2018

Camp Overbrook is a summer program for rising three-year-old 

preschoolers through eighth grade students. Choose from academic, 

art, athletic, cultural, culinary, outdoor adventures, service, 

STEM camps and so much more! Our camps offer excellent 

instruction from experienced instructors. Let the adventure begin! 

Please Note: The two weeks of camp offered in June consist 

of boys only camp programs, whereas the camps offered during 

the months of July and August consist of co-ed camp programming. 

BEFORE AND AFTER-CARE: Camp Overbrook is happy to offer 

before and after-care from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m. 

Campers will enjoy a snack, play games, and participate in various 

activities. Cost is $30 per week for before or after-care, $50 

for both. Sign up during camp registration. Before and after-care 

for June camps will be in the St. Cecilia gym. Before and aftercare 

for July camps will be in the Overbrook School gym. 

REGISTRATION: Registration is not complete until payment 

is received. A camp giveaway for the week and a snack during 

each day of the camp are included in the camp fee. A medical 

and photography release form for each camper must be completed 

as well. Athletic camps require a signed concussion statement. 

Families with more than one camper should register each 

child separately. The grade level for camps is the grade a child 

enters in August 2018. 

DROP OFF/PICK UP: Drop off and pick up will be in the Overbrook 

gym lobby. Please bring your child into the Overbrook 

gym lobby on the first day of camp to verify necessary information 

before camp begins. Check in will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the 

first day of each camp week for the morning session and 12:30 

p.m. for the afternoon session. After the first day, drop off will 

begin at 8:45 a.m. for morning sessions and 12:45 p.m. for afternoon 

sessions. Campers dropped off before 8:45 a.m. will report 

to before-care at the $10 per day drop in rate. Campers not 

picked up by 4:15 p.m. will go to after-care at the $10 per day 

drop in rate. 

LUNCH: Campers who stay at Camp Overbrook for both morning 

and afternoon sessions should bring a sack lunch and water 

bottle. Campers will eat together and be supervised by camp 

staff during the time between sessions. 

ALLERGIES: Please inform Camp Overbrook of any food allergies. 

Baking, cooking and camps listed as having food as part 

of their curriculum are not allergy-free. Camp staff will provide 

allergy-free snacks to those who request them. 

REFUNDS: We will refund 75% of your camp fees only if it is 

requested in writing prior to May 1, 2018. We cannot make any 

refunds after this date. Camp sessions require a minimum of six campers 

to run. If camps do not meet the minimum, you will be notified at least 

two weeks prior to camp start date. We will make every effort to move your 

camper to another session during the same week and time. If for some reason 

this is not possible, we will refund your payment in full.

ALL BOYS CAMPS 

JUNE 18-22

Lego Camp: Grades 1-4 $180 

Lego fun designed for campers who are already independently 

building Lego sets with instructions. Campers may choose from a 

variety of sets to build. Toward the end of the week, campers will 

be grouped and will build large collaborative constructions such 

as the United States Capitol. The campers will also be encouraged 

to be creative and build from their imaginations without instructions. 

Campers will share their Lego constructions with parents

toothpaste, freeze fruit with liquids nitrogen, create 20 foot 

geysers with cool chemicals and learn about the elements on our

The Science Guys will explore the science of Superheroes with 

experiments focusing on more than a dozen super heroes as 

well as some villains! Activities include amazing magnetic powers, 

web throwing, laser eyes, and ice powers! What's the science 

behind it all? Can you become a hero with any of these powers? 

Feel free to dress up and get ready to save the world with science. 


Over the Brook Farm: Grades 1-4 $140 

Creative G'ART-ening and Farmers Market 

Designed as a great way to have summer fun while learning about 

the fascinating world of the garden and farm. Discover insects, 

worms, and help care for the animals (chickens, bunnies, and more) 

of the Over the Brook Farm. Learn about insects, vegetables, soil 

and worms while playing games, making art, reading stories, singing 

songs, and running through the sprinklers! If your child loves 

getting dirty, being creative, and learning about animals and plants, 

this camp will be a hit!

