Prayer Meeting
Prayer Meeting will be held this Wednesday evening, March 7, at 7:00 pm. Throughout
the month of March, we will have a special Prayer Meeting Series on “The Four
F’s of Practical Living: Future, Faith, Finances, and Family.” Our Pastoral Staff,
along with special guest presenters, Dr. John Matthews, Stewardship Director for the
North American Division (NAD), and Rick and Denise Mathis, Certified Marriage
Mentors and Registered Premarital Counseling Source Providers, will share throughout
the month. All are encouraged to attend.
Stewardship Corner
Stewardship of possessions is the effect of God’s saving grace upon one’s self, property,
and attitude. “When God gets a man a car, He gets a car to be used in His service”
(Milo Kauffman, The Challenge of Christian Stewardship, Herald Press, 1955, 3
-5). Should heaven decide to build a monument of your giving today, what would it
say? Heaven rejoices more in the attitude of our giving than in the quantity. As we
give our Tithe and Combined Budget Offering today, may each of us prayerfully assess
the attitude of our giving.
Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA) Building Project
Please be mindful of our financial commitment to the OAA Building Project. Given
our church obligation of $3,000,000.00, the OUC makes a monthly payment to satisfy
this commitment. Let us all support this collective responsibility through our systematic
financial support, which is in addition to our normal Tithe and Combined Budget
Offering. All donations, large or small, are sincerely appreciated. Kindly mark on
your offering envelope, “OAA Building Fund.”
“Restoration 40” - Family Life Center
Our Family Life Center is completed! We still, however, need your financial support
to this building project. Each member is kindly asked to reach a minimum goal of
$1,000.00 for this project (in addition to your normal Tithe and Combined Budget
Offering). If you have reached your $1,000.00 goal, please feel free to give additional
funds. Donations can be made via your offering envelope and labeled, “Restoration
40.” All donations are appreciated. Thank you very much for your support.
Divorce Care and Grief Share Support Groups
Our OUC Divorce Care and Grief Share Support Groups, under the auspices of our
Family Life Department, have resumed meeting for their respective Spring sessions,
and take place each Sabbath afternoon from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the Moseley Complex.
Welcome
On behalf of the Pastoral Staff, Officers, and Members of the Oakwood University Church
(OUC), we would like to extend a special welcome today to all of our visiting friends. We
hope you enjoy your worship experience with us, and please come again.
Family Life Center Ministry Offerings and Services
We’re excited about the ministry offerings and services our Family Life Center will
provide to our church members and community residents alike. Some of these services
and offerings will include: OUC Vegetarian Food Market, Health Clinic with Licensed
Physicians, Barber Shop, Basketball and Volleyball Leagues, Zumba Exercise Classes,
Community Services including Heaven’s Storehouse Free Food Distribution and Tabitha’s
Corner Free Clothing Distribution, and multiple support groups including Divorce Care,
Grief Share, Couples Ministry, and Substance Abuse Care. Please note that our Barber
Shop is now fully operational, and services are rendered Monday through Thursday from
8:15 am to 6:00 pm, and on Fridays from 8:15 am to one hour before sunset. Please be
sure to spread the word and tell others about our ministry and service offerings at our
Family Life Center. Also, don’t forget that we need you to patronize and support as well.

Family Life Ministries
Our OUC Family Life Ministries’ Department will present its fifth “Living in Love
Seminar,” entitled, “Marrying with Stepchildren,” on March 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in
our new OUC Family Life Center. The presenters will be Todd and Tammy Gangl of

Oakwood Adventist Academy and Oakwood University Alumni Luncheon
The Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA) and Oakwood University (OU) Alumni
Associations are one again sponsoring a joint fundraising luncheon on Oakwood
University’s Alumni Weekend Sabbath, March 31, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the OAA
Multi-Education Complex. The luncheon meal will be catered by Mangoes Caribbean
Restaurant. Make plans now to eat and fellowship with fellow classmates, alumni, and
friends of both OAA and OU. Tickets are available online only and may be purchased at
www.oakwoodadventistacademy.org.
Health Ministries
Medical Missionary Training will begin tomorrow, March 4, at 9:00 am. The cost for this
Thirteen Session Program is $250.00 per person. Topics will include nutrition, massage
therapy, foods that heal, vegetarian cooking, natural remedies, and much more. For more

The “Why Weigh? Weight Management Program” will meet next Sunday, March 11, at
10:00 am in the OUC Multi-purpose Rooms. Registration will begin at 9:30 am for new
attendees.
Would you like to decrease your risk of developing cancer? Please join us for Sabbath
School Program on Sabbath, March 17, at 9:15 am. Our OUC Health Ministries
Department will present a health seminar about the third most common cancer diagnosed
in both men and women in the United States. You will also be provided with intervention
strategies to decrease your risk factors! You will not want to miss this special program.
Health Nugget: Protect your kidneys by exercising regularly. Regular exercise will keep
your bones, muscles, blood vessels, heart, and kidneys healthy. Getting active for at least
30 minutes per day can also help control blood pressure and lower blood sugar, which is

Free Tax Preparation Service - Stewardship Department
Our OUC Stewardship Department is once again offering free tax preparation services for
simple tax returns. To accommodate more individuals, we are offering a convenient “drop
-off” service. Procedures, along with a checklist, may be picked up in the church office.
After the submission of all requested documents (W-2’s, charitable receipts, 2017 income
tax returns, etc.), tax forms will be completed within 10 days. ~ Dr. Everett Roper
Prayer Ministries
Please join our “Praying for Our Children” initiative each Wednesday evening from 6:00 to
7:00 pm in the Parents’ Room.
