“We have lived here in Cypress area since July 2013. We like living in this 

area because it’s where we built our first home and we have family nearby. 

Also because everything is nearby and has had many new developments 

like Boardwalk, beautiful parks, great schools, restaurants, stores, etc. The 

area means a lot to us because we come to see how communities come 

together to help and support neighbors in times of need. We have also 

meet great neighbors that have become great friends.” 

Long Awaited Spring 

Their favorite spring time tradition as a family is picking out their cowboy and cowgirl 

wear for Rodeo Day, and then head down to NRG to enjoy the Rodeo food and 

concerts. Of course, the kids have a blast at the carnival! 

The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town: “For Easter each year as a family, we like to go 

to brunch together, followed by Easter church service and we like to host a BBQ with 

close friends and family. Our Easter tradition is an Easter egg hunt for kids, we always 

make baskets for our kids filled with their favorite goodies, and bake and decorate an 

Easter theme cake.” 

And he’s good to me: The kids’ Easter baskets and usually filled with toys, candies, 

shirts and each kid’s favorite goodies based on their favorite character or hobby. 

What’s it all about: To this family, the true meaning of Easter is the “religious 

celebration celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. Also a time to get together with close 

family and friends and spend quality time together.” 

Heart to Heart 

“One of our biggest challenges was learning that not 

everyone is as understanding towards special needs and 

some lack knowledge to Autism. We went from having 

such hard times making a grocery trip or taking my kids 

to a playground because some would look at my son as 

their definition of normal and due to his sensory overload 

moments adults would stare or make rude comments 

when he would stim or have a moment. Children around 

him always seem to be much more understanding than 

adults, but we have come such a long way from letting 

that turn into fear to be out in public to not letting that 

stop us and my children from enjoying life and all the 

beautiful things life has for them to explore. Now we 

enjoy the outdoors more, explore new places and travel 

more.”

AMENITY ACCESS - Stone Gate, Canyon Lakes, Canyon Lakes Village, Canyon Lakes West and Miramesa are in the same homeowner’s association, S-G 

Owners Association. All residents are welcome to use the amenities at all locations. To sign up for Stone Gate amenities, residents of Canyon Lakes West 

and/or Miramesa must go to the Recreation Center at Stone Gate and show them a copy of their driver’s license to show proof of residency and then they 

can register there. The two recreation centers are on different computer systems and in order to use the Stone Gate amenities, residents must sign up on 

their system and vice versa. Canyon Lakes West and Miramesa are on the same computer system, so you only have to sign up at one or the other, not both.

Spring Community Garage Sale - 

Saturday, April 14th, 7 am- 12 Noon: 

Got stuff? Need stuff? How about some extra cash? Well, then you don’t 

need to go far! Our community wide garage sale takes place in your own 

garage! We’ll be creating a map of all the garage sales in the community. 

To be added to the map, please email your address to mgarcia@ 

canyongate.com and include a short list (ONLY 5 to 6 words - example: 

Furniture, electronics, clothes, toys) to describe the types of items you 

are selling. Deadline for sign up to be included on the map is Friday, April 

6, 2018. The map will be handed out at the Stone Gate & Canyon Lakes 

West gatehouses on the day of the garage sale. Banners will be posted 

outside the community at some major locations and an advertisement 

will be placed in the local newsletter. You may place signs at the entrance 

to your section & in your yard to promote your garage sale. Signs must 

then be removed on Saturday, April 14, 2018 after the sale by 1 PM. 

PLEASE REFRAIN from attaching your garage sale sign to community 

signs. Please do not move or remove any community banners or signs.

Saturday, April 14th, 1-3 pm: 

For Stone Gate, Canyon Lakes West & Miramesa Residents Only (after 

the Community Garage Sale) at the Stone Gate SplashPad located at 

9901 Red Rugosa Dr. Houston, TX 77095. Have a bag/box/bucket/basket 

full of documents you are ready to get rid of? Got Junk Mail? Got old 

check copies? Come on out and have those papers shredded securely 

before your eyes! All shredding will be done ONSITE securely. No need 

to remove staples, binder clips or paper clips. They will take it all as is! 

(Please no X-rays, batteries or 3-ring binders). Truck leaves at 3 PM so 

be sure to arrive early. Event is on a first come first serve basis as time 

allows. Please be courteous to other residents and keep your shredding 

to a reasonable amount so everyone has a chance to use this service.