Math Is Fun: Grades 5-8 $120 

Campers learn how to genuinely enjoy math through some fun 

but challenging games, word problems, and interactive activities. 

Math is Fun is individually tailored to students of a wide range of

Travel to a different country each day to explore language, art, 

culture, culinary delights, traditional dress, and more. Campers 

will share their cultural experience with parents and friends at the

Unleash your child’s inner sense of wonder and let the wild adventure 

begin! Campers will explore the outdoors on our 83-acre campus.

and crafts, gardening, learning camping skills, and more.

Crafty Kitchen: P3-1 $140 

Campers will create culinary and edible delights while learning 

about food safety and nutrition. Students will learn about the variety 

of ways that food connects us across cultures. Campers will 

be encouraged to play with their food and flex their creativity 

while making edible crafts! This class is sure to be scrumptiously 

fun.

Off Site Adventure Camp: Grades 5-8 $200 

Are you ready for an adventurous week? Visit fun venues such as 

the roller rink, zip lining, rock climbing, bowling, and more. Campers 

will visit one place each day for an adventurous week of fun

campus farm. Create upcycled growing containers and 

farm decor. If your 5th-8th grader loves the outdoors, 

enjoys animals and gardening, this camp will be a hit! 


Math Is Fun: Grades 2-4 $120

Join the Sisters for a week of adventures in faith, friendship, and 

fun. Campers will forge new friendships while having fun participating 

in a wide variety of interactive games, activities, crafts, outdoor 

adventures, and more. Instructor: Dominican Sisters 

Clay, Clay, Clay!: Grades 4-8 $170 

Get creative and enjoy getting your hands dirty with clay! This 

camp focuses on hand building sculptural and functional 

forms. Discover the fundamental building blocks with 

methods such as coil, pinching, and slab construction 

to create the project of the day. Student artwork will 

need some time to dry and be fired in the kiln. Plan 

on returning to campus in July to pick up the kiln fired 

clay creations. Your future sculptor or potter will be so 

proud!

Creative Play through Literature, Art, and 

Drama: Grades P3-1 $150 

Children will discover a new love of literature with this storybook 

themed camp. We will dramatize both contemporary and classic 

stories such as Aesop’s Fables and Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Campers will 

learn about the importance of art and illustration in books through 

analyzing, interpreting, and interacting with their own book 

themed creations. Most importantly, campers will build confidence 

and have fun with reading!

Off Site Community Service Camp: Grades 5-8 $170 

Campers will serve, learn, and share lots of smiles as they participate 

with several non-profit organizations on and off campus.

JUNE 25-29

It’s Electric! Engineering Enlightenment: 

Grades 3-5 $180 

Designed for our engineers and hands-on tinkerers, this camp is 

a fun introduction to electricity and electrical engineering. 

Campers will learn to manipulate electronics using snap 

circuits. Creating working circuit boards just like the ones 

found in televisions, radios, and other electronic devices. 

Our instructor is an experienced engineer and will 

guide campers as they build a musical doorbell, a voice 

controlled lamp, a flying saucer, and a lit police siren!

Soccer Camp: Grades 1-6 $130 

Players of all levels will have the opportunity to build skills and 

confidence through ball work, exercises, drills, game strategies, 

and conditioning. The players will learn more about this amazing 

sport while working and playing hard. Make sure to bring a water 

bottle and sunscreen. Players will take breaks in the shade and

Calling all innovators! In this summer adventure, students will 

need to utilize outside the box thinking in an effort to solve 

a variety of visual, spatial, and mental challenges. Mental grit 

will be expanded as campers develop cognitive persistence, 

openness to others’ ideas and the ability to persevere through

challenges. Puzzles will include visual conundrums, 

visual-spatial challenges, numeric enigmas, scavenger 

hunts, riddles, and more! Are you ready for this quest?

