Create original video games using Scratch! Scratch is a programming language developed by MIT and<br />
specifically designed to make programming fun and easy. Students will start with the Hour of Code and<br />
then explore how to create games with Scratch. By the end of the class, students will have successfully<br />
designed original video games that they will be able to share with their friends and family!<br />
STOP MOTION ANIMATION WITH LEGOS<br />

Grade Level: 1-2<br />
Learn how movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wallace and Gromit, and more were made. Stop<br />
motion animations are created by taking many individual pictures and playing them back at a certain speed<br />
in order to create movement. Students will explore stop motion animation by creating stories with Legos.<br />
Participants can expect to finish this class having completed several animations.<br />
DISCOVER CAMP ROCKET BUILDING<br />

You may or may not have built rockets before, but we'll show you how we do it in a short workshop.<br />
Through instructional modeling, we'll first demonstrate how model rockets are constructed with our own<br />
special strategies. Every child will leave with a rocket that is ready to launch.<br />
LIFE IN A VACUUM<br />
The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum<br />
Grade Level: 2-5<br />
Learn how important the earth’s atmosphere is and discover why astronauts need to wear those big, heavy<br />
space suits. Using a bell jar and a vacuum pump, Intrepid educators will mimic the vacuum of space.<br />
Students will make predictions and then discover what happens to various objects when they are exposed<br />
to a vacuum. Finally, they will apply what they have learned to determine how the human body would react<br />
to the vacuum of space.<br />

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? Learn the science behind creating a hit song on the radio.<br />
We will explore various sounds and learn how to make a hit song of your very own!<br />
PUFF MOBILE<br />

During this workshop, led by two women from IBM, students will build a wind-puff-powered car using only<br />
the materials provided. The goal will be to design and build the most aerodynamic vehicle that can travel<br />
the farthest with the least number of puffs!
