Ahh, Spring!
Long Awaited Spring: They enjoy Spring Break every year and always go to the Houston Rodeo or
down to Galveston. Mom & dad’s wedding Anniversary is on April 2, and enjoy going out of town
for a few days. With the weather becoming better by the day, their kids spend most afternoons and
weekends outside playing.
The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town: “We all get together for a nice big lunch. We make an Easter
bunny cake, dye eggs, and do an egg hunt. Lunch is usually Uncle Brian and Grandma’s famous ribs.”
And he’s good to me: The Easter Bunny leaves their kids a basket for each of them that they have to
search for and find. There are eggs and candy along with one special present for both of them. They
also also enjoy an egg hunt early in the morning when they wake up to find eggs around the house.
What’s it all about: “Easter means family to us. Spending time with one another and enjoying each
others’ company. We want to build loving memories and a strong family times. The most important
thing is that we are all happy and healthy. Easter is always a reminder of how lucky we are, how
blessed we are, thankful, and a kickoff to some awesome weather.”

NC Residents Get
Together to Save Trees
You know it’s never a good sign when you’re driving down the street and
you see giant orange Xs spray painted on trees.
That is, however, just what Lori Doucet-Alexander saw one day in early
February when she was driving near the intersection of Fry Road and
Kingsland Blvd. “I saw those orange Xs and I thought, ‘Oh no! What is
going on?’ So I jumped online to find out.”
She was surprised to find no discussion there on the NC Facebook page
and she figured residents didn’t know what was going on, so she decided
to say something. “Guys, they are cutting down our trees - we have to
take action.”
It turns out, studies had been conducted that showed increasing
congestion in our area and Harris County Precinct 3 had undertaken a
project to cut the trees down and create additional lanes to help traffic
flow. Residents who called the agency were told that it was too late,
that the contractors had already been paid and the project could not be
stopped.
“I was really upset about it,” said Docet-Alexander. “Nottingham Country
is known for its trees and the trees are a big part of our decision to move
here. I was not going to stand for this; it’s not done until the chain saws
are out.”
She and other residents swung into action. They started a petition at
change.org and had 1,000 signatures in a matter of hours. They made
signs and posted them at the intersection. They used social media and
called traditional media outlets as well.
“I have a pretty good idea that Precinct 3’s office was inundated with
calls and emails,” Docet-Alexander said.
Docet-Alexander and other NC residents are aware of the bigger picture
here. There is something called a “limited purpose annexation.” What
that means is that the City of Houston, often in cooperation with a
local MUD, annexes pieces of property along freeways and then the two
entities split a portion of the sales tax revenue from businesses in that
area.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Steve Radak and other local leaders maintain
that these annexations create congestion and that the City of Houston
and MUDs aren’t doing their part to ease the problems they create.
Radak personally visited the NC site and subsequently decided to put the
project on hold. He told the Houston Chronicle it was because it was “too
intrusive.”
Docet-Alexander says she gives Radak’s office credit on the
communication front. Every resident who called received a return phone
call and everyone who sent an email received a reply.
“In the bigger picture, you have to look at the fact that infrastructure is
failing to keep up with growth,” she said. “The people who are traveling
through here don’t live in our area. Those of us who live here would
rather have a bit of congestion and keep our trees.

with the county and came up with an amicable solution. I think we’re all
in a better place for it.”
At press time, the NC group was planning to attend Precinct 3’s Feb. 27 th
meeting, wherein they were going to make a statement and deliver their
petition to the agency.
Docet-Alexander said she felt a little like Lorax during the ordeal. “If you
don’t speak up for something you believe in, nothing will happen.”
Three Areas of Concern
And now for the nagging portion of the newsletter (we know, it’s your
favorite part). For the love of Pete, please do something about the nasty
mildew and/or mold on the side of your house. It’s pretty out of control
in our neighborhood right now. Yes. We know it’s a rotten chore. Yes. We
know you’re busy. But please do try to make it happen. Our neighborhood
is looking a bit shoddy at the moment. If you don’t want to undertake it
yourself, there are companies that specialize in pressure washing and
their prices are pretty reasonable.
Number two on our list: your trees! Please trim them. And number three
is the rest of your foliage. We were pretty hard hit with freezes this year
and some of the plants are looking rather, well, DEAD. Please remove
them and perhaps revitalize your lawn while you’re at it. Your mother
would be so proud.
Katy Color Run on April 7th
We want to remind everyone that the 2018 Katy Color Run is scheduled
for Saturday, April 7 th . The 5K Color Run will start at 8 AM from the
Kingsland Baptist Church parking lot and the Kids Dash will begin at 9 AM
in Rennie Park. We would like to make residents aware of the run, since
it will be taking place in our neighborhood. Adult participants will do a
loop through NC and we are asking residents who live on Shillington to
please not park on the street that morning.
There will be food trucks parked along Rennie from 7-11 AM and there
will be other vendors and portable toilets in the Kingsland Baptist
Church parking lot. The event benefits Christ Clinic, Clothed by Faith,
Hope Impacts, Katy Christian Ministries and Compassion Katy.

