It was a perfect St. Patrick’s
Day.
The sun shined, the
weather cooperated and the
parents and friends of Winnetka’s
Saints Faith, Hope
and Charity Catholic Parish
showed their support of the
parish school at its annual
Blarney Bash on Saturday,
March 17.
The event is the school’s
main source of funding for
teacher bonuses and the
supplementing of school
programs throughout the
year.
“Our dedicated faculty
and staff go above and beyond
for our children every
day,” said Meghan Halleron,
“Yet, they receive far less
compensation than their
public school counterparts.”
“By way of comparison,
the starting salary for
a teacher at Faith Hope
is approximately 33 percent
less than the starting
salary of a teacher at the
Winnetka public elementary
schools,” said Meghan
sacrifice our talented teachers
make in order to devote
their careers to Catholic
education, it is important
that we supplement their
salaries with a year-end bonus.”
Blarney Bash began with
a 5 p.m. Mass celebrated
by the church’s pastor, Rev.
Martin O’Donovan. Children
from the parish school
participated in the Mass,
with fifth-grade students
serving as ushers, students
in the children’s choir singing
during the service and
