Pascal offers ‘best in class’
products, client education
Pascal has established himself
as a leader and innovator of style
and fashion.
Raised in Paris, the fashion
mecca of the world, Pascal
learned at an early age that one
can gain insight about beauty
through cultural differences. Immersing
himself in the life-long
study of defining the continuous
evolution of international fashion
and style is what allows him to
serve as an industry trendsetter.
Pascal and his team continue
to travel the world in search of
emerging trends, styles, treatments
and products, incorporating
this knowledge and perspective
into a rigorous salon education
program. Pascal and his industry
partners deliver ongoing training
to his team, including styling
techniques, the science of color
and essential products. Our salon
provides the latest “best in class”
products along with client education
to maintain effortless upkeep
of artistic style.
We also are up to date on our
social media networking, often
highlighting our staff members
with their techniques.
The Pascal team has been featured
in fashion events, photoshoots
and editorials. Dedicating
time and talent to local charity
events and projects. Pascal prides
himself in supporting styling excellence
throughout the community.
Towering Pines knows the
difference summer camp can make
There is a difference
Between playing Pokemon
Go and searching for
the “Mother Lode” on Gold
Rush Day with your cabin.
Teamwork and persistence
are key to gathering
clues and puzzling out the
location of the infamous
goldrock.
There is a difference
Between listening to your
iPod and hearing the sounds
of birds singing a wake-up
tune, waves splashing on
the shores of Nokomis or
Clear Lake, wind whistling
through the tall pine trees,
halyards chiming on sailboat
masts, and the echo of
campers laughing.
There is a difference
Between grabbing food
on the go and spending time
with your cabin family sharing
a meal three times a day.
The conversations that
happen daily around the table
are instrumental to cabin
bonding and friendships.
There is a difference
Between watching a video
on YouTube and seeing
the annual lip sync contest
“live” on a rainy afternoon
in the rec hall. If you are
lucky, you may even catch
the camp band, “The Totem
Poles,” practicing a “set”
on the pontoon boat during
Evening Workshop. There
is no substitute for seeing
the culmination of learning
new skills, spending
time rehearsing, and celebrating
a job well done.
There is a difference
Between having a conversation
on Snapchat or
other social media and a
face-to-face “real-time” exchange
with a cabin mate or
camp friend. Being able to
see facial expression, read
body language and interpret
emotion are pivotal to understanding
the intricacies
of social interaction.
There is a difference
Between viewing photos
on a screen and seeing a
duck walk through the assembly
area, bald eagles flying
overhead while sailing,
loons swimming on the lake
while on a canoe trip, the sun
setting from your campsite
or deer bounding across your
path while on a trail ride.
The difference is pretty
clear to me ... a Towering
Pines summer makes all the
difference in the world!
It's exciting when
Math Makes Sense!
At Mathnasium, we believe that every child has the ability to
be successful in math—it’s a matter of teaching the way that
makes sense to them. When math makes sense, kids excel—
whether they’re far behind or eager to get ahead.
For more than a decade, the Mathnasium Method has
transformed the way kids in grades 2–12 understand and
appreciate math. We build math knowledge upon what they
already know—this helps kids learn quickly and boosts their
confidence right away. When math makes sense, grades
improve, excitement grows, and doors open!
Karzen family blends tennis, basketball
day camps for best summer experience
The summer is a great
time to improve!
Our camps provide an enthusiastic,
positive playing
environment for students
to practice their technical
skills, learn how to compete
and have fun as they do it.
With more than 70 years
combined teaching experience,
Jerry and John Karzen
return to captain multiple
tennis and basketball offerings
for children of all ages
(5-18 for tennis and 4-14 for
basketball).
Tennis campers can enjoy
our little sprouts program
(ages 5-7 at NSRC),
tennis camp (ages 8-13 a
NSRC), tournament camp
(ages 11-14), high-school
tennis (ages 13-18) and
high-performance classes
(by ability).
Basketball campers start
in our little dribblers program
(ages 5-7) and then
move on to the main camp
(ages 8-14).
We keep a 4:1 studentto-instructor
ratio for tennis
and a 6:1 ratio for basketball.
We even offer flexible
weekly or daily sign-ups.
The fun begins June 11
and runs through Aug. 17.
Located at North Shore
Racquet Club and the
New Trier Winnetka (East)
campus, students can learn
tennis, basketball ... or
both!
We offer morning and
afternoon tennis and basketball
options, as well as
full day “combo” camps:
basketball from 9:15 a.m.-
12:15 p.m., lunch from
12:15-12:45 p.m. (campers
bring their own lunch)
and tennis from 12:45-
3:15 p.m. — or vice versa.
