Cultural Nomad in
Cambodia
Text & Photos by John Luke Chica of JohnLukeChica.com
Aside from the sights and the typical tourist-spots, I find
myself wandering the streets of Siem Reap looking at every
store signage, tuk tuk, friendly Cambodian eyes, and cheap
draft Angkor beer. Normally, I would find the easy way out
and just give five oh-so-YouTube-searchable travel tips just
to meet my writing deadline, but let’s not do that now.
Despite your short attention span and probably skimming
your way just to browse photos, let’s hope you’re reading
this article.
Angkor Wat
Exploring Cambodia
Angkor Wat is one of the most iconic structures that
survived the modern era. Its direct English translation is
“Capital Temple”.
One thing I’ve learned in Cambodia is to never get angry
at them. They are the nicest people, probably in Southeast
Asia, next to the smiling country, the Philippines. I am not
so sure if Cambodians are kind in nature or they are just
nicer to tourists. But nevertheless, their kindness and smiles
will always remind me why I want to visit Siem Reap again.
