IN THAILAND 

There is no doubt that Thailand 

is a beautiful country, a home of 

hospitality, friendliness, diversity, 

and amusement. More than its 

beautiful beaches and fun nightlife, 

Thailand has something more to 

offer to its tourists. 

Everything is beautiful in Thailand 

— beautiful temples, instagramworthy 

beaches, bustling night 

markets, crowded main streets, and 

its people. You will surely enjoy the 

land full of beautiful and thrilling 

adventure. 

It is a wonderful experience that I 

recommend to everyone!

THE FOOD 

Thai cuisine is definitely one of the best 

in the world. It is diverse, serving your 

palate with harmony of tastes. Along their 

busiest streets, you can spot food stalls 

that offer delicious Thai food at a cheap 

price — they’re all worth trying. 

Surprisingly, cuisine changes as your 

location does. Make sure to have a brave 

heart and tummy before indulging in their 

complex yet flavorsome food choices. 

THE PEOPLE 

Thailand is truly ‘the Land of Smiles’. 

The warmth you will receive from Thai 

people is incomparable — delightful and 

admirable in equal measure. 

From market vendors to the people you 

will meet on the busy streets of Bangkok, 

they are all wearing contagious smiles 

that will surely leave an impact on your 

day. It is amazing to be in a country that 

will make you feel at home and worry 

free. 

Thai people do things differently — 

spontaneous, natural, and enthusiastic. 

There is something in them that let you 

feel their heart in whatever they do, a 

magic that makes a great difference. 

Above all, tourists can learn a lot from 

Thai people. One of these is their love 

for their culture and traditions — they 

are passionate about their King, their 

heritage, and their cuisine. It is a country 

of patriotic and humble people. 


THE TEMPLES 

Thailand has over 40,000 Buddhist 

temples and these play an important role 

in everyday life for Thai people. They go 

to temples and pray to Buddha for good 

health, good fortune, wealth, and even to 

seek advice from monks. 

Temple areas are called Wat —it consists 

of various buildings like Ubosot or 

the ‘ordination hall’, the Viharn where 

important Buddha images are kept, 

and a Chedi, where Buddhist relics are 

enshrined. 

Every Thai temple is beautifully, 

ornately decorated, varying in sizes 

and architectural sizes. As a respect 

to their tradition, make sure to dress 

appropriately when visiting a temple. 

Always take off your shoes and wear long 

pants or a sarong-like long dress. 



GOING CRAZY FOR GENKI SUSHI 

The first time I had sushi was almost a decade ago. It was home-made, and my cousin was experimenting on a recipe 

for California Maki. 

Since I never tried sushi before but heard so much about it from TV and animes, I had little to no expectation that 

time. Yet, I was excited because I could finally put my then fresh chopsticks skills to good use. 

The first bite was heaven. Definitely gochisoosama. 

We weren’t Japanese or anything, but my cousin was someone 

who knew how to cook. That first experience has become my 

standard. If another sushi brought me to a higher heaven than 

the sushi my cousin made, then it’s quality sushi for me. 

I’ve only come across a few ones that surpassed my cousin’s. 

One of that is Genki Sushi. 

GENKI MEANS FULL OF SPIRIT 

Everything I ordered crushed my standard in so many ways I 

almost choked. You have to see their menu to realize they have 

one of the most varied assortment of sushi I’ve ever laid eyes 

upon. And that’s saying something! I’ve only tried a quarter of 

what they offer. 

Because fish is a good source of concentrated Omega-3 fatty 

acids, sushi is certainly a healthy meal. It doesn’t have added 

fat and has low calories, has protein, good for blood circulation, 

and can also be antibacterial (because of wasabi and 

ginger). 

Plus, sushi tastes really good. Fight me!!! 

O GENKI DESU KA? HAI. 

More than the name, Genki Sushi offers an entire course of 

meals. Of course, their staple are Maki Mono sushi. But they 

also have appetizers, sashimi, side orders, rice meals and noodles 

(ramen!!!), and even desserts. 

They have the common Nigiri (hand-formed rice ball with a 

slice of typically raw fish fingers on top) sushi; Temaki (coneshaped 

seaweed/nori sheet with fish and rolled rice) sushi; 

Gunkan (oval rice balls wrapped with a nori sheet and varied 

toppings) sushi; and Aburi (Nigiri but a flame-seared fish finger 

topping) sushi. 

