<strong>The</strong> Anacortes Kiwanis Sunrisers will be hosting the 2nd Annual Community<br />
Prayer Breakfast on <strong>April</strong> 25th at 7:30AM in the Anacortes Transit<br />
Shed, 100 Commercial Ave. <strong>The</strong> featured speaker will be Barbara Bailey, a<br />
member of the WA State Senate speaking on “A Call to Service.” <strong>The</strong> Community<br />
Service Award will be presented to Eric Johnson for his contributions<br />
to the community.<br />
Blue Skies for Children is again offering five Spring Driver’s Education<br />
Scholarships for teens who are ages 15-17, who are homeless, low-income<br />
or in foster care. <strong>The</strong> scholarship program requires the teen to submit an<br />
essay, transcripts, letters of recommendation and an application form.<br />
<strong>The</strong> teen must have access to a car and auto insurance. <strong>The</strong> scholarship<br />
deadline is <strong>April</strong> 19th.<strong>The</strong> scholarship award pays $350 toward the $400+<br />

Friends of Skagit Beaches Lecture Series: Getting to Know NOAA: What<br />
is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration? Ms. Polly Hicks,<br />
restoration ecologist with NOAA Restoration Center, will talk about NOAA’s<br />
history and mission and provide examples of how NOAA’s work supports the<br />
communities and health of the Salish Sea. Friday, <strong>April</strong> 20, 7pm, NW Ed Services<br />
Bldg., 1601 R Ave., Anacortes. Lectures are free and open to the public.<br />

WSU Extension offering Diabetes Prevention Program - <strong>The</strong> Group Lifestyle<br />
Balance series is for those with pre-diabetes, those who have had gestational<br />
diabetes or those who pass our risk factor quiz at www.cdc.gov/diabetes/<br />
prevention/prediabetes-type2/index.html. This program can help you lower<br />
your risk for type 2 diabetes with modest lifestyle changes. <strong>The</strong> program<br />
begins with <strong>12</strong> weekly class meetings, bi-weekly for the next 4 sessions and<br />
then monthly meetings for the last 6 sessions. Classes begin on Tuesday,<br />
May 1. Participants can choose from either <strong>12</strong>-1:00 p.m or 5:30-6:30 p.m.<br />
weekly class with an orientation in late <strong>April</strong>. Classes held at WSU Skagit<br />

<strong>The</strong> Skagit Valley Camera Club will be participating in the June 1st First<br />
Friday Art Walk in Anacortes. <strong>The</strong> group show will be held in the 2nd Floor<br />
Banquet Room inside Village Pizza at 807 Commercial Ave. from 6PM to 9PM.<br />
<strong>The</strong> club meets at Village Pizza on the 2nd Thursday of month throughout<br />
the year and welcomes photographers of all skill and interest levels. Check<br />

<strong>The</strong> AHS Class of 2019 is fundraising for their drug and alcohol free<br />
grad night celebration. Dine in, carry out, or drive-in at Fidalgo Drive-In<br />