Golf Carts 

Please do not allow teenagers and/or young children to drive golf 

carts in our community. 

Cart Path/Golf Course Safety 

Please be aware of the safety hazards involved in trespassing onto 

the Sterling Country Club and Houston National cart paths and golf 

course. The cart paths on both courses are only for golfers that have 

registered through our Pro Shop. Cart paths are a means for players 

to complete their round of golf as quickly, conveniently and safely as 

possible. As the Stone Gate community continues to grow we feel 

it is our responsibility to educate every resident as best we can to 

keep pedestrians and their pets safe and away from the cart paths. 

Golf balls are often hit at speeds over 150 mph and can have deadly 

consequences to a human or pet if hit in the head, throat or chest. 

Because the paths are for registered golfers, those playing golf are not 

aware of the presence of pedestrians on the course, which can lead to 

very damaging collisions with hikers/bikers and their pets. This January 

I fielded a report of a pedestrian being struck by a golf ball and other 

reports of residents having near miss encounters with golf carts when 

traveling along the paths. Hiking, jogging, biking, dog walking, golf 

cart/ATV’s not being used to play golf, skateboarding and skating on 

the cart paths is strictly prohibited on the basis of safety hazard and 

trespassing concerns. Thanks for your cooperation! 

Tennis Courts 

The Association kindly asks that residents refrain from using the tennis 

courts for anything other than playing tennis. Playing basketball, football 

and/or other activities can cause damage to the tennis courts making it 

unavailable for other residents to use and creating costly repairs. 

Keep Our Neighborhoods Litter Free! 

Take responsibility for yourself & be a good neighbor! Keep our streets & 

neighborhood trash & litter free! Make it a habit, be a good neighbor & do 

your part! If each person did their own part (around the outside of their 

home, including their little stretch of street in front of their house), what

the Ducks and Geese 

Spring is the air and this lovely weather has many of us visiting our 

community parks and ponds. It can be tempting to feed the ducks as geese 

as many of us have grown up thinking that this was an environmentally 

responsible and humane way to dispose of old or stale bread. However, 

feeding ducks and geese is actually unhealthy and potentially dangerous 

for the birds. This seemingly generous act, in fact, can be extremely 

harmful. 

Bread and similar products such as crackers, chips, doughnuts and 

popcorn have little nutritional value. Without healthy food and proper 

nutrition the ducks and geese will quickly succumb to disease and death. 

Feeding ducks and geese can lead to the following problems as well: 

• Duckling malnutrition - in areas where ducks are regularly fed bread 

the ducklings will not receive adequate nutrition for proper growth and 

development. 

• Overcrowding - Where food is easy to come by, ducks and other waterfowl 

will lay more eggs and the pond or lake will become overcrowded. This 

makes it more difficult for the birds to seek out healthier food sources 

and increases territorial aggression, especially during mating season. It 

will also cause ducks to cross busy streets in search of food. 

• Pollution - What happens to all that bread that is not eaten? It causes 

algae growths, pollution and can eventually eradicate fish and other life 

in the vicinity. 

• Diseases - A diet rich in carbohydrates leads to greater fecal production 

and bird feces easily harbors bacteria responsible for numerous diseases 

including avian botulism. 

• Attraction of pests - Rotting leftover food attracts other unwelcome 

pests such as rats, mice and insects. These pests can also harbor 

additional diseases that can be dangerous to humans. 

If you care about ducks and geese, do not feed them. They can live 

longer, healthier lives by relying on natural food sources such as aquatic 

plants, seeds, grasses and insects rather than taking handouts from willmeaning 

humans. Now that you know, you can help by not feeding the 

ducks and geese and by educating other duck lovers. 

Be Courteous And Respectful 

Please be considerate of the differences in lifestyles between neighbors, 

such as family situations (small children, teenagers, retired, elderly, 

professionals and students), different work and sleep schedules and 

whether they are comfortable with pets or not. 

Noise: Be courteous - keep the noise to an acceptable level. Complaints 

about excessive noise can come from loud music, outdoor activities, 

early morning lawn mowers and guests coming or going during late night 

or early morning hours.

Traffic Signs, Speed And Gates 

Please respect the posted traffic speeds and stop signs in our community. 

They are here to make our community a safe and pleasant place to live. 

With the pleasant weather, our children are out enjoying our amenities. 