There was a theft of a bicycle reported. We also had a report of a robbery
on S. Fry. The owner of the home was allowing a cousin, who had been
released from prison in 2016, to stay with the family. The cousin ended
up assaulting the owner’s son and stealing approximately $40,000 worth
of jewelry and then he pawned it. Our investigators were able to locate
some of the pawned items and a warrant for his arrest has been filed.

The monthly meetings of the Board of Directors are held on the second
Thursday, at 6:30 PM at the Mason Creek Community Center Houghton
Room. The facility is located at the corner of Houghton and Kingsland.
All members are welcome to attend the meetings. However, due to time
constraints, we cannot allow audience members to speak at the meeting
unless they contact us ahead of time and get put on the agenda. As much
as I dislike telling that to someone who has taken the time out of his

Nottingham Country Garden Club
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, Nottingham Country Garden Club (NCGC)
will feature Jacob Martin with a presentation on the History of Mercer
Arboretum. He is the greenhouse manager at Mercer Botanic Gardens
and has his own business outside of work called Old School Produce.
He grows herbs and veggies for local restaurants. He loves very unusual
plants especially ones that are edible or poisonous and prefers growing
plants from seed but he also enjoys teaching about all forms of
propagation.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month from
September through May. We welcome all people interested in gardening
and gardening related topics. We serve the West Houston and Katy
areas. You do not have to live in the Nottingham Country neighborhood
to belong to our group! NCGC is a non-profit organization affiliated with
the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs, the Texas State Garden Clubs
and the National Garden Clubs. The purpose of the club is to promote
the beautification of our community, support local and national
educational and civic organizations and educate the community about
our environment. Donations from the NCGC are funded by our​​annual ​
Spring​ ​Sale​ ​and​ ​projects​ ​that​ ​vary​ ​each​ ​year.
Meet and greet time begins at 9:30 AM and the program will begin at

33rd Annual Katy Folk Life Festival
Ever wondered what life was like in Texas during the late 1800’s? At the
upcoming 33 rd Annual Katy Folk Life Festival, visitors will get a chance to
experience pioneer life by seeing how they dressed, how they survived,
the types of foods they prepared and even where their children went
to school. Other activities include: blacksmith demonstrations, hand
quilting, woodworking and roping skills presentations. Admission is only
$1. The festival will be held at the Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning
Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494 on Saturday, April 7 th from
9 AM-4 PM.

Instructional Calendars
For Next Two Years
As part of the Katy Independent School District, “Your District, Your Voice”
initiative, the community has provided its input for the upcoming yearly
instructional calendar. The Katy ISD Board of Trustees has approved the
following option for the 2018-2019 academic year:

“The District is required to have a minimum of 75,600 minutes
of instruction per school year,” says Bonnie Holland, associate
superintendent for administration, governance and legal affairs. “With
the options approved, Katy ISD has enough calendar minutes to cover
two bad weather days,” added Holland.
K-12 Insight, the external research firm conducting the survey, found
that, out of the 22,169 participants, 65% favored option #1. The Board
also approved an instructional calendar for 2019-2020 school year. This
calendar mirrors the preferred components of the 2018-19 calendar.

