In addition to early renewal,
he said he encourages
seniors to get a state-issued
ID card, which is free for
adults 65 years and older
and doesn’t expire. Having
one, he said, can make
life much easier if someone
loses a driver’s license card,
and the card serves as an official,
photo ID for anyone
who chooses not to renew
their license or cannot renew
their license for any reason.
Other services offered at
the Super Senior Day included
providing state identification
cards, change of address,
renewing license place stickers
and essentially anything
else that can be done at a fullservice
facility other than the
actual road test.
Kelly said a lot of seniors
do not realize the importance
of reviewing the Rules of the
Road, but, in fact, some laws
have changed and many people
may find that they have
gotten out of certain habits
such as using a turn signal.
“They think because
they’ve been driving for 40
years without any tickets,
without any accidents but
they’re cheating themselves
by not coming to the classes,”
Kelly said. “ ... It never hurts
anyone to come, and any age
can come to the class.”
