Boat Show in the Southwest and the premier Sail and Power Show for<br />

new and pre-owned vessels. This exciting event on Clear Lake, in Bay Area<br />

Houston, features boats ranging in size from 10ft. to 100ft., both freshwater<br />

and saltwater and offers the unique opportunity to view and board fabulous<br />

<strong>April</strong> 14 th - It’s that time again! Don’t miss the Annual Art Car Parade. Downtown<br />

Houston will come to life when more than 250 “motoriffic” mobile masterpieces<br />

hit the pavement. The Houston Art Car Parade is a free BYOG (bring your own<br />

goodies - lawn chairs, water, treats, no dogs please) event. The Parade has<br />

become a nationwide phenomenon and continues to bring out the artist in<br />

everyone. This year’s spectacle is expected to draw a crowd of 250,000 fans<br />

from across the map and approximately 250 local, national and international<br />

artists will transform everyday automobiles into one-of-a-kind creations meant<br />

to amuse, inspire, enlighten and entertain. Route: Smith St. from Pease St. to<br />

<strong>April</strong> 14 th -15 th - Japan Festival Houston celebrates the rich cultural heritage<br />

of Japan with traditional and contemporary performances of Japanese<br />

music, dance and martial arts, Japanese/Japanese-inspired food, as well as<br />

demonstrations and displays of Ikebana flower arrangement, tea ceremony,<br />

origami, etegami, bonsai and more. The event is held in the Museum District<br />

<strong>April</strong> 15 th - Houston Barbecue Festival. The venue has changed but the<br />

game’s the same, smoked meat until you drop. After several years at NRG<br />

Park, the Houston Barbecue Festival is moving its <strong>2018</strong> smoke-out to Humble.<br />

According to the organizers, the new location, 20 minutes north of downtown<br />

on U.S. 59, offers additional amenities including free parking, restrooms,<br />

covered areas in case of inclement weather and more affordable drinks. The<br />

Houston Barbecue Festival partners are Saint Arnold Brewing Company and<br />

Pitts & Spitts. The festival also will feature live music and a bar with craft beer.<br />

The festival sells out each year and ticket sales are limited. No tickets will be<br />

sold at the gate. The Humble Civic Center is at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. The<br />

<strong>April</strong> 21 st -22 nd - The Houston Texans and Texas Children’s Hospital, in partnership<br />

with the nonprofit organization Kids Triathlon, Inc., have partnered to bring you<br />

the <strong>2018</strong> Houston Texans Kids Triathlon presented by Texas Children’s Hospital.<br />

This sixth annual event will be held at NRG Stadium. Sign up today! The event is<br />

<strong>April</strong> 29 th - The City of Houston invites you to the 5 th Annual Ready Houston<br />

Preparedness Kit Chef’s Challenge. Celebrity chefs will compete on-site<br />

to create the best dish from non-perishable food items typically found in a<br />

disaster preparedness kit. Each chef will choose from a list of canned and<br />

shelf-stable ingredients. Media judges will select and award one winner<br />

based on taste, creativity and presentation. In addition to the cook-off, there<br />

will be emergency response equipment on display, disaster preparedness<br />

May 5th - AsiaFest <strong>2018</strong>. Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with<br />

May 5th - Houston Dragon Boat Festival. The Buffalo Bayou will be overflowing<br />

with people and boats at the Annual Houston Dragon Boat Festival. More than<br />

30 corporate and community teams will paddle their way in the waters of<br />

downtown Houston with other festivities celebrating Asian and Asian-American<br />

culture. Texas Dragon Boat Association (TDBA) is collaborating with The Asian/<br />

Pacific American Heritage Association to provide fun activities for the whole<br />

family celebrating Asian-Pacific America Heritage Month. The event will be<br />

May 5th-6th - The 23rd Annual Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance,<br />

benefiting The Boys & Girls Harbor, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday,<br />

May 5th-6th. The weekend-long, nationally acclaimed classic car and vintage<br />

wooden boat show takes place each spring at the Lakewood Yacht Club in<br />

beautiful Seabrook, TX and attracts more than 15,000 attendees. The car and<br />