Friday April 6th
Mechanical Bull Ride, Bungee Ride, Inflatables,
Games, Entertainment, Food and Silent Auction
The 2018 Nottingham Country Elementary (NCE) Carnival is
coming on April 6 th , from 5-8:30 PM. Everyone is invited, free
of charge, to “Get Medieval!” The event will transport families
to a medieval world of rides, games, food and entertainment.
Carnival is one of two annual fundraisers for NCE and typically
attracts hundreds of Katy residents and their families. It will
take place at the NCE campus, 20500 Kingsland Blvd. Katy,
Texas.
Activities will include many games and rides, including the
return of the Mechanical Bull (a popular medieval pastime)
and the Quad Monkey Bungee Ride, which will send our young
royalty soaring high into the dragon sphere. You can also
climb the castle tower (a towering rock-climbing wall) in a feat
of awesome bravery or challenge your fellow lords and ladies
in a race through the kingdom (giant, inflatable, dual-lane
obstacle course) or simply enjoy a leisurely ride through the
kingdom on the king’s trackless train. All guests are invited
to win the queen’s favor by dunking kingdom invaders in the
royal Dunking Booth. Young attendees will enjoy the royal
Petting Zoo and every guest can replenish their supplies of
knightly gear at the Carnival General Store. Kids of all ages will
delight in capturing photos with their friends in the Medievalthemed
Photo Booth.
Guests can look forward to the finest of entertainment,
including a performance by the Taylor High School Drumline.
In the food and beverage department, the Carnival will offer a
sampling of culinary delights fit for a king! Chick-Fil-A returns
this year, along with the Chick-Fil-A cow. Pizza and Tutti Frutti
for dessert also will be available. And don’t forget the royal
Silent Auction, bound to tantalize with themed baskets from
each NCE class, as well as parties and the ever-popular 5 th
grade basketball game. Previous auctions have included a
weekend getaway in a Galveston condo! Stay tuned to NCE’s
Facebook page for details on this year’s auction items!
Kids are invited to wear Medieval costumes - from knightly
armor to royal robes - to the Carnival, as a reminder to
everyone that we are on a quest to be the best (that’s the
NCE Knights’ motto, after all!) Stop by the Knighting Booth
to be knighted and receive your official knight’s name. And
everyone is encouraged to wear their dancing shoes and
participate in the Carnival Dance Contest. Prizes for 1 st and
2 nd place will be awarded!
Volunteers from Taylor High School will be lending a helping
hand to this year’s event and many local businesses have
shown their support of NCE by sponsoring this year’s Carnival.
All sponsorship dollars are applied toward purchases to
improve the school. So, mark your calendars and Let’s Get
Medieval at the NCE “Knight at the Carnival” extravaganza on
Friday, April 6 th . We’ll see you at the Nottingham Castle!

Spring Soccer Sign Ups - Katy/

Branch/Westpark Beltway
Registration - Now Open! Registration for Fun, Fair, Positive Soccer (FFPS)
is open for boys and girls ages 4 to 18 for the SPRING Season. Games start
on April 7, 2018. FFPS is a non-profit youth soccer program dedicated
to providing a positive youth sports experience for all children. Founded
in 1986 in Katy, Texas, FFPS has grown to 22 leagues and 16,000 players
throughout the Greater Houston area. FFPS offers children a fun and fair
experience, including one practice per week, a full uniform and trophy for
every player, equal playing time and play every position, co-ed/balanced
teams, positive coaching and more. No tryouts are required.

Southwest Houston’s own brand new women’s flat track roller derby
team is now forming. This isn’t the old school roller derby you’ve seen in
the past. We train derby athletes to compete according to the rules and
guidelines set forth by WFTDA, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.

