GEORGIA MILESTONES
ASSESSMENT
Parent’s Night
April 12, 2018
GEORGIA MILESTONES END OF
GRADE (EOG)
• Georgia Milestones assessment is given in
grades 3-8
• All grades will take English Language Arts
(ELA) and Math
• Grades 5 and 8 will take Science and Social
Studies
WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE?
• ELA and Math will have open-ended or constructed response
items as well as multiple choice
• There is a writing component where students are asked to
respond to passages that are read
• There are nationally norm-referenced items in all content areas to
provide us with information about how our students perform on
a national level
• All content areas will have multiple choice
HOW CAN I HELP MY STUDENT
TO BE BETTER PREPARED?
• DON’T STRESS!!!!!
• Encourage your child to study and help them with study skills, review
their work and have them explain to you how them came up with their
answer.
• Explain that the purpose of the assessment is to see what they have
learned.
• Maintain a positive attitude about testing… Attitude = Altitude. If
the student comes in positive about what they know they will feel
better prepared for the assessment, when they focus on the negative
they tend to give up and not do their best throughout the assessment.
HOW CAN I HELP MY STUDENT
TO BE BETTER PREPARED?
• Explain to your child that there may be items that are more
difficult than others. Just encourage them to do their best.
• Have your child here on time every day. (There will be bell to
bell prizes for students who are here from bell to bell on the days
of testing).
• Have conversations with your child each day about testing,
reassure them that they are doing a great job.
•DON’T STRESS!!!!!
