It gets even smarter. A technology called
LinkRay allows shoppers to scan price
tags with their smartphones to activate
videos, providing more extra product
information. The technology is still under
development, but gives an insight into what
the shops of the future could look like.
Internet access via Laser
Beams
Have you ever thought a Free space optical
communication technology is used to provide
internet by laser and it works exactly the way it
sounds.
Alphabet's subsidiary called simply "X" is
adopting laser beaming boxes in favor of
project loon's balloons or its latest internet
delivery partnership in Andhra Pradesh ,India.
According to the company they aim to provide
"Fiber optic cable, but without the cable."
To accomplish this X will create 2000 FSOC
links
,which use beams of laser light instead of
traditional cables to deliver the internet over
long distances.
These Light-Beaming links will be placed
kilometers apart on roofs and posts to
plug network access gaps between cell towers
and Wi-Fi hotspots. As the signal beams are
directly between the boxes it can easily
transverse common obstacles like rivers,
roads and railways.
Andhra Pradesh which is currently home to
Hyderabad have some of the the cheapest
broadband access that exists globally .However
in 2024 Hyderabad will no longer be a part
of Andhra Pradesh due to creation of new
state, which will lower connectivity and
access. The state hopes that with the
introduction of this laser delivery
technology,12 million households and
thousands of government organizations will
have broadband internet by 2019.The above
technique also shows the evolution of laser
delivery
technology.
