ALL STARS CRICKET
- MADE FOR KIDS
All Stars Cricket gives girls and boys from the ages of five to
eight an opportunity to become a star. The curriculum of fun
cricket activities and games provides your children with the
basic movement skills to begin a lifelong love of our sport and
general physical activity.
For an hour a week over an eight-week period, our fully trained
and vetted activators will deliver game-based activities that
teach basic cricket skills including catching, throwing and
hitting moving balls and social skills such as teamwork and
communication. Held at accredited cricket clubs, these courses
are the perfect way for your child to learn about cricket and
make friends in
NEW 2018
KIT!
a safe and, most
importantly, fun
environment.
All participants will receive an All Stars Cricket branded pack including a cricket bat, ball, shirt,
cap, backpack and activity booklet. If you took part last year and sign-up for 2018, you’ll receive a
new bat, ball, stumps, new-design T-shirt, kit bag and activity booklet.
Why is All Stars Cricket good for my child?
All Stars Cricket will provide your child with all of the fundamental skills they need to play.
Through lively, fun games, they will learn about cricket and be better prepared to take part in all
sports. Over the eight-week programme, the trained activators will teach your child to:
l Catch and throw a ball
l Hit a moving ball
l Bowl with a straight arm
l Play a basic game of cricket
l Work and communicate as a team
l Have lots of fun with new friends
All Stars Cricket is also fantastic for parents. For an hour a week all mums and dads are invited to
get involved and play cricket with their children. We know this is a great way to spend time with
your child and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Tips:
l You don’t need to know the rules, make up
your own
l If your child is a beginner, use a big ball so
they enjoy hitting and catching the ball
l Cricket can be broken down into skills like
catching practice
l Throw the ball under arm and slowly
l Remember to have fun!
How to Prepare for the 11 Plus in 6 Months
With just less than 6 months to go before the
Birmingham, Walsall and Warwickshire 11 Plus
Examinations here are our suggestions for how to
use the remaining time effectively:
1. Regular Reading
Reading regularly can improve your child’s
reading speed, vocabulary and comprehension
skills. Reading can also help your child to deal
with difficultly worded maths problems.
2. Practice Daily
Your child will have the best chance for 11 Plus
success if they do some work on a daily basis.
Daily preparation over time has been proven to
help children to become more consistent than
children who only rush preparations shortly
before the exam.
3. Mock Exams
Sitting a series of mock exams will help you to
monitor your child’s performance over time and
highlight strengths and weaknesses. Exposing
your child to examination conditions will also
help your child to overcome examination nerves
and practice working under time constraints.
4. Intensive Courses
Many children receive regular weekly tuition for
