1 – 3<br />

1 – 3 years<br />

• City: adopt <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Vision</strong>, rename CCC to Redwood City<br />

Arts Commission (RWCAC).<br />

• CCC: develop a prioritized action list, follow up meetings<br />

with FC for detailed procedural suggestions, host 1 - 2<br />

art summits per year, launch arts & culture website, begin<br />

arts educational programs for CCC and the public.<br />

• City with CCC: develop Utility Box and Mural Program<br />

goals and vision including: detailed perimeters,<br />

application process, aesthetic vision, open call artist<br />

selection process with priority to Redwood City residents.<br />

Define a specific end goal for a cohesive body of work<br />

that takes the visitor experience beyond decoration.<br />

Consider other mural program appro aches listed in<br />

the <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Vision</strong>. Consider seeking input from other<br />

successful mural art programs for advice. Finalize scope<br />

and process.<br />

• Turn <strong>Master</strong> <strong>Vision</strong> into interactive website.<br />

• Create simple MV flipbook primarily of info graphics.<br />

• Inaugurate Downtown Library atrium exhibition space<br />

(artist preference to Redwood City residents and<br />

programs).<br />

• Initiate place-making discussions with the Redwood City<br />

Port.<br />

• Create quarterly changing exhibitions on the County<br />

Small Claims Court Glass barriers (artist preference to<br />

Redwood City residents and school programs).<br />

• Adopt 1 percent for public art ordinance for residential<br />

development.<br />

3 – 6 years<br />

• Develop and launch<br />

temporary public art<br />

exhibition for downtown and<br />

throughout the City.<br />

• Continue to increase annual<br />

Art in Public Places Fund.<br />

• Realize 1 – 2 projects<br />

per year for the water<br />

pump station sculptural<br />

transformations, 101<br />

billboard project, Saver’s<br />

building, or consolidate funds<br />

to commission an artist for<br />

a sculptural intervention on<br />

the Courthouse walkway, El<br />

Camino Real or Woodside<br />

Road underpasses.<br />

3 - 6<br />

6 - 9<br />

• Research, plan and fundraise for<br />

larger budget public art projects in<br />

hopes of realizing 1 per year.<br />

6 – 9 years<br />

• Hire Director of Cultural Affairs to<br />

oversee, run, and report to Director<br />

of Parks, Recreation and Community<br />

Services programs such as: public<br />

art, cultural funding, grants, creative<br />

place making, special events,<br />

cultural facility management,<br />

creative entrepreneurship, and the<br />

creative economy.