Walks/Runs/Craft Shows/Festivals
will go toward the local nonprofit The Arc of Katy to help them rebuild
their facility that was destroyed during Hurricane Harvey. The Arc works
to create opportunities for all children and adults with intellectual
and developmental disabilities (IDD) to enable each person to be a
participating and respected member of our community. The run will take
place at Cinco Ranch High School on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8
AM to 11 AM. The event features the throwing and tossing of non-toxic
colored corn starch in the air in the beginning of the race and throughout

2nd Annual Katy Color Run
The 2 nd annual Katy Color Run will be held Saturday, April 7 th at Kingsland
Baptist Church. The color-filled run will consist of a 5K run and a 1K kids’
dash. The community event will also feature entertainment, food trucks
and vendors and a kids’ fun zone. Proceeds from the run will benefit local
nonprofit organizations: Christ Clinic, Clothed by Faith, Compassion Katy,
Hope Impacts and Katy Christian Ministries. The Ballard Foundation is the
title sponsor of the event. The benefiting nonprofits provided thousands
of people with medical, food, clothing and shelter needs after Hurricane
Harvey. Christ Clinic offers medical care to uninsured and underinsured
patients. Clothed by Faith gives gently used clothing to thousands of
Katy area residents in need. Compassion Katy’s connects churches,
businesses and nonprofits to provide solutions to meet the needs of
the community. Hope Impacts imparts hope to homeless and under
resourced people in the Katy area by connecting them to services and
resources. Katy Christian Ministries offers food and emergency financial
assistance to those in need and also offers many other resources to the

Nearly all children with 5p-Syndrome have poor muscle tone when they
are young. Other characteristics may include feeding difficulties, delays
in walking, hyperactivity, scoliosis and significant developmental delays.
A small number of children are born with serious organ defects and other
life threatening medical conditions, although most individuals with
5p- can anticipate a normal life expectancy. With early and consistent
educational intervention, as well as physical and language therapy,
children with 5p-Syndrome are capable of reaching their fullest potential
and can lead full and meaningful lives. Children born with this very rare
genetic defect will most likely require ongoing support for life, from a
team of parents, therapists, medical and educational professionals to
help the child achieve his or her maximum potential.

The Arc of Katy’s
Summer Day Program!
The Time to Enroll is Now!
The Arc of Katy is currently taking applications for three Summer
Program sessions for teens and adults with intellectual and
development disabilities who are at least 16 years of age and meet
the program’s minimum requirements.
The Day Program will be held Monday through Friday, weekly, from

CAF Houston Wing’s Warbird
Weekend and Open House
On Saturday and Sunday, April 14 th & 15 th from10 AM until 5 PM, those
big, old airplanes with the mighty round engines will be flying again as
the Commemorative Air Force’s Houston Wing presents its 2018 Warbird
Weekend and Open House at Hangar B-5, West Houston Airport. Get up
close and feel the prop wash and hear the noise as radial engines power
these historic WWII aircraft. See some of the old planes your father,
grandfather or grandmother learned to fly for World War II.
Admission is $15 per CAR at the gate or $10 per car if ticket is purchased
in advance online (check our website or facebook page for details) and
earns you a day of aircraft and military vehicle displays, museum exhibits
and fun. Warbird rides will also be available for purchase.
Food, drinks, gifts and souvenirs will be available. Come on out and honor
America. The Commemorative Air Force is a non-profit national patriotic

Katy Community ‘Chip Clinic, a local non-profit, volunteer-run
organization is pleased to announce its spring schedule of upcoming
events to serve the needs of Katy-area residents. The organization
offers $10 microchipping for pets with FREE lifetime registration! What
is a microchip? A microchip is a rice-sized transponder that is injected
between a pet’s shoulder blades with a needle. When getting ‘chipped,
most animals don’t notice any difference from when receiving yearly
vaccinations. A microchip does NOT have a GPS locator on it, but as long
as the account is kept up-to-date, its number will be linked to the pet
owner’s contact information. The microchip account is easily accessible
online and pet owners can update as needed and even add pet’s photo
and veterinarian info.
Pet owners do not need to live in the same town as these upcoming
events to take advantage of this service, but PLEASE NOTE: cash only and
MUST bring rabies certification paperwork (not just the collar tag) - for
volunteer and attendee safety. There is a limit of two pets per family,
unless pre-approved. Cats should be in a secure carrier and dogs should
be on a no-slip leash (please no retractable leashes).

