Lake Forest Academy launches STEM 

camp for summer 2018 

Though the academic 

year ends in June, Lake 

Forest Academy’s campus 

will continue to buzz with 

activity during the summer 

months. LFA hosts various 

camps every year for a 

variety of age groups with 

different interests, including 

its hockey camp program 

and summer program 

for ESL learners. 

This year, LFA will also 

offer weeklong science 

camps for rising sixth-, 

seventh- and eighth-graders. 

Registrants can sign up 

for full day or half day sessions 

that will take place 

from June 18-22 and June 

25-29. Full day sessions 

are from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. 

Half day sessions are from 

9 a.m.-noon or 12:30-3:30 

p.m. Extended care is also 

available until 5 p.m. 

LFA’s own teaching 

faculty will lead each session, 

and students will be 

able to dive in to engaging 

topics about the environment, 

natural elements, 

engineering and chemistry. 

Budding scientists who 

want to learn about the human 

body and forensic archeology 

will get a chance 

to do real-world experiments, 

and tech-savvy engineers 

can choose to build 

rockets or wire robots.

Reyes Family Science

For more than 50 years, 

Glenview families have 

been excited about the 

myriad options and benefits 

of attending summer 

camps at the Glenview 

Park District. 

While many camp activities 

have remained 

the same, in recent years, 

camps have been adding 

new programs and making 

improvements to fit 

the needs and interests of 

today’s children. 

The key to ensuring that 

your child has a great summer 

experience is to select 

a camp that is the right fit 

for him or her. Do your 

kids like examining insects 

under a microscope 

or building structures? 

Specialty camps offer the 

perfect avenue to spark a 

lifelong passion or future 

career. 

Encouraging kids to step 

out of their comfort zone 

and try new things in a 

safe, familiar environment 

is also a wonderful way to 

build their self-esteem.

PLAN IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR 

pre-wedding 

salon experience!

for the big day! The salon visit for you and 

your bridal team is the perfect opportunity 

to create the right mood and set the stage for 

the memorable weekend to follow. At Pascal

So to help with the “beauty down the aisle” 

on that most special day when all eyes are 

on you...we’ve put together a checklist of 

some of the things to be considered and 

managed in advance that will bring out the

PLAN AHEAD! 

Select a salon and spa that is of the highest 

quality and reputation, with a team of 

licensed professionals that can deliver under 

one roof all your bridal parties beauty and 

grooming needs-from head to toe. Consult 

with the salon manager to ensure your 

comfort level with his or her approach and 

how you and your guests will be cared for. 

Book the date/s for everything, if possible 

months in advance but at least one month 

out, to avoid any scheduling hassles. Look 

in the date and times with your family and 

bridal party. 

DETERMINE YOUR BRIDAL 

LOOK IN ADVANCE! 

Once you’ve booked the salon/spa, now 

the fun begins. You get to work with your 

salon consultant and/or stylist in advance 

to determine the look you want-for you and 

your entire bridal party. You may already 

know, or you may want to look online or at 

bridal publications to find what you desire 

for your day. Use your salon consultant or 

stylist to bounce ideas off of so the final 

decision is right for you.

OBVIOUS, BUT DON’T 

FORGET THE SKIN! 

There is without a question a “natural glow” 

of happiness on a bride’s face when her 

wedding day arrives. But you can also help 

enhance that glow with a series of facials 

leading up to the big day, perhaps starting as 

early as six months prior. To ensure pictureperfect 

looking skin on your wedding day, 

the last prenuptial facial should take place 

no later than two weeks before the big day. 

Yes, it’s all in the planning. If you treat the 

salon experience with the same advance 

attention to detail as every other aspect of 

your wedding day, then you and your bridal 

party will feel great, look great, and enjoy 

the pampering along the way.