Use extra caution when driving near our parks and community pools. 

Please also use the correct side of the gates for entry and exit. 

Street Parking 

We have received numerous complaints from residents about people 

parking in the streets. Please be advised that the S-G Owners Association 

will begin placing orange violation stickers on vehicles that are in 

violation of the parking policy. Per the Parking Policy, vehicles may 

only be parked on the street during daylight hours, when the driveway 

can hold no additional vehicles. This does include your guests/nanny, 

babysitter, home healthcare provider, etc. Commercially marked larger 

vehicles like; Comcast, AT&T, Entouch, landscaper, etc., may park in front 

of the home they are providing a service call for, if this is the homeowner’s 

vehicle, it may not be stored in the community. In addition, no overnight 

parking is permitted. Towing will be enforced in the gated sections. We 

encourage you to ensure that your vehicles are properly parked and/or 

make proper parking arrangements. We thank you for your cooperation 

and understanding. The Owners Association understands there may be 

extenuating circumstances which arise from time to time, please contact

Rules Of The Road for 

S-G Owner’s Association 

This is a reminder…. The operation of motorized vehicles (ATV’s, dirt 

bikes, golf carts, etc.) other than mowing equipment on pathways or 

trails maintained by the Association or any other Common Area within 

the community is not allowed. 

According to the Texas department of public safety: 

• ATV’s are not allowed on a street and an operator crossing a street must 

have a valid driver’s license. 

• Golf carts are allowed on roads, but must obey all traffic laws including 

speed limits. If operated on a road the golf cart must have a license plate 

and the driver must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. 

• Mopeds and motor assisted scooters are treated as regular bicycles. All 

vehicles used on roads must obey traffic laws including stop signs and

Pets 

Good dog-walking etiquette means picking up the poop after your dog 

is finished. This is as simple as taking a plastic grocery bag, turning it 

inside out and placing your hand inside and using the bag as a plastic 

glove, then turn the bag back out and take the bag with you where you 

can dispose of it properly. That’s the courteous thing to do. 

Don’t get caught without extra poop bags, particularly if you’re going on a 

long walk. (P.S. This is a great way to recycle all those plastic grocery bags!) 

Please Control Your Pets! 

It is a deed restriction violation if your pets are not confined to a fenced 

backyard or within your home. They must not be allowed to bark all 

night or cause a nuisance to your neighbors. They must also be on a 

leash at all times when not in a contained environment. It is also the pet 

owner’s responsibility to keep ALL areas of the community FREE from pet 

debris when walking your pets. Please remember that cats must also be 

confined. Animal Control can be reached at 281-999-3191. 

If you happen to come across vicious dogs or ANY loose dogs of this 

nature, please contact your local Animal Control at 281-999-3191. If 

you are familiar with the property address the pets belong to, please

and ample time must be given to the owner to correct the violation prior

Deed Restriction Reminders 

TREES: Dead trees and/or missing trees are a violation of your deed 

restrictions. If tree stakes are not attached to the tree or if the ties are 

an inch or two into the tree - they need to be removed. Thank you for 

helping to keep our community a beautiful place to live! 

FISHING IN THE LAKES: Not permitted at any time. Please refrain from 

this activity. 

BASKETBALL GOALS IN STREET: While basketball goals are permitted in 

your driveway while being used, they are not allowed in the streets. Please 

refrain from blocking the ingress/egress of traffic or emergency vehicles. 

TRASH CANS: Please be sure to keep all garbage in a proper receptacle 

with a securable lid to prevent pets and/or wind from creating a mess in our 

community. Trash cans must also be kept sanitary and out of public/street 

view in-between trash pickup days. Residents are permitted to set their 

trashcan(s) out after 6 PM the evening before their respective trash pickup

Notice Of Collection Policy 

The Board of Directors of the S-G Owners Association (herein referred 

to as “Association”) has been granted the responsibility to conduct, 

manage and control the affairs and business of the Association and to

are working toward standardizing collections in order to create a more 

professional and proficient collections department. This will ensure 

the homeowners and Board members are provided the best possible 

customer service experience we can provide for your association. 

Included in the packet, you will find practices and procedures in order 

to collect delinquent assessments. The packet also includes and defines 

delinquencies and late charges, payment information and general 

provisions provided for your association. The following steps will be 

performed using the approximate time frames below:

After all steps have been completed, if the homeowner remains 

delinquent, the account shall be turned over to the association’s 

attorney for collection. Once an account is at attorney status, the

stipulations and procedures will benefit the association by collecting 


outstanding balances in a timely manner, therefore creating more 

revenue for your association.

