It's exciting when
Math Makes Sense!
At Mathnasium, we believe that every child has the ability to
be successful in math—it’s a matter of teaching the way that
makes sense to them. When math makes sense, kids excel—
whether they’re far behind or eager to get ahead.
For more than a decade, the Mathnasium Method has
transformed the way kids in grades 2–12 understand and
appreciate math. We build math knowledge upon what they
already know—this helps kids learn quickly and boosts their
confidence right away. When math makes sense, grades
improve, excitement grows, and doors open!
Karzen family blends tennis, basketball
day camps for best summer experience
The summer is a great
time to improve!
Our camps provide an enthusiastic,
positive playing
environment for students
to practice their technical
skills, learn how to compete
and have fun as they do it.
With more than 70 years
combined teaching experience,
Jerry and John Karzen
return to captain multiple
tennis and basketball offerings
for children of all ages
(5-18 for tennis and 4-14 for
basketball).
Tennis campers can enjoy
our little sprouts program
(ages 5-7 at NSRC),
tennis camp (ages 8-13 a
NSRC), tournament camp
(ages 11-14), high-school
tennis (ages 13-18) and
high-performance classes
(by ability).
Basketball campers start
in our little dribblers program
(ages 5-7) and then
move on to the main camp
(ages 8-14).
We keep a 4:1 studentto-instructor
ratio for tennis
and a 6:1 ratio for basketball.
We even offer flexible
weekly or daily sign-ups.
The fun begins June 11
and runs through Aug. 17.
Located at North Shore
Racquet Club and the
New Trier Winnetka (East)
campus, students can learn
tennis, basketball ... or
both!
We offer morning and
afternoon tennis and basketball
options, as well as
full day “combo” camps:
basketball from 9:15 a.m.-
12:15 p.m., lunch from
12:15-12:45 p.m. (campers
bring their own lunch)
and tennis from 12:45-
3:15 p.m. — or vice versa.
Jerry, the tennis director,
played in Wimbledon, the
French Open and the U.S.
Open. He has also served as
the head New Trier varsity
girls tennis coach for 15 of
the last 18 years. Jerry, along
with son Brett and daughter
Becky, has won more than
50 USTA National Father/
Son and Father/Daughter
Championships.
Basketball Director
John Karzen, a former
University of Michigan
and New Trier star athlete,
has directed the basketball
program for more than 20
years and has grown it into
one of the best in the area.