On February 7, 2018, Katy Area Retired
Educators (KARE) held their monthly
meeting and raised funds for KARE
scholarships through their annual Chocolate
Auction. Guest speaker, Randolph Holford,
a Professional Auctioneer, shared with
them his passion for auctioneering and his
involvement in Youth FFA. KARE meetings
are once again being held at the Merrell
Center. Thank you, Midway Barbeque, for
hosting meetings during the restoration of

Katy Resident Raises Money To Help
Schools, Clubs And Organizations
For four years, Katy resident Dorothy Sanchez has worked to raise money
in the hopes of helping local schools, clubs and organizations thrive. This
year not only marked Sanchez’s fifteenth Scentsy fundraiser but her
most successful one yet. In December, Sanchez presented Kelsey Peltier
a check for $2,050.49 to go toward the Theatre Department at Poly Ryon
Middle School. Peltier, the school’s theatre teacher incorporated the
Scentsy fundraiser into an assignment for her theatre students who were
able to raise the money in just two weeks.
Mrs. Sanchez is a Scentsy Director who believes in one of Scentsy’s
values, “Give More Than You Take.” She donates part of her commissions
to build up the community. In her four years of holding fundraisers, she
has been able to donate more than $50,000.

Nature Programs
For Preschool-Aged Children
SATURDAYS IN NATURE
This program is held on the fourth Saturday of each month at the
Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary, held between 1 and 4 PM. A guided
nature walk will begin at 2 PM. No reservations required. Donations are
encouraged. This is a “whole family” program; parents or other adult
guardians should participate with their children. Park in the Memorial
Drive United Methodist Church parking lot at 12955 Memorial Drive,
enter the nature sanctuary through the marked gate and proceed on the
path to the log cabin. Upcoming programs include April: Bird Watching
- Craft: TP Binoculars.
THE TITMOUSE CLUB
The Titmouse Club is a nature program for children ages 2 ½ to 5
sponsored by the Houston Audubon Docent Guild. The program is
offered every Tuesday and Wednesday morning, 10 to 11 AM, from
mid-September until mid-May at the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary,
440 Wilchester Boulevard. Each week features a different nature theme
and may include nature talks, stories, hands-on activities and walks in

children’s festival in the United States. Two days of games, circus acts, rides,

Houston. Over 5.4 million dollars have been raised for the organization

April 14 th - It’s that time again! Don’t miss the Annual Art Car Parade.
Downtown Houston will come to life when more than 250 “motoriffic”
mobile masterpieces hit the pavement. The Houston Art Car Parade

dogs please) event. The Parade has become a nationwide phenomenon
is expected to draw a crowd of 250,000 fans from across the map and

April 14 th -15 th - Japan Festival Houston celebrates the rich cultural

April 15 th - Houston Barbecue Festival. The venue has changed but
the game’s the same, smoked meat until you drop. After several years at
NRG Park, the Houston Barbecue Festival is moving its 2018 smoke-out

north of downtown on U.S. 59, offers additional amenities including
free parking, restrooms, covered areas in case of inclement weather and

Standup For Kids
How would you feel if you saved a kid’s life? StandUp For Kids is an
all volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk and
homeless kids through volunteer outreach efforts. Our volunteers search
the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and
street kids improve their lives. Every day throughout the US thirteen kids
die on the streets from abuse, disease and suicide. According to recent
statistics Houston has up to 2,500 kids living on the streets at any given
time. Texas has the highest rate of homeless youth in the U.S. StandUp
For Kids needs supplies for our Houston program, which provides food,
clothing, counseling and a safe environment for the homeless youth

Foster Children:
Preparation For Adult Living (Pal)
When foster children reach age 18, they are considered independent.
That’s difficult for kids who have been wards of the state, with
necessities arranged by caseworkers with state funds. Now they’ll
have to figure out how to organize themselves and make their money
last a whole month. Fortunately, Child protective Services offers
them a program to help prepare for independence: Preparation for
Adult Living (PAL).
The year-long course culminates in an all-day workshop hosted by
the National Council for Jewish Women (NCJW). The course is held at
Junior Achievement’s BizTown, using computer kiosks sponsored by