No alcohol is permitted. 

*Exception: Alcohol permitted with one (1) law enforcement officer. 

The deposit for alcohol is $450. Four (4) hour minimum required at 

special event rate (Subject to change). Failure to comply will allow the 

Association to close the event. 

Resident must supply all cleaning supplies and trash bags. 

Resident must take home all trash.

Remington MUD #165 Payments 

Friendly reminder, for your convenience there is a drop box outside the Stone 

Gate Recreation Center for homeowners to pay their Remington MUD #165 bill 

without mailing it. Payments are collected every Thursday. The Stone Gate 

Recreation Center is located at 11655 Canyon Green Dr. Houston, TX 77095.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School 7 th and 8 th grade students 

competed in the annual St. Agnes Middle School Math Competition on 

Saturday, February 24 th . 27 teams from 15 area Catholic schools solved 

math and reasoning puzzles. There was also a building competition to 

create a load bearing bridge over a 3-foot span! SEASCS Team A placed 5 th 

in the activity competition: Emma Nguyen, Sani Jones, Dylan Sandrock, 

Lucile Mauvoisin, Issa Baba and Toby Vu. SEASCS Team B placed 7 th in 

the team competition and 6 th in the activity portion: Makynzie Kitzmann, 

Chris Ngo, Kati Rzasnicki, Catherine Benavides, Anh Thy Nguyen and 

Michael Staron. Lexie Robertson practiced and served as an alternate. 

The combined team scores brought home the 2 nd place over all award!

Club Track Team Registration for 

Middle and High School Athletes 

The Northwest Flyers Track Club is now registering all middle and 

high school athletes who wish to join for the 2018 season. The team is 

celebrating its 31 st anniversary year and is a member of USA Track & Field. 

A full program of “track” events such as sprints, hurdles, middle distance, 

distance and relays and “field” events such as long jump, triple jump, high

jump, pole vault, discus, shot put and javelin is offered. It is an excellent 

“off-season” program for young athletes who currently compete on their 

middle school or high school track teams. An orientation session for school

Christ the Redeemer Spring Festival 

All are Welcome at the Christ the Redeemer Spring Festival on April 28 th -

Redeemer Catholic Church will host its 33 rd Annual Spring Festival on 

April 28 th -29 th . The event, a major fundraiser for the parish, provides the 

community with fun and fellowship for the whole weekend. 

On the CtR church grounds, the community and parishioners will enjoy 

several big-top tents, a two-story obstacle course and lots of food. 

Festival activities include the cake raffle, Bingo, Sweet Shop, Crafts, Flea 

Market, Plant Booth, Coke Ring Toss and the very popular expanding 

food court. For the kids, they have several inflatables to play on, confetti 

egg games, face painting and marshmallow shooters. A big draw is the 

great food in a large tent with tons of options including egg rolls, funnel 

cakes, hot dogs, jambalaya, barbecue sandwiches or barbecue stuffed 

potatoes, snocones, cotton candy and popcorn. The live and silent 

auctions are also great fun for the community. Some auction items in the 

past have included trips, patio furniture, iPads, a complete playground 

installed in your yard, themed baskets and so much more! Don’t forget 

the live music, clown and magic shows for this two-day extravaganza!

5K Family Fun Run and Walk 

The Shield Bearer Running for Hearts 5K Family Fun Run and Walk will 

take place on April 7, 2018, 7-11 AM, at Windwood Church at 10555 

Spring Cypress Road in Houston, Texas. This family friendly event will 

feature a 5K timed, trail style run, a 1-mile family walk, games for the 

kids, t-shirts, food, prizes and lots of fun for all ages. Race registration is

School - Shipwrecked - Rescued by Jesus, during the week of June 

11 th -15 th ! VBS is a weeklong interactive time for kids to grow in their

Camp Cornerstone Is The Place To 

Be This Summer for Ages 2 Through 

Completion Of 4th Grade! 

Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp sponsored by Cornerstone United 

Methodist Church and is for children ages 2 through the completion of 4 th 

grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2018. Camp hours are 9:30 AM-1 

PM. There are 3 sessions throughout the summer and you are invited to 

participate in any or all! 

