LAHORE: As many as eight 

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz 

lawmakers, including six MNAs and 

two MPAs, parted ways with the ruling 

party on Monday, announcing the 

launch of a mass movement to make 

southern Punjab a separate province. 

“The purpose of the press conference 

is to announce the movement 

Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz to create 

a new province,” Khusro 

Bakhtiar said while addressing a 

press conference in Lahore along 

with other disgruntled leaders. 

“Making south Punjab a separate 

province is our one-point agenda,” he 

said. 

Bakhtiar said that in the new south 

Punjab province, budget of one district 

won't be spent in another. 

Bakhtiar, who is a member of the 

National Assembly from a PML-N 

seat, has previously served as minister

said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz 

has been finished. "There is only PML- 

Sheen PML-N) now," Bilawal said in reference 

to Shehbaz Sharif being appointed party

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Bilawal added.

he said: "We have been raising the 

Model Town issue for a while now. We hope 

that justice is dispensed to the victims."

Ali Asghar Manda has been a

to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab 

as a candidate of PML-N from PP- 

165 Sheikhupura-IV constituency in 

the 2008 general elections and was 

re-elected in 2013. 

Tariq Mehmood Bajwa has also 

been a Member of the Provincial 

Assembly of Punjab since 2008. He 

was elected to the Provincial 

Assembly of Punjab as a PML-N 

from PP-170 Nankana Sahib-I constituency 

in general elections 2008 

and re-elected in 2013. 

Earlier in 2002, both the MPAs

Five injured in suicide attack on FC checkpost 

QUETTA: At least five people were 

wounded in a suicide attack on a 

Frontier Corps (FC) checkpost in 

Quetta on Monday evening, officials 

and sources said. 

The suicide attacker targetted the 

security checkpost in Buleli area of the 

provincial capital, according to DG 

Civil Defence Aslam Tareen and FC 

sources. 

The wounded persons included four 

paramilitary personnel and a civilian. 

A large contingent of police and FC 

rushed to the site immediately after the 

blast and sealed the entire vicinity.

of 2018 in all districts 

of Sindh province. 

Approximately 8.6 

million children across 

the province, including

to April 13, 2018. 

More than 56,000 

teams (12,000 in Karachi) 

are participating in polio 

drive while 5,000 police

deployed to provide security

oil producing and exporting countries including

BADIN crude, though of high quality and low 

in sulphur, has limitations for refining as it contains 

high percentage of wax and has to be mixed 

with imported crude oil. This has resulted in surplus 

Badin crude, to the level of 9,000-10,000 bpd, 

which was exported until 2005. Export of crude oil 

has emerged again since June 2014 as the government 

has allowed petroleum producers to ship surplus 

quantities to foreign buyers in the wake of 

availability of large quantities of ultra-light crude

difficult to process in most of local refineries. 

Resultantly, crude oil has now a significant share 

in Pakistan’s exports of the petroleum group 

amounting to $ 586 million in 2014-15.

ranking of 42nd among 98 oil-producing countries. 

From 10,000 bpd in 1980s, crude oil production 

increased to 60,000 bpd in 1990s, but 

remained static until the 2,000s. It was only in 

2013 that oil production jumped to 80,800 bpd,

Where is heavy load of oil 

and cash going even today?

November 2014. Crude oil production registered 

91,000 bpd in May 2015 and 93,000 bpd in June 

2015. 

PITIFULLY, Pakistan's share in total consumption 

of oil was about 10% until 1980s. Where does 

that other heavy load of oil goes? It needs a probe. 

It's said that foreign oil companies give a paltry single 

digit percentage to government and reaps most 

of the other financial and non financial rewards. 

One reason is that foreign companies have some 

know how, equipment and technology they won't 

give, except one way terms not favorable to 

Pakistan. If properly held accountable, Pakistan 

can save on double digit billions in oil import, satisfy 

domestic demands from internal oil production, 

and even export surplus oil to other countries. 

Present indigenous oil meets about 23% of total 

national demand of the oil refineries in the country. 

An integrated network of pipeline exists for transportation 

of indigenous crude oil to the refineries. 

Indeed, the availability of indigenous crude oil 

expands the opportunity to meet growing demand 

of oil and to reduce Pakistan's dependence on 

imports, but it is imperative for the government to 

accord high priority to developing the sector expeditiously.

income tax and custom act 

for the betterment of industrial

According to details, he 

made demands through 

separate letters that were 

written to member custom 

Federal Board of Revenue 

(FBR) and Member policy 

FBR Islamabad. While 

pointing out the troubles of 

steel pipe industry regarding 

the custom act he stated 

that regulatory duty up 

to 12.50% on import of 

steel products was feasible. 

He pointed out in written 

letters that same law 

should be formulated for 

industrials and exporters so 

that can compete each 

other in market. 

The chairman pointed 

out that the further tax has 

created a mess for the 

industry and it cannot be 

handled as we have a very 

specific value addition and 

finding registered persons 

to save further tax is 

almost impossible.

pacer S. Sreesanth has 

almost stopped watching the 

Indian Premier League (IPL) 

matches on TV. The 35-yearold 

right arm fast bowler was 

banned for his alleged role in 

spot-fixing in the IPL in the

Incidentally, Sreesanth 

was the highest Indian wicket 

taker in the first edition of

Justice Saqib Nisar visits Civil Hospital Quetta 

Court has right to interfere in 

exploitation of fundamental rights: CJP 

QUETTA: Chief Justice 

of Pakistan (CJP) Mian 

Saqib Nisar has remarked 

that the court has right to 

interfere in the matter of 

exploitation of fundamental 

rights under article 184 and 

199 of the constitution. 

The CJP gave these

over a 3-member bench of 

Supreme Court (SC) during 

the course of hearing of suo

journey towards a democratic, 

peaceful and prosperous 

country. 

He lamented that periodic 

interventions by undemocratic 

forces held the 

Constitution in abeyance 

and retarded the pace of a 

strong federation and democratic 

culture. Such misadventures 

proved detrimental 

to state of security, human 

rights and development of 

the country, he added. 

Remembering the sacrifices 

rendered by the political 

forces of the country to 

ensure supremacy of the 

Constitution, Speaker 

National Assembly said that 

the democratic forces while 

striving for reinstating 

Constitution and restoring 

democracy faced enormous 

challenges and they confronted 

the tyrannical 

regimes with resilience and 

an unrelenting resolve for 

supremacy of the constitution. 

He paid rich tribute to 

those unsung heroes who 

ceased to exist in the history 

but made every effort to 

defend the sanctity of the 

Constitution by facing torture, 

imprisonment and 

even execution enforced by 

the autocratic regimes.

149 women and 

children rescued 

from Boko Haram 

ABUJA: The Nigerian 

military says it has rescued 

149 women and children 

abducted by the armed 

group Boko Haram in the 

country's northeast. 

Onyema Nwachuku, 

army spokesman, said the 

freed captives included 54 

women and 95 children, 

according to the NAN 

news agency. 

"The rescued hostages 

are currently receiving 

medical attention," he said 

in a statement, adding that 

they would be "profiled 

after the medical screening". 

The rescues took place 

during a raid on a Boko 

Haram hideout in the community 

of Yerimari Kura 

on Saturday. Soldiers 

killed three fighters during 

the operation and captured 

five others suspected of