Jerry, the tennis director,
played in Wimbledon, the
French Open and the U.S.
Open. He has also served as
the head New Trier varsity
girls tennis coach for 15 of
the last 18 years. Jerry, along
with son Brett and daughter
Becky, has won more than
50 USTA National Father/
Son and Father/Daughter
Championships.
Basketball Director
John Karzen, a former
University of Michigan
and New Trier star athlete,
has directed the basketball
program for more than 20
years and has grown it into
one of the best in the area.
Glenview Park District lets kids explore interests
For more than 50 years,
Glenview families have
been excited about the
myriad options and benefits
of attending summer
camps at the Glenview
Park District.
While many camp activities
have remained
the same, in recent years,
camps have been adding
new programs and making
improvements to fit
the needs and interests of
today’s children.
The key to ensuring that
your child has a great summer
experience is to select
a camp that is the right fit
for him or her. Do your
kids like examining insects
under a microscope
or building structures?
Specialty camps offer the
perfect avenue to spark a
lifelong passion or future
career.
Encouraging kids to step
out of their comfort zone
and try new things in a
safe, familiar environment
is also a wonderful way to
build their self-esteem.
Or maybe your kids
want to do something new
every day. Day camps
feature all the best parts
of summer — swimming,
arts and crafts, theme
days, outdoor games —
and plenty of mental and
physical stimulation.
Convenient options for
parents include:
• Schedule choices:
Choose from two, three
or five days a week, and
one to eight full weeks of
camps. Flexible options
camps let parents customize
the days and weeks a
child attends. Add a week
or two with summer extension
camps, or consider
before or after care with
some camp options.
• Excellent value: The
Glenview Park District offers
excellent experiences
at an affordable price. Payment
plans and early-bird
discounts are available until
March 15.
• Options by age group
and interest categories:
Camps are available for
children ages 3-17 and organized
by interests: variety
camps, arts camps and
athletic camps.
• Options for inclusion
services: The Glenview
Park District is partnering
with the Northern Suburban
Special Recreation
Association to provide inclusion
services at no additional
cost.
The Glenview Park District
offers more than 85
summer camp options tailored
to fit any interest or
hobby.
Whether a child is interested
in improving their
tennis skills, painting their
next masterpiece, caring
for farm animals or diving
into the world of technology,
there’s a camp
for every child. For more
PLAN IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR
pre-wedding
salon experience!
Pascal pour Elle has worked with thousands
of brides and their families and bridal
parties, helping them look and feel their best
for the big day! The salon visit for you and
your bridal team is the perfect opportunity
to create the right mood and set the stage for
the memorable weekend to follow. At Pascal
pour Elle, this might include champagne,
caviar, limo pick-up, and all the VIP touches
to reflect that once-in-a lifetime experience!
So to help with the “beauty down the aisle”
on that most special day when all eyes are
on you...we’ve put together a checklist of
some of the things to be considered and
managed in advance that will bring out the
most beautiful you.
PLAN AHEAD!
Select a salon and spa that is of the highest
quality and reputation, with a team of
licensed professionals that can deliver under
one roof all your bridal parties beauty and
grooming needs-from head to toe. Consult
with the salon manager to ensure your
comfort level with his or her approach and
how you and your guests will be cared for.
Book the date/s for everything, if possible
months in advance but at least one month
out, to avoid any scheduling hassles. Look
in the date and times with your family and
bridal party.
DETERMINE YOUR BRIDAL
LOOK IN ADVANCE!
Once you’ve booked the salon/spa, now
the fun begins. You get to work with your
salon consultant and/or stylist in advance
to determine the look you want-for you and
your entire bridal party. You may already
know, or you may want to look online or at
bridal publications to find what you desire
for your day. Use your salon consultant or
stylist to bounce ideas off of so the final
decision is right for you.
FINGERS AND TOES ARE
OBVIOUS, BUT DON’T
FORGET THE SKIN!
There is without a question a “natural glow”
of happiness on a bride’s face when her
wedding day arrives. But you can also help
enhance that glow with a series of facials
leading up to the big day, perhaps starting as
early as six months prior. To ensure pictureperfect
looking skin on your wedding day,
the last prenuptial facial should take place
no later than two weeks before the big day.
Yes, it’s all in the planning. If you treat the
salon experience with the same advance
attention to detail as every other aspect of
your wedding day, then you and your bridal
party will feel great, look great, and enjoy
the pampering along the way.