Canterbury Tales Puppet Theatre: Grades 4-8 

Dramatic Arts *$275 

(All day camp consisting of two sessions 9-12 and 1-4. Campers need to commit 

to each session in order to participate and both sessions are included in $275 fee) 

Join the troupe for a creative drama workshop melding puppet 

making and performance. Campers will base their performance 

on the classic Canterbury Tales. 

Students and the teacher will read the stories, pick a character, 

write a script, and construct a puppet to be used for performance. 

This is an all-day workshop and will run from 9-4 with an hour lunch 

break on campus. Please send campers with snacks and lunches, as 

they will be on campus all day. This theatrical camp will conclude 

with a performance on the last day of the camp session.

Pen, Paper and Imagination: Grades 5-8 $130 

A creative writing camp designed to teach the tools of storytelling. 

We will go to the roots of storytelling. The elements of writing 

creatively will be addressed as we develop a story of ideas, 

invent characters, analyze plot structure, and determine an appropriate 

point of view. We will look at the importance of “showing” 

the reader rather than “telling” the reader through discussing how 

to write good descriptions. By the end of the week, campers will 

leave with a portfolio of creative writing pieces to share with family 

and friends.

Dance, Dance, Dance *Girls Only: 

CAMPS 

Grades 4-8 $130 

A jazz, ballet, and lyrical skills camp for your aspiring dancer. This 

camp will focus on technique, movement, and performance. 

Dancers will not only learn how to properly move their body to 

music, but they will learn what it takes to be a performer. The 

week will culminate with a small performance highlighting what 

the campers have learned. Please wear comfortable clothing and 

bring jazz, ballet shoes, or socks. No prior dance experience required.

Ring with Me! Handbells: Grades 5-8 $125 

A novice to beginner handbells class for melodic ringing fun. 

Campers will learn basic ringing techniques, music theory, 

and be introduced to the historical use of bells throughout 

the ages. Join us for a week of handbell ringing! No experience 

is required! This camp is designed for beginners who 

have played for less than a year or who have no experience.

Crafty Card Making: Grades 5-8 $140 

Greeting Cards Galore 

Create unique and special cards for family and friends in this fun 

and relaxing camp! Campers will incorporate hand stitching, embroidery, 

and design to craft unique cards while learning some 

useful stitching skills. Campers will go home with a binder of all 

patterns used in class and a portfolio of greeting cards to gift or 

frame!

Bygone Days: Grades 1-4 $150 

A Victorian Era Summer Camp 

Step back in time and learn what kids in the Victorian Era did 

for fun and what their daily life was like. Campers will spend 

the week playing croquet, cross stitching, scrapbooking, learning 

table manners, letter writing, playing games, and more. 

Cap the week off with a scrumptious Victorian tea party.

Exploring Etiquette: Grades 4-8 $150 

Campers will spend the week planning a party while learning important 

social and cultural competency skills. Campers will learn 

about the proper way to introduce oneself and others, a proper 

handshake, body language, table manners, extending and accepting 

invitations, thank you notes, and more! A party will take place 

on the last day of camp while the campers further their etiquette 

knowledge with setting a table, planning a menu, appropriate

Volley Up! Volleyball for All: Grades 5-8 $130 

Volleyball camp for all through play and strategy. Learn or improve

Explore the outside world! Reduce, ReUse, Recycle. Use the Giant 

Dymaxion Map to learn about the biomes, animals, and the earth. 

Go on nature scavenger hunts and get creative with recycling activities!

Multiplication Math Facts the Fun and Easy Way:

will help prepare your child for the upcoming academic year. Introducing 

a few tables each day in an easy way to learn sequence, 

campers will develop a confidence with their multiplication math 

facts through fun activities, worksheets, games, manipulatives, 

and practice!