Session I: “Totally Texas” is June 18 th -22 nd , Session II: “Artistic Creations” 

is July 16 th -20 th , Session III: “Fairy Tale Adventures” is August 6 th -10 th . 

The cost per camp per child is $120. You may pay $60 now and the 

remaining $60 on the first day of camp. Registration forms are online 

or in the preschool office. To download a form from the Cornerstone 

website, go to www.cornerstoneumc.org and click on “preschool.” You 

will see a tab for Camp Cornerstone. You can print the form and have it 

filled out before you arrive, saving yourself time! 

Before each camp session begins, you will hear from your child’s teacher 

so you can learn more about the camp and she will answer any questions 

you may have about the week-long fun. Each day your child will bring a 

backpack and a lunch as they enjoy each other and the special things 

they will do during the week. We look forward to having your child at 

camp this summer! It’s a great time for everyone and you don’t want to

An adventure is filled with excitement but it rarely turns out the way we 

plan. This week of Camp Hope, we will see how things can change along 

the way. Join in and discover the Great Adventure. 

Camp Hope is our three-week day camp for children ages 5 years old 

through 6 th grade. It is an adult mentored student led ministry. Each day, 

children will hear a new Bible story; learn what it means to their life by 

creating a craft, eating a snack, playing a game and experiencing the

Holy Week represents the last week of Jesus’ life on earth, beginning with 

his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and culminating 

with his glorious resurrection from the dead the following Sunday, 

Easter. This year Holy Week is from Sunday, April 9 th through Sunday, 

April 16 th . During this week, Cornerstone United Methodist Church will 

be offering a variety of worship and fellowship opportunities. You are 

invited to the following Holy Week worship opportunities for young and 

old alike planned at Cornerstone UMC: 

CHILDREN’S CHOIR 

The Children’s Choirs of Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be 

presenting their musical “Treasure Island” on Sunday, April 15 th at the 

10:45 AM service. Told with props, set and costumes, “Treasure Island” 

tells the story of a group of kids who have just arrived on Treasure Island 

and can’t wait to discover the treasure that’s in store for them. With the 

guidance of Captain Fisher and a map, they start out on an adventure 

seeking something more valuable than gold. Though Captain Fisher was 

once a pirate searching for the riches of this world, he now seeks God’s 

kingdom as a fisher of men. Captain Fisher teaches the kids that they

should always pursue godly wisdom and eternal riches. Join this musical 

adventure as the children discover the everlasting value of storing up 

treasures in heaven and continually seeking God. 

YOUTH CHOIR 

The Youth Choir of Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be 

presenting their Spring musical “Christ in Every Season!” on Sunday, 

April 29 th at the 10:45 AM service. The story of the Christian Faith is the 

story of God’s love in His redemption of humankind. The most important 

part of this story is the story of Jesus Christ. The Youth Choir will present 

the life of Christ in song in “Christ in Every Season,” as it is told in the 

various seasons of the Christian year. This includes Jesus’ birth, life, 

teachings, miracles, suffering, death, resurrection and His giving of 

the Holy Spirit. The Youth Choir will lead this worship event in singing 

Anthems, African Songs, Praise Songs, Spirituals and Hymns. 

THE FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES 

Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be offering to the community 

a study on Gary Chapman’s renown “The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to 

Love That Lasts” starting on Tuesday, April 10 th at 7-8:15 PM. This study 

reveals how different people express love in different ways and contains 

the key to understanding each other’s unique needs. What speaks love 

to you may be meaningless to your spouse. Apply the right principles, 

learn the right language and soon you’ll know the profound satisfaction 

and joy of being able to express your love and feel truly loved in return. 

Each week the group will view a teaching by Dr. Chapman and have the 

opportunity to discuss the principles taught both in the small group and 

with your spouse. Singles are also welcome as there will be opportunity 

to apply the teaching to relationships with children, parents and other 

significant people in one’s life. Classes will last for 75 minutes and a 

nursery for preschool children will be available by advanced reservation. 

Each participant will need a small-group study book, which can be 

purchased from the church. The cost is $10 per book.

English Gateway is a program designed to teach conversational English. 