KATY AREA RIDE SERVICE NEEDS YOUR HELP DRIVING OLDER ADULTS
Katy Area Ride Service (KARS) is looking for your assistance in transporting
seniors in need of personal (hair salon, bank, classes, volunteering,
visiting a loved one, taking a pet to the vet) and occasional medical rides.
Rides are provided in your personal vehicles to passengers who are age
65+ and ambulatory (not wheelchair bound, may use walking aids). Time
commitment is flexible and you choose the Katy territory in which you
want to drive. Volunteers do not provide rides that go east of Barker
Cypress, north of Clay Road, west of FM 1463 or south of Bellaire Blvd at
the Grand Parkway. Benefits to Volunteer Drivers include the opportunity
to help seniors retain independent living, dignity and freedom. Drivers
tell us the day(s) and times they are able to drive. Drivers choose if
they wait for the senior or return later to pick them up. Drivers must be
between 21 years of age and 78 years of age with a good driving record,
pass a background check and show proof of insurance coverage (state
minimums) as required by the State of Texas. To request a volunteer

operates under an official 501(c)(3) that designates it as a transportation
service provider for seniors and non-wheelchair bound persons with

Tips for April
Mulch - If possible, buy Bagged Mulch. Bagging helps eliminate
a great many pests that die from various causes while in the bag.
When you buy ‘loose’ mulch that is trucked to your home, you
are also buying ants, roaches, termites, etc… Spend a little more
on bagged material and save lots of future pest problems. Keep
your mulch at least 4” - 6” below the top of your homes exposed
foundation edge/side. This will aid in minimizing pests in your
home and allow for quick and accurate termite inspections.
Shrubs, Flowers and groundcovers - Trim all shrubs/plants at
least 12” - 18” back from your home. Do your best to create a plant
free zone that is 18” - 24” wide around your home. The exception
is your lawn - it can grow up next to the slab as long as you keep
it 4” - 6” below the top of the slab. The most conducive to termite
infestation are groundcover plantings, growing high against your
homes exterior or (especially) ivy that grows on your walls.
Trees - Spray your trees at least twice annually. The spring spray
eliminates overwintering pests and fungi while preparing trees to
resist the pest onslaught of summer with residual pesticides. The
fall spray also kills pests from the summer, prevents most fungi
from occurring over the winter and puts your valuable asset off to a
healthy winter’s dormancy.
Lawn - Spring is the perfect time to do a fungicide treatment to stop
brown patch in its tracks along with other fungi. If your lawn is thin
and weak in some areas, here are some important fundamentals: a)
lawn aeration b) fertilization c) weed control.
Most important is proper watering:
• Water once per week (unless you get a 1/2” rain or more - then do
not water.)
• Water heavily (1” - 2”) for total lawn coverage.
• In severe drought, water every 5 th day.
• Water from 5 AM to 7 AM in the morning - NOT AT NIGHT.
• A heavy deep weekly watering makes the turf grow deeper,
stronger and more drought resistant roots.
• Less watering also saves you money!!
IRS TAX DEADLINE
People have until Tuesday, April 17, 2018, to file their 2017 returns and
pay any taxes due. The filing tax deadline is later this year due to several
factors. The usual April 15 th deadline falls on Sunday this year, which
would normally give taxpayers until at least the following Monday.
However, Emancipation Day, a Washington, D.C., holiday, is observed
on Monday, April 16 th , giving taxpayers nationwide an additional day
to file. By law, Washington holidays impact tax deadlines for everyone in
the same way federal holidays do. Taxpayers requesting an extension will
have until Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, to file.
The IRS expects more than 70 percent of taxpayers to get tax refunds this
year. Last year, nearly 112 million refunds were issued, with an average
refund of $2,895.

Caramel Pecan Pie
You could make this on National Caramel Day April 5 th !
INGREDIENTS:
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
36 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.) In a saucepan over low heat, combine
caramels, butter and milk. Cook, stirring frequently, until smooth. Remove from heat and
set aside.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt. Gradually mix in the melted caramel
mixture. Stir in pecans. Pour filling into unbaked pie crust.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Allow to
cool until filling is firm.

Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball

INGREDIENTS:
6 slices bacon
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) package buttermilk Ranch dressing mix
1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
4 green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons chopped black olives
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning
occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper
towel-lined plate. Chop the cooled bacon into small pieces.
Stir together the cream cheese and ranch dressing mix in a bowl until smooth. Add the
bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions and olives, stir until well combined. Shape the
mixture into a ball and roll in the chopped pecans. Refrigerate overnight.
