New students are required to take the Accuplacer, meet with an advisor, and attend a new student orientation session prior to registering for classes. Transfer students should bring unofficial transcripts to their advisor appointment in lieu of taking the Accuplacer. Continuing students who have completed fewer than 24 credit hours are required to meet with their advisor prior to registering for the next semester. All other students are encouraged to meet with an advisor each semester. Advisors are available to: • Assist you in planning your degree path • Provide information about course content • Assist you in determining the sequence of your coursework • Assist you in defining and meeting your goals • Answer your questions as you navigate your way around college Bookstore The College Bookstore, located in room 1940, near the West Classroom Complex on the main Farmington campus, offers everything you will need for classes — new and used textbooks, class supplies, electronic equipment, San Juan College spirit wear and souvenirs and supplies for special courses, such as drafting, art, engineering, and others. Bring your class schedule when you visit the Bookstore so we can help you locate the right textbook or call (505) 566-3260. Information on required and recommended textbooks and supplemental material for courses can be found on the Internet course schedule at sanjuancollege. edu or at the bookstore website: https://bookstore. sanjuancollege.edu. You will be able to find both the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) or author, title, publisher and copyright date, as well as retail price. Return policy If you dropped a class and want to return your books for a refund, you must have the receipt. Read the Bookstore Textbook Refund Policy attached to your purchase for the terms and conditions. A receipt is required for all returns and exchanges. Please keep your receipt, it is worth money! Do not write in your books until you know that you will be going to a class. If you have written in the book, it is no longer new and cannot be returned for a refund. Used books The Bookstore buys back books at the end of each semester in order to hold down book costs. The date of the semester book buy back is listed on the bookstore policy attached to the receipt of your purchase. You don’t need a receipt if you are selling at the end of the semester. You do need a receipt to get a refund during the semester. If you won’t be here for the end-of-semester buy back, the Bookstore runs a year-round book buy back.