They even offer some Japanese-Filipino fusion of flavor to add 

something familiar but also new to our taste buds — minced 

seafood, minced pork, and tuna adobo. 

STAY HAPPY AND GENKI 

You’d definitely smile the entire time you’re eating. Because I 

honestly did. 

Maybe because I was having fun watching my friends eating 

with chopsticks, or because I knew how crazily affordable 

their food are, or because I was amazed by the restaurant’s 

automated Kousoku Express Train System in delivering food to 

the table. 


I know it’s wrong to play with food, but 

seeing how my meals are delivered via a 

conveyor belt brought out the kid in me. 

It’s like watching a mini train carrying my 

order straight from Japan. And I guess it 

really did because Genki Sushi certifies 

that all their ingredients are fresh from 

The Country of The Rising Sun. 

And you get to choose what to order via 

an iPad dangling above your table. Talk 

about cultural innovation! 

GOCHISO SAMA DESHITA! 

Genki Sushi’s concept is, quite literally, 

a feast. It mixes traditional food options 

with classical fusions. You definitely get 

a unique blend of modern aesthetics and 

excellent customer service. As a lover 

of food, every meal that tastes good is 

a meal worth eating again. As a fan of 

sushi, Genki Sushi is top-tier and I’ll most 

certainly come back. 

LIVE LIFE AND EAT SUSHI GENKI-LY 

Sitting in Genki Sushi while looking at 

my order being rolled in front of me 

was like the moment I was sitting at our 

dining table and having sushi for the first 

time. Food is delicious on its own, but 

to add sentiment as garnish makes any 

complete meal. 

If you and your friends, family, and loved 

ones are anywhere near SM North, you 

must try Genki Sushi. They also have 

branches in U.P. Town, in Ayala Malls 

The 30th, SM Aura, SM Megamall. Their 

flagship branch is in BGC. 

My top picks are their newly released 

Grilled Salmon Belly Nigiri, their 

satisfying Tempura Tuna Salad Roll, the 

juicy Spam Tamago, surprisingly savory 

Shrimp Mayo Gunkan, and the classic 

Salmon Belly Sashimi. 

Of course, I had dessert! Believe me 

when I say that their Rare Cheese Cake 

is so creamy, their Strawberry Cheese 

Cake uses legit strawberry chunks, their 

Matcha Double Fromage is heaven on 

a platito, and the Green Tea Ice Cream 

makes you want to have order another 

one. 

My favorites are basically a little bit of 

this and that for every set they offer. 

Can’t blame a guy who loves to eat.

POETRY IN 

HER WORDS 

For Julie Anne, the pen is 

what a brush is to a painter—a 

tool for her to pour out her 

emotions. But like emotions go, 

they can’t be explained point 

blank. 

“When I write, it takes a lot of 

time and effort. Minsan, I can’t 

even write at all. And it’s normal. 

Whenever I feel the words 

coming in, I just write it down 

or type it in. They’re not even 

songs yet. Just strings of words, 

and that’s where it starts,” she 

explains about her writing 

process.

More than the songs she 

composes and the way she 

performs, Julie Anne is both 

art and artist—her songs are 

written from experience, her 

compositions are drawn from 

emotion. 

“When I think of a melody, I 

record it and get back to it 

when I can. I’m that kind of 

writer — I think of the melody 

and lyrics almost at the same 

time. Sometimes, words come 

first. Sometimes, the tune. Pero 

if nakaharap ako sa piano or 

if I have my guitar with me, 

everything becomes a blur. That’s 

when I’m in my zone,” she adds. 


STRENGTH IN 

HER VOICE 

Artists tend to paint in order to depict 

emotion. Singers sing to bring out 

feelings. Writers write to express a 

certain state of being. If you have the 

means to draw out the rawest form of 

strength for your followers, you most 

certainly would do it, right? 

As a celebrity, Julie Anne knows her 

voice leaves an impact. This impact 

doesn’t necessarily come from the 

notes she belts but the voice she has 

that empowers her fans. It’s the ability 

to become a voice, a guide, or an 

inspiration. 