Brain Camp: Grades 3-8 $175 

Enrichment with Learning Rx* 

Brain Camp creates an engineering environment in which your 

child can discover tools for thriving in school and life! Each day 

campers, ages 8-14, will be challenged with a variety of fun activities 

that promote problem solving, teach memory strategies, 

and exercise core brain skills. During the week, campers will learn 

to set S.M.A.R.T goals; compete in fun brain games for prizes and 

awards; discover life changing principals regarding attitudes, 

work ethic and motivation; and participate in fast-paced games 

designed to exercise important cognitive skills including memory, 

visual processing, logic, and reasoning.

Rx is generously offering a $100 scholarship to students this year only. This 

scholarship is included in the $175 camp list price. Next year, Learning Rx

Summer Sing: Grades 4-6

Campers will have fun learning to use their voices for choral singing 

while experiencing the joy of finding their voice within an 

ensemble. Campers will experience ear training, sight singing, 

solfege, and more. Join in this joyful and upbeat singing camp.

Claymation Camp: Grades 1-4 $180 

Make your own Claymation movie with handmade playdough 

creations, photos, and video. No experience necessary. Bring 

your imagination and love for creating forms with playdough and 

watch them come to life! Campers will share their Claymation 

movies with their friends and family at the end of the week.

Crafty Card Making: Grades 5-8 $140 

Greeting Cards Galore 

Create unique and special cards for family and friends in this 

fun and relaxing camp! Campers will incorporate hand stitching, 

embroidery, and design to craft unique cards while learning 

some useful stitching skills. Campers will go home with a binder 

of all patterns and a portfolio of greeting cards to gift or frame!

Bygone Days: Grades 1-4 $150 

A Victorian Era Summer Camp 

Step back in time and learn what kids in the Victorian Era did for 

fun and what their daily life was like. Campers will spend the week 

playing croquet, cross stitching, scrapbooking, learning table 

manners, letter writing, playing games, and more. Cap the week 

off with a scrumptious Victorian tea party. 


Let’s Travel to Japan: Grades 1-4 $150 

An interactive and multisensory cultural experience, this camp 

includes language, calligraphy, chopsticks, singsongs, literature, 

painting, and Japanese festival fun. Campers will experience a 

series of lessons incorporating all things Japanese. Nihongo Benkyoshimasu 

(Let’s Study Japanese)! Instructor: Helena Hess 




Enjoy scavenger hunts, fort building, creek hikes, upcycled 

arts and crafts, gardening, learning camping skills and more. 


Story Time and Fairy Tales: Grades P3-K $140 

Read classic stories and fairy tales each day while making crafts 

and playing games! Create and enjoy tasty treats related to the 

stories. Campers will also learn about virtues and integrate these 

concepts into the theme of the day. Princes, princesses, and fairy 

tale characters will come to life through creative play and activities!

Girls Basketball Camp: Grades 3-8 $130 

Have fun while learning the game of basketball 

through individual and teamwork based skills and 

training. This camp is designed for players of all skill

Learn the ins and outs of running with mechanics, stretching, core 

exercises, and running. Have fun while improving running with

At the space camp, kids will launch rockets, build eggstronaut reentry 

craft, and a mini rover! We will investigate what it’s like to

about the fascinating world of the garden and farm. Discover 

insects, worms, and help care for the animals (chickens, bunnies, 

and more) of the Over the Brook Farm. Learn about insects, vegetables, 

soil, and worms while playing games, making art, reading 

stories, singing songs, and running through the sprinklers! If your 

child loves getting dirty, being creative, and learning about animals 

and plants, this camp will be a hit! Instructor: Jessica Brown

All things buttons! Create stories, games, musical instruments, and 

more. Explore the many ways in which this fastener can be used.

Are you a sous chef at heart? Here is your culinary start! Campers 

will learn kitchen safety skills and basic baking skills. Campers

baking and will enjoy a scrumptious item each day. Campers 

will also meet a surprise guest speaker. Spoons, batter, 

icing, and tall chef hats abound. See you in the kitchen!

Game Day: Grades K-3 $150 

Enjoy a game filled week with old and new friends alike! Games, 

Games, and more games will include but is not limited to: water
