It’s Spring! Well very nearly. This time of year, is all about new 

beginnings and with the warmer weather on the way, hopefully, you 

should be able to get outside and discover all the new signs of Spring.

throughout the countryside taking place over the holidays. There

All Stars Cricket gives girls and boys from the ages of five to 

eight an opportunity to become a star. The curriculum of fun 

cricket activities and games provides your children with the 

basic movement skills to begin a lifelong love of our sport and 

general physical activity. 

For an hour a week over an eight-week period, our fully trained 

and vetted activators will deliver game-based activities that 

teach basic cricket skills including catching, throwing and 

hitting moving balls and social skills such as teamwork and 

communication. Held at accredited cricket clubs, these courses 

are the perfect way for your child to learn about cricket and

Royal British Legion’s Poppy Walk 

Looking for a great family day out this summer? You’ll be able to discover 

Birmingham’s hidden sights this summer in support of the Armed Forces 

community. The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Walk is coming to 

Birmingham for the first time this summer and is the perfect way to discover 

the past and present of this historic city. This 10km sponsored walk is suitable 

for all ages and abilities, you can even bring your dog along! 

On setting off from Birmingham Cathedral you’ll be armed with a map to 

navigate the trail and a quiz to answer en route to help you explore the city’s 

rich history. You’ll be able to spot lots of other Poppy Walkers around the city 

wearing their distinctive Poppy Walk t-shirts. Lynne Curtis, a walker from last 

year’s Poppy Walk told Primary Times, “We loved meeting so many wonderful 

people on the walk and actually looking at the city rather than rushing to be 

where we have to be next. We learnt so much on the walk!”

Stunning new pathways guide visitors 

throughout Stratford Butterfly Farm! 

Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm are delighted to unveil its new stunning 

pathways. Designed by artist Madeline Smith who also illustrated the Farm’s 

garden mural and interactive Explorers Guide. 

The smooth level surfaces guide visitors throughout the Flight Area. Inspired by 

tropical rainforests, the new pathways are bright and colourful, incorporating 

tropical leaf prints and animal footprints. The animal

The competition is open to all children aged 4 -14 and this year’s 

theme is ‘Heroes’. Children are invited to write a 500 word story all 

about a hero, this could be an every day hero or a superhero! 

The winner will be surprised at a school assembly by David 

Walliams who will present them with their trophy, a trip to 

Disneyland Paris for their family and £500 of books for their school! 

David says: “It is a real privilege to be named judge for this year’s 

National Young Writers’ Awards and I am so looking forward to 

reading what the brilliant brains of our country’s children come up 

with. To write is such a wonderful, creative outlet for 

people of all ages and competitions just like this one 

are a fantastic way of encouraging kids across the 

UK to take the leap and release their inner authors!”