“Just do what you love to do,” she 

answers right away after being asked 

for advice to people who’ve been 

having setbacks finding the right 

footing in life.

“As long as it makes you happy, don’t 

be afraid to explore and to do what 

you haven’t done before. Kung ano 

ang mas nakakabuti sayo and as long 

as wala kang nasasaktan, go for it,” 

she adds. 



CONTROL OF 

HER CRAFT 

Julie Anne can sing, play the guitar and 

piano, and even act. She’s a palette of 

talent that befits her title as Asia’s Pop 

Sweetheart. 

Although, she’s slowly shedding off that 

layer and showing her meticulously 

curated form. A sweetheart at heart, 

she’s become feisty and dedicated. With 

her 5th studio album in the works, she 

has more creative control on input. 

“There will be new music. It’s definitely 

on me. May mga collaborations din 

ako. It’s building up piece by piece. I’m 

writing it when I can, no rush but there’s 

pressure,” she exclaims. 

For someone who can do a lot, Julie 

Anne definitely knows how to impress. 

Her roots has always been ballad, but 

she’s done RnB and have even been 

praised for her rapping skills. 

“Hopefully, there’s rap. It takes longer 

for me to write that. But we’ll see. Hindi 

pa naman ako tapos sa album, hopefully 

before the year ends, ma-rerelease na 

‘yun. Or sooner,” she says with a smile. 

Aside from her singing and even acting 

career, Julie Anne has played with 

hosting, too. It’s a necessity to be able 

to connect with your audience more, 

and what better way to get into the 

thick of it all than being a host? 

She’s set to co-host the new season of 

The Clash on GMA-7 with Rayver Cruz. 

Definitely a project with big feet to fill 

in, Julie Anne will surely handle it like 

she does.

PRESSURE FROM 

HER CAREER 

Julie Anne started out young in the 

industry. She would definitely know a 

thing or two about handling pressure 

and criticism. With her new-found 

enlightenment, she realized that 

whatever words are thrown at her, 

they shouldn’t affect her. 

“Before, criticisms would really affect 

me. Nada-down talaga ako. But I 

learned how to not mind them. It’s part 

of the job. Di mo masa-stisfy lahat ng 

tao,” she says, her body language full 

of confidence. 

“I understand that there will be 

criticism. Also if lies are spread about 

me. But if these lies target my family, 

my friends, or loved ones, iba na yun.

HER DREAMS 

Behind every masterpiece lies an 

inspiration that birthed it. Be it small 

or life-changing, these inspirations

Julie Anne’s world consists of her 

loved ones. She draws strength from 

her family and her friends, and they’re 

the ones who’s her constant reality 

check. Her supporters have also made 

an impact on her life: they’ve become 

the added color to her ever growing 

canvass. 

“I wouldn’t be where I am now kung 

wala ang pamilya ko. I owe to all to 

them and to God and to everyone who 

believed in me. Malaking part din sa 

success ko ay ang mga fans ko na 

naging supportive sa lahat since day 

one,” she exclaims whole-heartedly.

To say that Nikki Co is a good-looking man remains an understatement. Not only is he attractive but he is also a talented and intellectual being. With 

his mischievous eyes and playful smile, girls will definitely go crazy over him. Pursuing a craft in acting and modeling, he started his journey towards 

the limelight and later even became an elite heartthrob.

Nikki Co’s career fell right into place as he 

pursues a profession in acting and modeling. 

He told us the story of getting introduced to his 

current manager, Martin Bellosillo. After their 

first meeting, Nikki later became a part of The 

Elites Management International. 

“I was at my friend’s sibling’s birthday party and 

I was introduced to Martin Bellosillo later that 

night who eventually became my manager. He 

said, ‘I want you to become part of my Elites’ 

and that’s how it started. I made a portfolio and 

later on did some print ads and a billboard.” 

Thanks to Mr. Bellosillo, Nikki later tried out his 

luck in various reality television shows. This, 

then, gave Nikki an opportunity make a name 

for himself when he joined StarStruck in 2015. 

With GMA Network, he managed to hone his 

acting skills. 

“My manager asked me if I wanted to audition 

for a reality show in the other network and 

unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get in. Then, an 

audition for Starstruck S6 came up and I tried 

to audition without really expecting anything. 

