museum 

Camp Moore was the largest Confederate training camp in 

Louisiana and the only one in the United States still open to the 

public. Opened in May 1861 as a site to organize, train and disperse 

soldiers from Louisiana to all points of the Confederacy.

Chappapeela Sports Park 

The Hammond Area Recreation District No. 1 was created 

by ordinance of the Tangipahoa Parish Council in the mid 

1990’s that includes most of the corporate limits of the 

City of Hammond and the Seventh Ward, bordered on the 

west by the Tangipahoa/ Livingston Parish Boundary, bordered 

on the east by Tangipahoa River, and shares a border 

on the south with Ponchatoula Area Recreation District.

Collinswood School Museum 

The Collinswood School Museum actually had it’s beginning 

around 1876 when it was constructed specifically 

as a one room school 

house. Mr. Collins constructed 

the school house 

on his estate, approximately 

one mile west of Ponchatoula, 

to assure an education 

for his son. He then 

hired and boarded a teacher 

and offered educational 

training for other children 

in the area. The school operated 

in that fashion until 

around 1908. Grades 1 

through 6 were taught in 

the single room.

Columbia Theatre 

The Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts, which is 

located at 220 E. Thomas St. Hammond, LA, 70401, is 

owned and operated by Southeastern Louisiana University. 

It is a historic theatre (circa 1928) that was completely 

renovated and reopened its doors in 2002. The theatre presents 

a mix of classical and contemporary concerts, dance, 

and theatrical events year-round, including its October 

festival, Fanfare, and provides the area with a first class 

setting for entertainment. The renovated theatre boasts a 

main 830-seat performance hall, a conference area, and 

administrative offices.

The arena is a state of the art multi-purpose facility with

The Hammond Regional Arts Center (HRAC) supports, promotes,

Hammond Skate Park 

This is my favorite skatepark in Louisiana. Everything from the 

bowl to the street course, it flows really well and is 

just a really fun park. It was also the first park to be 

built in Louisiana in the modern wave of concrete 

skateparks. BMX technically isn’t allowed 

but if you show up without pegs 

and just hang out 

without your bike for a little 

while, you may 

be able to get a session in.

Kentwood Musesum 

The Kentwood Museum contains a military exhibit which includes 

approximately 500 pictures of veterans from the Kentwood 

area and maps of the world showing where local veterans 

served in WWII. The Kentwood museum also displays an exhibit 

of memorbilia from Kentwood’s own Britney Spears, international 

singing star and actress.

Liuzza Land 

In the spring of 2011, the farm branched 

out and opened “Liuzza Land,” an educational 

and entertaining experience for 

adults and children of all ages. Liuzza 

Land offers fall and spring field trips to 

students, teachers and parents in south