The vision and desire of English Gateway is to assist international 

families in learning and improving English skills to help them live and 

be successful here in the United States. We offer 6 different levels and 

have open registration throughout the CFISD school year. Childcare is 

available for free for pre-school children as long as they are registered

Singing in a children’s choir is a great way to help that. The St. Elizabeth 

Ann Seton Schola Cantorum is currently accepting children Grades 4-12 

for its after-school choir program. The choir is responsible for enriching 

the Mass on 10:30 on Sundays and rehearses every Wednesday from 

3:45-5 PM. Unique in the area, the choir focuses on singing music from 

the rich Catholic tradition, including chant and polyphony, as well as the 

finest modern church music. Time is devoted to building the children’s 

skills of music reading, vocal technique, thinking about the words and 

the structure and meaning of the Mass. Service hours are available for

Tips for April 

Mulch - If possible, buy Bagged Mulch. Bagging helps eliminate 

a great many pests that die from various causes while in the bag. 

When you buy ‘loose’ mulch that is trucked to your home, you 

are also buying ants, roaches, termites, etc… Spend a little more 

on bagged material and save lots of future pest problems. Keep 

your mulch at least 4” - 6” below the top of your homes exposed 

foundation edge/side. This will aid in minimizing pests in your 

home and allow for quick and accurate termite inspections. 

Shrubs, Flowers and groundcovers - Trim all shrubs/plants at 

least 12” - 18” back from your home. Do your best to create a plant 

free zone that is 18” - 24” wide around your home. The exception 

is your lawn - it can grow up next to the slab as long as you keep 

it 4” - 6” below the top of the slab. The most conducive to termite 

infestation are groundcover plantings, growing high against your 

homes exterior or (especially) ivy that grows on your walls. 

Trees - Spray your trees at least twice annually. The spring spray 

eliminates overwintering pests and fungi while preparing trees to 

resist the pest onslaught of summer with residual pesticides. The 

fall spray also kills pests from the summer, prevents most fungi 

from occurring over the winter and puts your valuable asset off to a 

healthy winter’s dormancy. 

Lawn - Spring is the perfect time to do a fungicide treatment to stop 

brown patch in its tracks along with other fungi. If your lawn is thin 

and weak in some areas, here are some important fundamentals: a) 

lawn aeration b) fertilization c) weed control. 

Most important is proper watering: 

• Water once per week (unless you get a 1/2” rain or more - then do 

not water.) 

• Water heavily (1” - 2”) for total lawn coverage. 

• In severe drought, water every 5 th day. 

• Water from 5 AM to 7 AM in the morning - NOT AT NIGHT. 

• A heavy deep weekly watering makes the turf grow deeper, 

stronger and more drought resistant roots. 

• Less watering also saves you money!! 

IRS TAX DEADLINE 

People have until Tuesday, April 17, 2018, to file their 2017 returns and 

pay any taxes due. The filing tax deadline is later this year due to several 

factors. The usual April 15 th deadline falls on Sunday this year, which 

would normally give taxpayers until at least the following Monday. 

However, Emancipation Day, a Washington, D.C., holiday, is observed 

on Monday, April 16 th , giving taxpayers nationwide an additional day 

to file. By law, Washington holidays impact tax deadlines for everyone in 

the same way federal holidays do. Taxpayers requesting an extension will 

have until Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, to file. 

The IRS expects more than 70 percent of taxpayers to get tax refunds this 

year. Last year, nearly 112 million refunds were issued, with an average 

refund of $2,895.

Caramel Pecan Pie 

You could make this on National Caramel Day April 5 th ! 

INGREDIENTS: 

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust 

36 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped 

1/4 cup butter 

1/4 cup milk 

DIRECTIONS: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.) In a saucepan over low heat, combine 

caramels, butter and milk. Cook, stirring frequently, until smooth. Remove from heat and 

set aside. 

In a large bowl, combine sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt. Gradually mix in the melted caramel 

mixture. Stir in pecans. Pour filling into unbaked pie crust. 

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Allow to 

cool until filling is firm.

Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball

INGREDIENTS: 

6 slices bacon 

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened 

1 (1 ounce) package buttermilk Ranch dressing mix 

1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 

4 green onions, chopped 

3 tablespoons chopped black olives 

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional) 

DIRECTIONS: 

Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning 

occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper 

towel-lined plate. Chop the cooled bacon into small pieces. 

Stir together the cream cheese and ranch dressing mix in a bowl until smooth. Add the 

bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions and olives, stir until well combined. Shape the 

mixture into a ball and roll in the chopped pecans. Refrigerate overnight.