Luckily I got in the first cut up until the top 18. 

We had singing, dancing and acting workshop 

under GMA, and that’s where I fell in love with 

acting. Since then I had multiple acting projects 

under GMA.”

HONING HIS 

SKILLS 

Nikki exudes grace and confidence. However, 

he doesn’t always feel that way. He still 

experiences performance anxiety. He deals 

with it through simple practice and rehearsing 

as much as possible. 

“Yes, I think all of the actors have been through 

performance anxiety. Everyone has their bad 

days or in sports, it’s called off-night. If you 

had a bad performance in whatever it is you’re 

doing, it’s not fine, but acceptable. No one is 

perfect and always remember that it’s either a 

success or a lesson.” 

“If you happen to fail in a certain situation, use 

that failure to better yourself in that area. Think 

of ways on how to improve. Research and try it 

on your own. If you have to practice it, do it. So, 

if it’s time to showcase it again, you’ll be better 

and who knows, you’ll succeed.” 

Nikki usually researches about what he would 

want to know for his role. He, then, will try to 

improve the idea or provide a unique one to 

cater the audience. He tries to give himself time 

to prepare himself before a scene or a shoot to 

do his pre-performance rituals. 

“I usually give myself time to calm my mind and 

don’t think about anything 5-10mins before a 

scene. That’s because I believe that overthinking 

kills. Overthinking kills the emotion. You tend to 

think more of the lines and what it is you picture 

that’ll happen and forget to be in the moment 

and believe the script or scene.” 


UP CLOSE AND 

PERSONAL 

Guess what? You can get Nikki’s attention 

through a simple thing: be consistent. Although 

he wants you to care about him, he doesn’t 

want you to forget taking care of yourself. In 

fact, he advocates for self-love. 

“Being consistent would catch my attention. 

Like always there to listen to me or shows me 

how much they care about me. This is without 

disregarding their own self. I don’t want them to 

just focus on me and not think about themselves. 

It’s important to love yourself first to share your 

love to that special someone.” 

No one is more important to Nikki than his 

MOM. She inspires him every single day to 

achieve his goals and dreams with everything 

he got. He continues to work hard as he lives in 

her example. 

“My biggest inspiration would be my mom. She 

is the epitome of hard work and selflessness. 

She gives me inspiration that you can achieve 

whatever it is you want to achieve with hard 

work and passion. Whether it is for yourself, 

your family or someone you love. I respect her 

for being that mom/dad everyone deserves to 

have. Whenever I think about her, it makes me 

want to be more successful than I am today to 

give her the life she deserves.” 



A MESSAGE FOR 

HIS FANS 

Nikki continues to fuel his craft, not wanting 

to disappoint his most loyal fans. They have 

always been there to support him and he 

doesn’t want them to feel humiliated on 

supporting them. He, then, expressed his 

gratitude towards his fans and promised to be 

worth their support. 

“I would like to send my love and appreciation 

to all the Niksters out there. Seriously, you 

boosted my self-esteem. You always give me 

that drive to become better in my craft. Para 

hindi kayo mapahiya na you support me. I 

don’t want to make you feel na ‘Ay, di naman 

magaling si Nikki.’ Gusto ko palagi kayong 

mabigyan ng magagandang output. Gusto 

ko mag thank you sa inyo dahil since day one 

you’re there to support me. I love you, guys." 

A fan sometimes strive to be like the person 

they admire the most. Of course, Nikki’s 

fans would either follow his limelight or 

his footsteps. He, on the other hand, has a 

message for people who wants to follow his 

footsteps. He recommended to go at their own 

pace and they will get through everything in 

the future. 

“Whoever wants to follow my footsteps, thank 

you! I appreciate it. My advice to you is always 

have faith in the Lord and His plan for you. 

Whatever it is you’re dealing with right now is 

only a phase and the ultimate plan for you is to 

succeed. Maybe not now, but in God’s perfect 

time. Be patient, but remember that waiting isn’t 

doing nothing. Waiting is preparing. Waiting is 

getting yourself equipped. Waiting is working 

for it. That “it” is the day to finally show what 

you got. Most importantly, you have to love 

what you’re doing and don’t forget to enjoy.”
