It’s Spring! Well, nearly. After the recent snow apocalypse, you’d be forgiven
for thinking that the warm weather will never come, but be assured, Spring
is coiled, waiting to be sprung.
This time of year is all about new beginnings and you’ll start to see new
shoots of life appearing soon. With the warmer weather on the way
(hopefully) you’ll be able to get outside and enjoy it. In our What’s On Guide,
you’ll find lots of amazing activities to keep you busy this Spring, including
Easter egg hunts, egg-tastic fun days and lots more during the Easter
holidays. If you’d like to let us know what your favourite aspects of Spring are
or if you have some lovely pictures of the world around you, we’d love to see
them!
In this issue of Primary Times, you can read about ‘What’s New’ on the
market for children and take a look at the ‘Family Travel Ideas’ to get
inspiration for a family break. If you fancy seeing a show or film, why not
cast your eye over our Box Office listings and Film Review? It might also be
worth checking out the magazine vouchers and offers highlighted on page
6, including for Gulliver’s Kingdom and Denby Pottery Village. Oh, and don’t
forget to enter our competitions on P.24, for National Forest Adventure Farm,
Geronimo Festival, Derby Theatre and the National Brewery Centre. There’s
lots of great prizes to be won!
Aside from the all the cute new animals, the change in the weather, and
the new flowers, it’s also that time of year when a certain bunny leaves
us chocolate eggs. We’re rather proud that we made it through this
introduction without using a single egg pun.
Have a wonderful Spring and Easter and we’ll see you all again for our May
edition.
NEWS & OFFERS
Dragons’ Den backed theatre school
launches a weekend session in Derby
Derby is set to welcome another part-time theatre school that won the
backing of ‘Dragon’ Duncan Bannatyne back in 2007 on BBC’s
Dragons’ Den. With its unique mix of both commercial and musical
theatre styles of singing, dancing and drama, the Saturday theatre
school has plenty of opportunities for would-be stars of the stage and
screen as well as those that want to learn new skills, have fun and make
new friends.
Razzamataz Derby is launching on Saturday April 21st at Lees
Brook Community School, Morley Rd, Derby DE21 4QX. To celebrate its
launch, the school will be holding an open day where local youngsters
between the ages of 4-18 can come along and try the singing, dance
and drama classes that will be available every Saturday during term time.
The theatre school is run by Shanley Booth who is passionate about the
performing arts. With a national and international dance career of her
own she cannot wait to open a second school in the local area.
“Razz skills keep young people active, instill a confidence and pride and
encourage social skills. All of which are vital today,” Duncan Bannatyne.
To book a place on the FREE open day email
At Kip McGrath in Derby the focus is completely on the
individual needs of your child. The equation is simple: qualified
teachers + the best resources + focussed time = motivated children
+ excellent results.
Your child will receive this individual support to progress at their own pace to improve academically in
English and Maths and to love learning. Kip McGrath have over 40 years of success in helping children
and young people be the best they can be. Our approach to learning is to work with your child; finding
out how they learn successfully. Concepts they may have previously found a challenge are explained in a
clear and understandable way and are revisited to ensure a solid grounding. Parents report that not only
has their children’s educational development been significant, but the confidence they have gained from
attending a Kip centre has given fresh
motivation to achieve well beyond what
had previously been expected.
Have you been thinking about getting
them some help for a while? Based on
helping hundreds of students in Derby
and Derbyshire over the past 12 years, we
have developed inspiring and motivational
environments that students enjoy coming
to. Our amazing teachers work hard
to make learning fun and we always
celebrate success individually with each
student.
You have an opportunity to make a lasting
positive difference to your child today
with Kip McGrath. Don’t delay – give
us a call or go online to book your free
educational assessment.
Around 1,500 youngsters from
nurseries and schools across Derby
danced together in one place on
the 8 & 9 March, as part of the
Celebration of Dance organised
by Derby City School Sports
Partnership. As well as the Beach
Party theme injecting some summer
feel good factor into the recent
weather conditions, it is hoped
the event will have inspired young
people to get involved in dance
and physical activity, engendering a
lifelong love of movement and being
part of a team.
that is not how this one goes! What if the
Big Bad Wolf wasn’t big or bad at all? What
if they got it wrong? Robyn wants to tell
you what really happened through a world
of homemade make-believe. And here is
where our story starts.A gentle wolf with
